Put your skills to the test by playing along at home with the Destination X game.Destination X is the latest gripping reality adventure series from the BBC that sees contestants go on a road trip of a lifetime - but they have absolutely no idea where they are. They travel around Europe on a bus with blacked-out windows, competing for clues about where in the world they could be .The series, hosted by Rob Brydon, is sure to provide plenty of shout-at-the-TV moments, as we at home try to guess along with the contestants.Luckily, the new Destination X game allows viewers to put their skills to the test. The online game allows show fans to earn their own clues, make predictions along with the cast and, most importantly of all, earn bragging rights about their geographical guessing skills.Here's everything you need to know about how to play the Destination X game.
Log in and play
First things first. To play the game, you will need to go to the Destination X game site, external, where you will be asked to log in with your BBC account – the same account you use to access iPlayer and other BBC services.The game will then give you the chance to either play along live with whatever episode is airing, or to play along on catch-up.
How to increase your chances to win
Just like the Destination X TV series, contestants are given chances to prove their ingenuity and win clues. Online game players can also test their geography knowledge to narrow down their guessing area.For each episode, users can play two mini-games to increase their chances.One sees them test their knowledge of Europe across five travel trivia questions. The other shows users an image of a famous landmark, and asks you to locate it on a map.Depending how well you do on these two games, the game gives you a hint to the location. Each correct answer narrows the circular guessing area within which you can guess this episode's Destination X by 100 kilometres.If you're playing as the episode airs, the location will be revealed as it is revealed in the episode – and if you get close enough, you can earn a badge to share on social media and brag to fellow Destination X watchers that you're a geographical genius.You'll even earn a special LIVE badge if you're watching the episode as it goes out liveYou can, however, also play on catch-up without spoilers. Play the game as normal, then press "reveal the destination" at the end to see how well you did compared to the contestants. You can still earn badges for good guesses, though not LIVE badges.Good luck, or should that be "bon voyage"…
When does Destination X start?
The Destination X bus embarks on Wednesday 30 July on BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm. The game will also launch that same day ready for viewers' first sets of guesses.Hosted by Rob Brydon, star of Gavin & Stacey and host of Would I Lie to You?, the series sees 13 contestants set off on the magical mystery tour of a lifetime, where nothing is as it seems.The question is where this tour has taken them. At the end of each episode, each player has to put an X on the map on the location where they think they are. Each episode, the player whose X is furthest away from their actual location will be having their trip cut short."I've never done a TV show on this scale before," says Brydon. "I loved the idea of it, the combination of having to work out clues as to where you are and having to get on with each other. It struck me as the best bits of The Traitors with the best bits of Race Across the World."
