Apple's pint-sized powerhouse comes with refreshed internals and a design that makes it as pocketable as it is practical. And its even more of a steal with this Amazon deal ahead of the mega Prime Day sale.
During Amazon's Spring Sale, the iPad mini (A17 Pro) is discounted by $100 from $499 to $399 – that's a rather excellent 20% saving on this top-rated tablet. On Amazon UK, there's a much smaller discount of £30 – taking the small tablet down from £499 to £469. I suspect the UK discount will grow when Prime Day actually hits, so British shoppers should hold off for the time being.
At its core, the iPad mini 7 now packs the A17 Pro chip – the same powerhouse found in the iPhone 15 Pro. Compared to the A15 chip in the previous model, the jump in performance is substantial. Day-to-day tasks like browsing Safari with dozens of tabs open, switching between apps, and handling emails feel snappier than ever.
Design-wise, Apple hasn't messed with the winning formula. The iPad mini 7 retains the sleek, Air-inspired aesthetic – an all-screen front, flat edges, and Touch ID integrated into the power button. At just 293g (Wi-Fi model), it's absurdly light and compact, slipping easily into a jacket pocket or a small bag. It's still the best iPad for one-handed use, whether reading in bed, annotating PDFs on the go, or using it as a high-tech clipboard in meetings.
Connectivity has stepped up as well. Wi-Fi 6E ensures blazing-fast browsing and streaming, while the optional 5G model is great for those who need ultra-portable internet. The USB-C port remains, offering fast charging and seamless accessory compatibility, making the iPad mini even more versatile.

How to download and install the iOS 26, iPadOS 26 watchOS 26 and macOS Sonoma 26 public betas today
How to install iOS 26/iPadOS 26 on your iPhone or iPad 1. Make sure your device is compatible. iOS 26 doesn't run on all of the same devices that could run iOS 18 and this version officially ditches support for the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max – all of which are from 2018. Check out the iOS 26 system requirements. 2. Back up the device you intend to install the beta on to, in case of disaster. Betas can be buggy and as we mentioned above, don't do this on a device you rely on. 3. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and choose the iOS 26 Public beta (we don't recommend you choose the Developer beta unless you really know what you're doing). Plug your phone in or place on a wireless charger to keep it juiced while the update takes place. 4. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and you'll see the current beta available for download. 6. Tap Download and Install, Agree, and once the installer's downloaded, tap Install Now. Depending on your Wi-Fi speed, it'll probably take somewhere in the region of 15-30 minutes to download it and do the install. 7. Unless you specifically want to stay on the beta after the September launch, I usually get off the pre-release software train when the final versions appear. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and turn them off once the final software has been announced. How to install watchOS 26 on your Apple Watch 1. Make sure your device is compatible. Here are the watchOS 26 system requirements – essentially you need a Watch Series 6 or later. 2. Ensure the iPhone that's paired with your Apple Watch has been upgraded to iOS 26 – so follow the steps above. This may be a blocker to you getting the beta for your Watch if you don't want to upgrade your main iPhone. 3. Open the Watch app on your iPhone. Tap General, followed by Software Update, then choose Beta Updates. Tap watchOS 26 public beta. 4. Go back to General > Software Update and wait for the beta to appear. Tap Download and Install and you'll need to agree to the terms and conditions that appear. This process will take around 30 minutes. How to install macOS 26 Tahoe onto your Mac If you're determined to take a look at macOS 26 Tahoe we don't blame you, but we do say once again how you shouldn't install it on a Mac you rely on. As you may have seen, this will be the last version of macOS that will support Intel Macs. 1. Go to System Settings > General > Software Update, then click the ⓘ button next to Beta updates. 2. Select the macOS 17 Public beta. We don't recommend choosing a Developer version unless it's for a specific reason and you know what's involved. 3. Go back to General > Software Update and wait for the beta to appear. Click download and Install and you'll need to agree to the terms and conditions that appear. The update will then download. Apple explains how you can install macOS in a separate APFS volume. This is complicated but is a way to check out the beta if you don't want to mess with your main install and you only have one Mac. The route to doing this is to partition your main drive – Apple outlines the process on its support site. You'll need to use APFS format to format the partition and allow it over 20GB of free space to be safe. You can then install the macOS 26 Tahoe beta to that partition and then switch disks in System Preferences > Startup Disk or hold Option during startup to select which OS to boot.

You can now download all of Apple's 2026 iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch software updates
Apple has released the first public beta preview versions of the software it announced at its WWDC 25 developer event back in early June. So you're now able to preview the next big iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac operating systems months before their proper, full release – those are called iOS 26, watchOS 26 and iPadOS 26 plus macOS 26 Tahoe. You'll need to opt into public beta updates on your device as well as have devices fit enough to run the OS: If you're an Apple TV or HomePod afficionado, then tvOS 26 is also available. Apple isn't releasing a public version of the pre-release software for the Apple Vision Pro, however. The final software versions will also include updates for AirPods and HomePod, though it's not clear if these updates will be available in the public betas. A new look and feel for the software is the key new feature this time around. Called Liquid Glass, it brings a new look and feel to Apple's operating systems. The iPadOS 26 update is intriguing for us because it some new multitaking additions that we've long wanted, though it's still got a little way to go until it's as flexible as a Mac. As ever, it's strongly recommended that you do not install beta software on your primary device – especially your everyday iPhone, since any mishaps could leave you without a working phone or maybe have an annoying quirk you can't get rid of. Amazon makes the Kindle Colorsoft cheaper and adds a Kids version
Amazon has launched two new Kindle models: a more affordable version of the Kindle Colorsoft and the first-ever Kindle made specifically for kids with a colour display. The new 16GB Kindle Colorsoft is available now for $249.99 in the US and £239.99 in the UK and includes three months of Kindle Unlimited. It offers everything you'd expect from a Kindle – but in colour. That means a sharp, high-contrast display for reading books, comics, and graphic novels, fast page turns, adjustable warm light, and battery life that lasts for weeks. It even lets you highlight text in multiple colours and browse your library by colourful book covers. If you're after a few more extras, the $289.99 / £269.99 Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition adds wireless charging, 32GB of storage, and an auto-adjusting front light. We're reviewed the Kindle Colorsoft, and were impressed with the excellent battery life, lightweight design, and muted colour screen, but slightly let down by the clunky software and high price – something the new model partly addresses. But the big news here is the new Kindle Colorsoft Kids. Priced at $269.99 in the US and £259.99 in the UK, it's the first Kindle for kids with a colour display, designed to make comics and graphic novels more engaging. Amazon says kids who read these kinds of books spend 46-percent more time reading on average than Kindle Kids users overall. The child-friendly model comes with a bright illustrated cover (in your choice of 'Fantasy River' or 'Starlight Reading'), a year's subscription to Amazon Kids+, and a two-year worry-free guarantee. That means if it breaks, Amazon will replace it. No questions asked. There are no ads, apps, games or messages on the device, just books. Kids can read Harry Potter, Big Nate, or The Treehouse series without distractions, and use tools like Vocabulary Builder, Word Wise, and OpenDyslexic font to help them along the way. Bluetooth is also built in for audiobook listening with headphones. Parents aren't left out either. The Amazon Parent Dashboard gives you full control over what your child sees, lets you monitor reading progress, and even set a bedtime for the device. As part of the package, Amazon Kids+ continues to expand. The service now includes thousands of books and audiobooks from series like Keeper of the Lost Cities, The Breakfast Club Adventures by Marcus Rashford, and The InvestiGators. Amazon says Kindle reading is up this year, with customers having read more than 129 billion pages so far – more than this time last year. So, if you've been holding off on buying a Kindle Colorsoft, now's a good time, and if $269.99 in the US and £259.99 in the UK still feels steep, it's worth waiting for Black Friday, when prices could drop closer to $220 / £200.
