‘No evidence of violence' in death of Irish fashion designer (33) found dead on yacht in New York
Homicide squad detectives and Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office are probing the incident involving of the Carlow-born fashion designer, who first moved to the US when she was 24.
In a statement on Wednesday, local police said that an autopsy 'did not show evidence of violence and her final cause of death is pending further examination'.
A police spokesperson earlier said emergency services attended the scene after receiving a call regarding an 'unconscious woman'.
The statement said: 'East Hampton Town Police responded to a 911 call from a man reporting a woman unconscious on a boat docked at the Montauk Yacht Club, on Star Island Road, at approximately 12am. Good Samaritans attempted to perform CPR on the woman.
'Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra (33), of Manhattan, was pronounced dead on the boat by first responders.
'The preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, which will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office.'
Montauk Yacht Club is a popular lakefront club located on the north coast of East Hampton, New York.
'We are saddened to learn of the tragic incident that took place. Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff. We have no further comment at this time,' a Montauk Yacht Club spokesperson said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told the Irish Independent it was aware of the case and was providing consular assistance.
The spokesperson added: 'As with all consular cases, the department does not comment on the details of individual cases.'
Carlow county councillor Thomas Kinsella, who represents the Muineabeag area, said: 'It's very very tragic news for her family and her friends, especially being so far away from home."
Ms Nolan O'Slatarra was a marketing consultant, entrepreneur and founder of fashion brand East x East.
The well-known and popular businesswoman spoke to the Irish Independent last year about her entrepreneurial spirit and her love of fashion.
She said it inspired her to merge her 'love for travel' with her knowledge of marketing.
She also spoke of her 'hard-work mindset' and determination.
'Carlow is a small town, I was the small town girl who needed to get out to achieve her big dreams,' Ms Nolan Slatarra said at the time.
'I always knew I wanted to be successful, that I was money-driven, business-driven – and that fashion is a tough industry and it would be a slow road.'
Speaking about networking and business relationships, Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra said she had made new friends through her career but she 'still [had] all my Carlow friends. They are still my crew'.
Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra studied commerce at UCD before completing a master's in digital marketing at Smurfit Business School.

Funeral details of Irish fashion designer found dead in New York to be announced this week
The funeral details of Carlow woman Martha Nolan O'Slatarra, who was found dead on a boat at Montauk Yacht Club in New York's Hamptons, are to be announced later this week. The 33-year-old entrepreneur from Monacurragh, Co Carlow, worked in Ireland until 2015 before emigrating to the US. She set up her own brand, East x East, a luxury brand for sunglasses, swimwear, and resort wear for men and women. She was also the director of operations at investment firm K4 Capital and ran a fashion brand called Duper. She kept in contact with her many Carlow-based friends, while a Bagenalsown-based family who moved to the US helped her set up her business in Montauk. Ms Nolan O'Slatarra was found dead on board a boat that was docked at a yacht club on Long Island in New York in the early hours of last Tuesday. A man found Ms Nolan-O'Slatarra unconscious on the boat at Montauk Yacht Club at 12am local time and shouted for help. It is believed that two men on a nearby boat performed CPR, but the businesswoman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. Inconclusive autopsy results A post-mortem has been carried out by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office, which showed there were no visible signs of injury. Authorities said the autopsy results were inconclusive and are awaiting further test results to decide the direction of their investigation. A police investigation into her death is being carried out by Suffolk County police detectives. Her funeral details on the death notice website read that she passed away 'unexpectedly,' on August 5. The notice described her as 'beloved' and 'adored'. She was the 'beloved daughter of Elma, much-loved sister of Jacqui, treasured granddaughter of Betty and Liam, cherished niece of John, Michelle, Barry and Mona and adored partner of Nick," it said. The notice adds: 'She will be sadly missed by her loving mother and her mother's partner Patrick, sister, aunts, uncles, partner, her father Seamus, grandparents, extended family, relatives and her large circle of friends in Ireland and the US. Funeral arrangements will be published later in the week.' One sympathiser wrote on that her death 'is dreadful and shocking news for you and all of us". It added: "A beautiful and stunning looking young woman with a head on her shoulders. May Martha have a smooth passage home to her final resting place and rest peacefully, sympathy to you all.' The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
