Peshawar-Bound Jaffar Express In Pakistan Struck Again, Hit With IED Blast; 5 Injured

At least five people were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province. At least five people were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express train in Mastung district of Pakistan's Balochistan province, derailing five coaches, according to Pakistan Railway officials. On Sunday, the Jaffar Express was struck by a blast near the Spezand Railway Station, derailing five coaches, The Express Tribune reported. All five passengers sustained minor injuries, and rescue teams, including railway staff, were immediately dispatched to the site. Officials said the Jaffar Express had departed for Peshawar at 9:00 am today and was passing through Spezand Railway Station when the IED hit. A second train was dispatched to the station to transport stranded passengers. Security forces and police cordoned off the area, and the bomb squad cleared the site. Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi strongly denounced the attack, affirming that such cowardly acts of terrorism would never shake the nation's resolve. Attacks On Jaffar Express The Baloch outfit dubbed the hijacking 'Operation Darra-e-Bolan 2.0," which unfolded in Bolan, located in Pakistan's province of Balochistan. The attack came as a huge embarrassment for the Pakistani establishment, and the bodies of at least 25 people, including 21 hostages, were retrieved from the train hijack site. Hundreds of passengers were taken hostage and over two dozen security personnel of Pakistan were killed by BLA forces. Gunmen from the Baloch militant group had 'bombed the railway track" and taken control of the train in Sibi after wounding the driver. BLA fighters accused Pakistan of extrajudicially killing Baloch people and taking the Balochistan province to ruination. One of them slammed the United Nations and human rights organisations of remaining silent over the Baloch 'genocide". Last week, a Quetta-bound Jaffar Express narrowly escaped disaster when a bomb planted near the track close to Sibi Railway Station exploded just after the passenger train passed, according to Dawn. A portion of the railway track was blown up in the blast, but the train remained unharmed. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Amazon sellers linked to Pakistan's exploitative garment factories

Academy Empower your mind, elevate your skills A new report from the campaign group Labour Behind the Label (LBL) has exposed widespread labour violations in Pakistan-based garment factories supplying Amazon Marketplace sellers, as reported by the Business and Human Rights Resource investigation reveals routine exploitation, underpaid workers, and systemic abuse occurring in a country that has long turned a blind eye to workers' months-long investigation identified three sellers--Chums, Ice Cool Fashion, and A2Z 4 Kids--whose products trace back to factories in Pakistan , specifically Faisalabad, a city notorious for its poorly regulated textile industry. Researchers interviewed 40 workers, collecting harrowing accounts of forced overtime, wage theft, and inhumane working reported being forced to work well beyond legal hours. On top of their 8 am to 5:30 pm shifts, many are made to work two to four additional hours daily, often without the legally required overtime pay. Pakistan law mandates double wages for overtime, yet employers flout these regulations with impunity. Such blatant violations raise serious questions not only about factory management but also about Pakistan's utter failure to enforce labour worker, Hussain, told Dazed, "We are barely surviving. I live in a two-room house with my five children. I hardly manage my utilities on my salary, and we are living hand to mouth." Another worker, Abdul, reported a monthly income of just £86, supporting a family of seven. Their stories, as detailed in the report, expose a systemic collapse of labour protections in Pakistan's garment sector, where poverty-level wages, lack of education, and zero accountability are the norm, not the the scale of these violations, none of the three implicated brands responded to LBL's requests for comment. A Pakistani factory manager, however, dismissed the allegations, offering the same tired denial: "We will fight and prove our innocence." Yet the mounting evidence suggests to LBL, the real culprit lies in Amazon's reckless third-party seller model, which enables such exploitation while deflecting responsibility. Amazon requires sellers to sign agreements promising that goods are not made with forced or child labour, yet fails to actively enforce these commitments, especially in countries like Pakistan, where labour abuses are easy to hide and harder to prove."The fact is that Amazon has deliberately set up a business model that is creating this risk but is not addressing it," said Anne Bryher, LBL's policy lead. Campaigners argue that tiny fashion brands with hidden suppliers enjoy impunity while sourcing from places where human rights violations are ignored as a matter of national to Dazed, other platforms like Shein have already admitted issues in their supply chains and implemented corrective actions. Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to be a breeding ground for exploitative, profit-driven manufacturing, propped up by weak governance, poor regulation, and a culture of Amazon enforces robust audits and Pakistan faces real international pressure to reform, Pakistani factories will remain hubs of exploitation, fuelling global fashion with misery, sweat, and silence.

‘I love dogesh': German Shepherd leaps into action to save kids from stray dog, dramatic video goes viral

Amid several incidents of pet dogs attacking people, a heartwarming video of a German Shepherd saving a bunch of kids from stray dogs emerged on social media. The video, posted on X, shows a German Shepherd leaping into action to protect children from what appears to be a stray dog. The footage, reportedly from a residential neighbourhood in Rishikesh, shows the German Shepherd calmly sitting on a balcony, observing the street. As some children run past him on the street, the dog suddenly becomes alert. Then, without hesitation, it jumps off the balcony and rushes toward a stray dog following the kids. The children continue running, seemingly unaware of any threat, while the German Shepherd chases the stray dog. The video's authenticity and context remain unverified. Numerous social media users hailed the pet dog, with a user commenting, 'Praying that good doggo didn't get hit and the other dog isn't rabid.' But not all were convinced the dog was trying to save the kids. A user wrote, 'Okay I love dogs but let's be honest here. The dog jumped not to save the kids but to chase the other dog.' 'German shepherd dogs protects first and attacks later. It can't harm anybody for no reason, because it's not their nature to do so,' a third user reacted. 'German shepherd , belgian malinois and labrador and huskies are the best loving and caring and helpful dogs rest all very dangerous and harmful dogs to kids, like pakistani bully, American bully, rottweiler, pitbull these 4 are very dangerous for home also,' a fourth user said. In a tragic incident that took place in March, a 90-year-old woman was mauled to death by her own German Shepherd in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur.
