Unidentified man fires at Sena youth leader's car
An unidentified man opened fire at a vehicle belonging to Shiv Sena youth wing Pune district head in Warje, police said on Tuesday.
The firing occurred minutes after Nilesh Ghare alighted from his black Creta and entered his office at Ganpati Matha area in Warje-Malwadi at around 11.30pm on Monday, they said. One of the bullets struck the car's window and no injuries were reported.
The incident was reported shortly after Ghare received a threat call.
Senior police officials, including deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Sambhaji Kadam, reached the spot soon after the incident.
Kadam said that Ghare had earlier lodged a complaint with Warje-Malwadi police about receiving a threat call from a local criminal. Police have launched a manhunt to track the alleged accused.
Vishwajit Kaingade, senior inspector, Warje-Malwadi Police Station, said, 'No one was present in the car when the firing took place.'
Ghare said, 'At around 2.30pm, local goon Vicky Ankure threatened me on phone. He later called a vendor near my office and intimidated him to keep the shutters down for the whole day. Later, I filed a police compliant.'
As per the preliminary information, two unidentified persons came on a motorcycle, and one of them fired a shot at the car and fled, an official said.
He said a probe has been launched, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined.

Monrovia [Liberia], June 3 (ANI): The all-party delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde concluded India's diplomatic outreach programme, sharing India's stance against terrorism and condemning Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Liberia on Tuesday. Delegation members IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer, BJP MP SS Ahluwalia, and BJP MP Atul Garg unanimously highlighted the strong support from African countries for India's fight against terrorism, their condemnation of the terror attack, and their recognition of Pakistan as a breeding ground for terrorism. The delegation, which visited Liberia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the UAE, successfully exposed Pakistan's role in terrorism while fostering international solidarity. Basheer expressed satisfaction with the mission ahead of their departure, noting that it was 'effective' and that the African nations strongly condemned that attack. 'I'm satisfied and gratified because the government took us into confidence and entrusted a noble work to us... The leader of this group was very cordial, and he gave all kinds of opportunities to all the members. As far as the outcome of our mission is concerned, I feel it was very effective. All team members have deep knowledge... All the African nations we visited have said they stand strongly with India,' the IUML MP stated. 'Everybody says that India should take the lead to fight against terrorism. Not only that, but I would also like to say one more thing: that we were able to expose Pakistan,' he added. Echoing this sentiment, Ahluwalia thanked Prime Minister Modi for the opportunity to showcase India's stance on the global stage. "Context of Operation Sindoor was tremendously appreciated," All-Party Delegation member Sasmit Patra says
Madrid [Spain] June 3 (ANI): All-Party Delegation member and BJP MP Sasmit Patra said that his delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, had successfully completed its four-nation visit on Tuesday. Patra said that the context of Operation SIndoor was appreciated everywhere. 'The context of Operation Sindoor was tremendously appreciated by people who felt that India has a right to protect itself from the barbarism that is happening in the terrorist camps,' he said. Patra recounted how in all the countries that they visited- Liberia, UAE, DRC and Sierra Leone, they were met with support. In conversation with ANI, Patra said, 'Our delegation, led by MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, has very successfully completed its four-nation visit as the all-party delegation today. We started with the UAE, where we found tremendous support and blessings from the people of the UAE and all their leadership in our fight against terrorism. From there, we moved to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where there was tremendous condemnation of the kind of terrorist attack that was barbarically undertaken by the terrorists in Pahalgam. We came to Sierra Leone, where the country's parliament stood up in one voice, mourning for one minute in silence the barbaric attack that was done by the terrorists in Pahalgam,' he said. Patra said that in Liberia, the National Assembly Speaker held a minute's silence in memory of the innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack. 'We came to Liberia today in the Senate, as well as in the meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Liberia, one minute's silence was held with each of them standing in memory of those who were so mercilessly killed by the terrorists in Pahalgam,' he said. Patra said that all these responses by various countries show that India clearly presented Pakistan's terrorist agenda in front of the world. Monrovia [Liberia], June 3 (ANI): In a significant diplomatic outreach, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, leading an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation became the only Indian Member of Parliamentto address two West African parliaments -- the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Republic of Liberia, a statement from Shinde's office quoting him said. Delivering a powerful speech in Liberia's Parliament, he emphasised the need for global unity against terrorism, highlighting India's long-standing struggle with the menace. 'Terrorism is no longer a regional threat; it is a global menace. As representatives from across India's political spectrum, we are here to expose this hidden war. India urges all nations to adopt a policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism,' said Shinde. Shinde stressed that terrorism knows no borders and urged all nations to adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism 'Terrorism knows no borders. The time has come for all countries to unite and support India's global campaign against terrorism,' said Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, as per the statement. The Indian delegation received a warm welcome from the Speaker of the Liberian Parliament, Richard Nagbe Koon, and Deputy Speaker Thomas P Fallah. In a meeting with Senate President Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Shinde demanded that Pakistan be reinstated on the FATF grey list due to its ongoing support for terrorist groups. 'Pakistan has long been a hub for terror organizations. Despite its earlier placement on the FATF grey list, its support for terrorism continues unchecked. India strongly urges the international community to reinstate Pakistan on the FATF grey list,' the statement quoted Shinde as saying. Liberia assured its full support for India's anti-terrorism campaign, with the Liberian Senate observing a two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. On Monday, Shinde and the Indian delegation met with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and Foreign Affairs Minister Sarah Beslow Nyanti. Liberia assured its full support for India's anti-terrorism campaign. Speaker Koon also underscored the importance of regional unity among West African nations in the fight against terrorism. As a mark of solidarity, the Liberian Senate, on the direction of Senate President Karnga-Lawrence, observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in India, as per the statement. Reaffirming the enduring friendship between India and Liberia, Shinde noted the two nations' strong bilateral ties and India's support during Liberia's times of crisis. As part of an African tour initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an all-party parliamentary delegation led by Shinde arrived in Monrovia on Sunday. Shinde's visit strengthened bilateral ties between India and Liberia, with the Indian delegation receiving a warm welcome and ceremonial honors. The delegation also interacted with the Indian diaspora and visited the Gurudwara in Monrovia.
