CAIRO, June 5 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Thursday received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, as they exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eidul Adha and wished their peoples and all Islamic nations more progress and prosperity.
The spokesman for the presidency said that the two leaders emphasized the importance of avoiding escalation in the region and preventing it from descending into a broader military conflict that could have serious repercussions on the regional security and stability. (MENA)

2,215 inmates freed per Eid al-Adha presidential pardon
CAIRO – 6 June 2025: The Ministry of Interior said it had released 2,215 inmates from correctional and rehabilitation centers per a presidential pardon issued to mark Eid al Adha 2025. The move comes as part of a decision by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to pardon the remainder of prison sentences for certain inmates who met the conditions for presidential amnesty during the Eid. Families of the freed inmates expressed joy at their relatives' changed behavior and thanked the president for giving them a second chance to reintegrate into society. As part of the holiday celebrations, the Interior Ministry also held Eid prayers in rehabilitation centers, The ministry said the initiative reflects its commitment to providing comprehensive care to inmates and implementing measures to reintegrate rehabilitated inmates into society.

Taarek Refaat Police officers from various security directorates joined citizens in celebrating Eid al-Adha, taking to the streets and squares to offer their congratulations and distribute flowers to passersby and motorists.
