Nearly 100 Central European designers to showcase collections at Budapest fashion week
Designers from the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine will join Hungarian talents at this year's event. For the first time, fashion and textile design graduates from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) will debut their diploma collections, offering insight into the next generation's creative vision.
MDDÜ CEO Zsófia Jakab emphasized BCEFW's mission to support young talent. 'The inclusion of METU and MOME in the official programme is a key milestone for both students and the industry,' she said, noting that talent development actively shapes the profession's present.
The event will open at the Hungarian National Museum on 1 September with METU's 26 graduating designers. MOME's annual Fashion Show will follow on 4 September at its Zugligeti campus, accompanied by a symposium and exhibition. Key fashion shows will take place 5–7 September at the Apolló Gallery and Millenáris Building D, while the National Dance Theatre will host the Fashion Hub, roundtables, and workshops.
Young designers will account for nearly 60% of presenting brands, a result of BCEFW's talent platforms such as Young Talents and New Generation showcases. Additional opportunities will be provided through Fashion Hub presentations and the 'Kerülj képbe! Designer of the Year' initiative.
With an expected 5,000–6,000 visitors, the event will also welcome international fashion editors, stylists and experts. According to MDDÜ, BCEFW aims to increase awareness and demand for Hungarian brands and strengthen the country's creative economy.

GVH launches investigation into Ryanair over suspected unfair online booking practices
The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has initiated a competition supervision proceeding against Ryanair, suspecting the Irish-based low-cost airline of engaging in unfair commercial practices during its online ticket booking process, the authority announced on Tuesday. According to the GVH, Ryanair's Hungarian-language website may mislead consumers in multiple ways, particularly when booking return trips or tickets for multiple passengers. The authority suspects that the airline fails to adequately inform users that fare package prices and optional services—such as baggage and boarding preferences—must be paid separately for each leg and for each passenger. The GVH highlighted the way prices for fare options like 'Regular', 'Plus', and 'FlexiPlus', as well as optional services like 'Priority Boarding with 2 Cabin Bags' and 'Security Fast Track', are displayed. These practices may pressure consumers into choices they would not otherwise make. The authority also raised concerns about potential psychological pressure during the booking process, citing the use of colors, visuals, and prompts that present the 'Regular' fare as more attractive than the basic fare—despite the possibility of obtaining the same services at a lower total cost by adding them manually to the 'Basic' fare. GVH further noted that pop-up windows and urgency-inducing messages promoting the 'Fast Track' service may unduly limit consumer choice, amounting to another suspected unfair practice. While the launch of the investigation does not imply that a violation has occurred, the GVH will now assess the facts and determine whether Ryanair breached Hungarian competition rules. The process may take up to three months, extendable twice for two additional months each, if needed. The GVH underlined that it has closely monitored the domestic aviation market in recent years, previously conducting a sector-wide analysis in 2022 on the use of psychological tactics and so-called 'dark patterns' by low-cost carriers and price comparison websites.

FM: Hungaroring redevelopment is world's most spectacular sports infrastructure upgrade
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, described the 2025 redevelopment of the Hungaroring as 'the most spectacular sports infrastructure upgrade in the world this year' during remarks made in Mogyoród following talks with Formula-1 Group CEO Stefano Domenicali. The minister emphasized that the recent transformation of the Hungarian Formula 1 venue over the past 12–13 months had 'impressed the entire Formula-1 world, including its management, rights holders and teams.' He added that other race promoters were present to observe the improvements. 'They see what they'll need to do at other locations worldwide,' he said. Minister Szijjártó underlined that despite the scale of the development, Hungary did not cancel a single Grand Prix. 'The series' leadership refers to our project as a model for future F1 developments,' he stated, highlighting that the upgrade retained a uniquely Hungarian character while aligning with global standards and preserving a 40-year tradition. He also said the project had prompted Formula 1 leadership to 'naturally consider' keeping the Hungarian Grand Prix on the calendar beyond 2032. 'We didn't carry out these world-class developments just to stop in 2032,' he noted. Szijjártó emphasized that the 10-month project delivered GDP impacts of HUF 25–30 billion in a single race weekend and brought significant international exposure. 'This proves that even seemingly impossible projects can be realized swiftly with political will and expertise,' he said. 'Hungary benefits greatly from Formula 1.'

Defence Minister: Government committed to maintaining and developing Hungarian Grand Prix
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Minister of Defence, reaffirmed the Hungarian government's commitment to maintaining and expanding the Hungarian Grand Prix during a statement at the Hungaroring on Sunday, coinciding with the 40th anniversary race weekend in Mogyoród. The minister noted that he had met with Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, who praised the speed and quality of recent renovations at the venue. 'He was almost lost for words when discussing the renewed infrastructure,' Szalay-Bobrovniczky said, highlighting the strategic value of the event for both parties. He confirmed that Hungary's promoter agreement had already been renewed for five years, with provisions for further extension. 'The Hungarian government is dedicated to keeping this event here, and to its continuous development and strengthening,' he said, noting full alignment with Formula 1 leadership on this objective. Szalay-Bobrovniczky described the recent renovation as a 'major leap forward' in the Hungaroring's history. He emphasized the event's significance as a national showcase, citing its ability to attract 300,000 attendees over a weekend and hundreds of millions of viewers globally. 'Through the Grand Prix, Hungary has the chance to present itself. The images broadcast show Budapest and the country, and the GDP impact of hosting the race runs into tens of billions,' he said.
