FM: Hungaroring redevelopment is world's most spectacular sports infrastructure upgrade
The minister emphasized that the recent transformation of the Hungarian Formula 1 venue over the past 12–13 months had 'impressed the entire Formula-1 world, including its management, rights holders and teams.' He added that other race promoters were present to observe the improvements. 'They see what they'll need to do at other locations worldwide,' he said.
Minister Szijjártó underlined that despite the scale of the development, Hungary did not cancel a single Grand Prix. 'The series' leadership refers to our project as a model for future F1 developments,' he stated, highlighting that the upgrade retained a uniquely Hungarian character while aligning with global standards and preserving a 40-year tradition.
He also said the project had prompted Formula 1 leadership to 'naturally consider' keeping the Hungarian Grand Prix on the calendar beyond 2032. 'We didn't carry out these world-class developments just to stop in 2032,' he noted.
Szijjártó emphasized that the 10-month project delivered GDP impacts of HUF 25–30 billion in a single race weekend and brought significant international exposure. 'This proves that even seemingly impossible projects can be realized swiftly with political will and expertise,' he said. 'Hungary benefits greatly from Formula 1.'

Government Info: Home Start ushers in new era for young homeowners, as government moves to shield jobs and industry
Minister Gergely Gulyás called Hungary's new Otthon Start program the most significant homeownership initiative since the regime change, highlighting its economic and social impact at Tuesday's government press briefing. Joined by State Secretary Miklós Panyi and Spokesperson Eszter Vitályos, Gulyás said the scheme reflects a long-term commitment to supporting young people through stable housing, while responding to external economic threats with a parallel job and industry protection plan. The program, launching 1 September, offers first-time buyers up to HUF 50 million in loans at a fixed 3 percent interest rate over 25 years, with just 10 percent self-financing required. Eligible properties must fall under a HUF 100 million cap for flats or HUF 150 million for houses, and meet a price ceiling of HUF 1.5 million per square metre. 'Even with average wages and little savings, young people can now take the first step toward owning a home,' Gulyás said. 'We are not considering a rental scheme—this is about long-term stability through ownership.' More than 100,000 properties currently meet the program's criteria, with additional listings expected as previously withheld homes re-enter the market. Developers will be incentivized: housing projects with at least 250 units—70 percent of which comply with price limits—may qualify as strategic investments. The goal is to initiate 20,000–25,000 new housing projects that otherwise would not launch. According to Gulyás and Panyi, the program could lead to the construction of 50,000 new apartments and thousands of family homes over five years, generating up to HUF 5,000 billion in investment and creating jobs across the construction sector. A dedicated Program Office, digital tools, and close coordination with banks will support rollout. In parallel, Gulyás said the government is preparing a job and industry protection action plan following consultations with major companies affected by the EU-US trade deal. He criticized the agreement as harmful and unrealistic, citing concerns from Hungarian and regional stakeholders. Turning to foreign policy, Gulyás warned of growing instability in the Balkans, calling the conviction of Bosnian Serb President Milorad Dodik a destabilizing act. 'The Balkans won't find stability through Western intervention—but through its absence,' he said.

Koncz: Hungary undergoing a family-friendly tax revolution
Hungary is undergoing a 'family-friendly tax revolution,' according to Zsófia Koncz, State Secretary for Families at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation. Speaking on M1 television Tuesday morning, she highlighted the government's continued expansion of family support measures since 2010. Koncz emphasized the exceptional scale of the latest changes. In July, the first phase of the family tax allowance doubling began, with eligible parents receiving the increased benefit in their August pay. Also in effect since July is the new 'CSED extra' scheme, allowing mothers to return to work after 90 days while still receiving 70 percent of the childcare benefit. From 1 October, families with three children will become exempt from personal income tax (PIT), with similar tax relief for two-child families and mothers under 30 set to begin in January. 'The government supports families in all life situations, ensuring parents have freedom of choice,' Koncz stated. She also discussed the Home Start Program, calling it a key pillar of the family support system. A related government decree is currently under public consultation to ensure the program can be combined with other homeownership schemes. Addressing concerns about price inflation, Koncz noted the introduction of a HUF 1.5 million per square metre price cap to prevent speculative increases. Home Start loans can be used for both home construction and purchasing pre-owned properties, she confirmed. In a separate interview on Kossuth Radio, Koncz said the scheme is clearly aimed at young people, who are already supported through PIT exemptions for under-25s and access to work-based loans.
