Koncz: Hungary undergoing a family-friendly tax revolution

She also discussed the Home Start Program, calling it a key pillar of the family support system. A related government decree is currently under public consultation to ensure the program can be combined with other homeownership schemes. Addressing concerns about price inflation, Koncz noted the introduction of a HUF 1.5 million per square metre price cap to prevent speculative increases.
Home Start loans can be used for both home construction and purchasing pre-owned properties, she confirmed.
In a separate interview on Kossuth Radio, Koncz said the scheme is clearly aimed at young people, who are already supported through PIT exemptions for under-25s and access to work-based loans.

State Secretary: No other European country offers home loans like Hungary's new 3% scheme
Hungary's newly launched fixed 3 percent home loan for first-time buyers is unmatched across Europe, Panyi Miklós, Parliamentary and Strategic State Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, said on Monday. Panyi emphasized that the government designed the new loan scheme to support young people in acquiring their first homes without inflating housing prices. 'Even with little savings and average income, and without a family, one can now safely buy a home and start an independent life,' he said. 'The left-liberal opposition knows this too—that's why they attack the program in unison,' he added. The fixed-rate loan, launching on 1 September, offers up to HUF 50 million with a maximum 25-year term. It applies exclusively to first-time home purchases, with the eligibility definition adapted to real-life situations—such as allowing those who inherited small rural properties to participate. To limit price increases, the program includes strict price caps: properties must not exceed HUF 1.5 million per square metre, and total prices are capped at HUF 100 million for apartments and HUF 150 million for houses. The government has also initiated a Housing Capital Program with a HUF 300 billion budget to boost new residential construction. Panyi said Hungary currently has around 100,000 properties on the market that meet the program's criteria, and this number is expected to rise as more previously unsold properties are relisted. He noted that major property developers are prepared to launch large-scale projects, with tens of thousands of new homes and private constructions set to begin in the coming years. 'The combination of ample housing supply, growing development, and price restrictions ensures affordability while delivering meaningful assistance to young homebuyers,' Panyi concluded.

FM: Hungaroring redevelopment is world's most spectacular sports infrastructure upgrade
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, described the 2025 redevelopment of the Hungaroring as 'the most spectacular sports infrastructure upgrade in the world this year' during remarks made in Mogyoród following talks with Formula-1 Group CEO Stefano Domenicali. The minister emphasized that the recent transformation of the Hungarian Formula 1 venue over the past 12–13 months had 'impressed the entire Formula-1 world, including its management, rights holders and teams.' He added that other race promoters were present to observe the improvements. 'They see what they'll need to do at other locations worldwide,' he said. Minister Szijjártó underlined that despite the scale of the development, Hungary did not cancel a single Grand Prix. 'The series' leadership refers to our project as a model for future F1 developments,' he stated, highlighting that the upgrade retained a uniquely Hungarian character while aligning with global standards and preserving a 40-year tradition. He also said the project had prompted Formula 1 leadership to 'naturally consider' keeping the Hungarian Grand Prix on the calendar beyond 2032. 'We didn't carry out these world-class developments just to stop in 2032,' he noted. Szijjártó emphasized that the 10-month project delivered GDP impacts of HUF 25–30 billion in a single race weekend and brought significant international exposure. 'This proves that even seemingly impossible projects can be realized swiftly with political will and expertise,' he said. 'Hungary benefits greatly from Formula 1.'
