Trooper identifies pedestrian fatally hit after losing cargo and getting out on I-135 in Wichita

Officials have identified the 69-year-old Goddard man who died in an accident on I-135 near Lincoln on Friday in Wichita.
Joel J. Troyer died after at the scene of the accident, which happened about 8:18 a.m. in the southbound lanes.
Troyer was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado in the inside lane when he 'lost cargo and stopped in the lane of traffic to retrieve the cargo,' a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper wrote in a crash report. Troyer 'exited the vehicle and retrieved the cargo before being struck' by the rear driver's side of a 2024 Kia Seltos driven by a 34-year-old Wichita man.
The man and an 8-month-old girl in the SUV weren't injured.
The incident was reported as a rollover accident. Photos show that the Kia landed on its roof.

The driver was identified in the report as Laquan Riley of Dayton. No one was injured inside the house. It is unclear how fast Riley was driving at the time of the crash. Medics took Riley to Miami Valley Hospital with suspected minor injuries, according to the report. Dayton police officers note in the report that they believe Riley was driving under the influence of alcohol. An OVI test was given, but the results are currently unknown, according to the report. At the time of writing, Montgomery County Jail records show that Riley is in custody on preliminary charges of OVI, carrying a concealed weapon, using weapons while intoxicated, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Eight cars were involved in a crash Saturday afternoon on Interstate 635 in Wyandotte County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Two people were reported to have minor injuries. Overland Park Greek community celebrates St. Dionysios Festival The crash was reported before 12:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-635, north of Kansas Avenue near Kansas City, Kansas. According to a crash log from the highway patrol, a 24-year-old man in a GMC Sierra was traveling north on I-635 when he lost control and struck an Acura sedan driven by a 20-year-old man. The Acura spun out and caused one car after another to hit each other. In total, eight vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the highway patrol. The driver of the GMC Sierra was not injured. Montville police investigate multiple car robberies, warn residents to take caution

MONTVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — Multiple car robberies and attempts were recently reported to Montville police, and the department is warning residents to take caution with warmer weather on its way. A resident on Pheasants Run Road reported two people in their driveway attempting to steal their parked vehicle, however they were unsuccessful as the alarm scared them off at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, police said. Tractor-trailer collision and fire closes I-95 north in East Lyme A resident on Massachusetts Road had their car stolen between 9 and 9:20 p.m. The vehicle was later seen traveling south on Route 32. Around 11:15 p.m. a resident on Kitemaug Road reported two people walking around a suspicious vehicle. At an unknown time, a Hyundai was stolen from a residence on Maple Avenue. The department is warning owners of Kias and Hyundais to be extra careful, as some of the manufacturer's vehicles can be stolen without a key. Police also reminded residents not to leave valuables in the car, purchase security devices and keep alarms active.
