Gaza death toll climbs as pressure builds to end Israeli war
At least 77 Palestinians were killed and 376 injured in the past 24 hours, Gaza's Health Ministry reported on Tuesday, as local and international pressure intensifies to stop Israeli airstrikes and ground operations across the enclave.
The ministry said the overall death toll since the war began on October 7, 2023, has reached 59,106, with more than 142,500 wounded, including 1,026 people killed and 6,563 injured while attempting to access humanitarian aid.
UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk condemned the latest Israeli bombings and forced evacuations in Deir al-Balah, warning they are crippling essential infrastructure and accelerating Gaza's humanitarian collapse.

He stressed that as the occupying power, Israel is legally bound to guarantee access to food, medicine, and services, not obstruct them, while cautioning that mass displacement under occupation could amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the situation in Gaza as 'unbearable,' demanding unimpeded humanitarian access and full compliance with international law.

She urged Israel to remove all restrictions on aid delivery, asserting that civilians must never be targeted and that the suffering in Gaza must end immediately.
At the regional level, the Arab League, meeting under Jordan's chairmanship, denounced Israel's use of starvation as a weapon, labeling it 'genocide' and calling for urgent international action to stop the assault and lift the blockade.
The League also demanded legal accountability for Israel's actions, rejecting unofficial aid mechanisms like the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

Iraq's financial revenues exceed 46 trillion dinars in 5 months
Shafaq News – Baghdad On Tuesday, Iraq's Ministry of Finance announced that total federal revenues exceeded 46 trillion dinars between January and May 2025. According to the data and financial tables released by the Ministry of Finance in June, the total revenues reached more than 46 trillion Iraqi dinars (Approx.. $35.08 billion). Overall, current expenditures reached about 44 trillion Iraqi dinars ($33.55 billion), according to the federal budget records. In March 2021, the Prime Minister's Financial Advisor, Mudhhir Muhammad Salih, told Shafaq News that Iraq's continued dependence on oil stems from decades of war, economic sanctions, and the ongoing political conflicts that have fragmented the country's economic resources.

Gaza Siege Committee Chief reveals Handala Ship Incident
Shafaq News – Gaza The Head of the International Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza, Zaher Birawi, on Tuesday blamed Arab and Islamic countries for their silence over the Israeli seizure of the Handala ship and accused Western governments of enabling Israeli actions. In an exclusive statement to Shafaq News, Birawi disclosed that Israeli forces had detained the ship and its 21 passengers—comprising international activists, politicians, human rights advocates, doctors, technical crew, and officials from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. He denounced the raid as 'an act of piracy in the high seas and international waters,' insisting that 'the occupying state has no right to carry out such action, and we hold it fully responsible for the safety of all activists.' Drawing from previous incidents, Birawi explained that those detained are undergoing initial arrest procedures and will likely be brought before an Israeli court on charges of 'attempting to enter the occupying state without a permit or prior approval.' The court, he noted, typically pressures detainees to sign a pledge not to repeat the attempt. 'They will not sign these Israeli documents,' he asserted, adding that courts usually try to persuade them, and if they refuse, issue deportation orders. 'These activists are not attempting to enter Israel,' he clarified. Handala ship had been en route to challenge Israel's naval blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the enclave before it was intercepted by Israeli forces last Saturday.
