One account set up by FundtheFirst.com for the 36-year-old father of two has raised $195,561 as of 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday — with a goal of $500,000.

Islam, whose wife is due to give birth to the couple's third child next month, was working a security detail at 345 Park Ave. around 6:30 p.m. Monday when Shane Tamura, a disgruntled Las Vegas security guard with a grudge against the NFL, stormed into the skyscraper that houses its headquarters with an AR-15-style assault rifle.

Police said Tamura shot and killed the four-year NYPD veteran, security guard Aland Etienne and Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner in the lobby before getting in an elevator.
He arrived on the 33rd floor, where he shot and killed Rudin Management associate Julia Hyman, who was mourned at a funeral on Wednesday, before turning the gun on himself.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, a friend of LePatner's, said Tamura blamed the NFL for a brain injury he claimed he suffered while playing high school football.
But he went to the wrong elevator bank and never made it to the NFL offices in the building.

'PO Didarul Islam was a hero from the moment he put on our uniform,' NYPD Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry said of the fallen cop this week.
'When pure evil showed up on his post last night, he stood between that evil and innocent people,' Hendry said.
'Police officers are mourning him as a friend and co-worker, but we ask all New Yorkers to honor him as the hero he was.'

Missing Fremont teen found after almost two weeks
A 16-year-old Fremont girl missing for almost two weeks was found alive Thursday afternoon, police said. Authorities said Katie Hong was found unharmed and safe and would be reunited with her family after she went missing July 25. It was not immediately clear how and where Katie was found. Katie was last spotted at a gas station on the corner of Blacow Road and Grimmer Boulevard walking south toward Irvington Community Park, police said. Investigators believed that Katie had run away to meet online associates, after they found a note written by her expressing her intention of running away to meet people who she knew only by 'online screen names,' according to a Fremont Police Department press release last Thursday. To find Katie, police relied on multiple search warrants and tried tracing her digital footprint. But at the end of last week, investigators said that they believed Katie was 'voluntarily' missing. In the wake of her disappearance, Katie's family started a GoFundMe campaign to hire private investigators, and to raise counseling support for her younger sister. Both of her parents, who are deaf, also stepped away from work to search for Katie, according to the GoFundMe page. "Praise God! We just got word that the police found Katie! Safe and unharmed! So grateful! Thank you all! This would not have been possible without you," James Han, Katie's uncle, wrote in an update to the campaign. No other information was immediately available.

Asijah Love Jones was described as 'warm-hearted' with a 'loving and sweet spirit,' according to the Georgia girl's family. It's been over two years since a stray bullet struck the 11-year-old as she slept beside her sister at their family's apartment in Griffin. Now, the man accused of firing the fatal shot is headed to prison, prosecutors said. Kionta Parks, 23, was given a life sentence Tuesday, Aug. 5, after pleading guilty to felony murder, aggravated assault and other charges in the 2023 shooting, according to Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr's office. He was also convicted of domestic terrorism, violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Carr's office said. Attorney information for Parks was not immediately available. 'No parent should have to worry about their child making it through the night because gang violence is right outside their door,' Carr said in a news release. 'While nothing can erase the pain caused by this defendant's senseless actions, we hope there's comfort in knowing that justice has been served and Asijah's memory will never be forgotten.' Investigators said Parks was a known member of the Zoo Krew street gang and was often spotted 'patrolling' the neighborhood while armed with firearms. He also had ongoing disputes with younger members within the gang, according to authorities. He targeted a fellow gang member March 13, 2023, unleashing a hail of gunfire on a vehicle as they turned into the neighborhood, prosecutors said. One of the bullets pierced the bedroom wall of a nearby apartment, hitting a sleeping Asijah. She died at the scene, authorities said. Asijah's mom and brother were also home at the time of the shooting. 'Parks ultimately fired 28 rounds that evening, with 23 rifle casings and five 9mm casings found at the scene,' Carr's office said. Authorities added that the 9mm casings matched those from a separate shooting a month earlier. Residents were hesitant to speak with police about the shootings, prosecutors said, citing Parks's use of 'violence and threats of violence to create fear.' 'When Kionta Parks pled today, he stood in front of a Judge, Asijah's parents, friends, and family,' Sheriff Darrell Dix said in the release. 'He admitted to everyone in that courtroom that he killed an 11-year-old child who had her whole life ahead of her, while his whole life has been a complete failure and waste.' Family members said Asijah was a month shy of celebrating her 12th birthday. She 'was such a loving and talented little girl with big dreams and a funny personality,' according to a GoFundMe. 'Words can not describe the pain our family is enduring right now.' Parks remained in custody at the Spalding County Jail as of Aug. 7, online records show. Griffin is about a 40-mile drive south from downtown Atlanta.
