Coronation Street confirms new love interest for Dee-Dee after killer Joel

Metro21 hours ago
Coronation Street favourite Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) has the chance of romance in upcoming episodes. But bearing in mind the fact that she's just settling into motherhood after a complicated start with her baby Laila, embarking on a new relationship is a tricky thing to navigate.
And there's also the fact that she was left badly traumatised by how her last relationship turned out.
Dee-Dee fell for fellow solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill), but it wasn't long before she discovered he was married and had a child. He insisted he and his wife were separated and she confirmed this and insisted Joel was a good man, but it took a while for him to regain Dee-Dee's trust.
Eventually the pair got engaged. Deeply religious Dee-Dee believed that sex before marriage was wrong, but Joel persuaded her otherwise.
It was eventually revealed to viewers that Joel was the person who was behind the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) – something Roy Cropper (David Neilson) had been imprisoned for. As Lauren's story was uncovered it became clear that Joel was a sick and twisted man.
When Dee-Dee discovered his crimes she was obviously appalled – and even more so because she was by then pregnant with his child. The knowledge of what Joel had done meant that Dee-Dee initially felt she wouldn't be able to bond with the baby, Laila, and she decided to give her up for adoption.
After much soul-searching she recently decided she wanted to be Laila's mum. She's now co-parenting her with her brother James (Jason Callender), who had wanted to adopt her.
This is all a lot of baggage to take into a new relationship, so in upcoming episodes when Dee-Dee realises that she's very attracted to Ollie, a new client and someone who previously flirted with her in the Rovers, she's hesitant to act on it. More Trending
She tells Alya (Sair Khan) she really likes Ollie, but there's a conflict of interest because of him being a client. She tells Ollie it wouldn't be right to get into a relationship with him, but when he goes to kiss her she kisses him back, letting her heart rule her head for once.

She tells him she's going to need to take things slowly, and later reaffirms this to James. She tells her brother she really likes this new man she's met, but she's wary of getting her heart broken again.
There's also Laila to consider, and when Ollie spots Dee-Dee in the shop with her daughter in her pram, Dee-Dee asks him to meet her for a drink later so she can explain about her home situation.

Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb breaks silence on Mack death scenes

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb has spoken out about his upcoming on-screen death. Metro revealed last week that killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) will claim his next victim – Mackenzie Boyd – in upcoming scenes. John, as viewers know, has somewhat of a hero complex, swooping in last minute to play the saviour after endangering the lives of several villagers. From spiking Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) to setting Ella Forster (Paula Lane) up, it doesn't seem like he's about to stop anytime soon. That's without mentioning the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who died before John could play the hero. A source told us: 'The John story has so many twists and turns to come and this will come as a genuine surprise to fans. 'Mack has survived quite a lot over the years but his time is well and truly up this time. 'What his exit does is set the stage for an exciting next stage to John's saga later in the autumn that will leave fans quite literally on edge.' Now actor Lawrence has been put in a difficult position about the upcoming story when questioned by the Loose Women panellists. When appearing on the ITV daytime show today to talk about the ongoing surrogacy storyline – that has seen Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) decide to be a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) – the awkward matter of his upcoming exit was addressed. 'I don't want to put you on the spot, but I'm going to,' asked Jane Moore. 'There's lots of rumours that Mack might be getting killed off.' Lawrence, visibly squirming, replied: 'Yeah, there are lots of rumours. And rumours they shall remain.' Quick thinking – though Denise Welch didn't look too convinced. Co-host Coleen Nolan then chimed in, asking: 'If that was the case, I'm not saying it is or it isn't, [but] do they discuss that with you straight away or about a month before it's happening?' 'It's never brutal,' he replied, being extremely cautious about his wording. 'I've always said, being in the show, I never want to be too prescriptive with it. 'I've always enjoyed doing what I'm doing. Ultimately if and when, – if, when – the time for Mack to leave comes, whether that be my choice or the writer-producers, I'll be thankful for the time that I've had.' He concluded: 'Ultimately, nobody is safe in the show. It's most dangerous village in the country.' Anchor Christine Lampard then stepped up to offer a much needed reprieve from the interrogation, introducing a clip from an upcoming episode. Mack made his debut five years ago when he turned up at Butlers Farm as the long-lost younger sibling of Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb). Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? He also swiftly embarked on a relationship with Charity, who was seeing Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) at the time of their one night stand. More Trending In the years since, Mack has been at the centre of numerous stories, including a one night stand with Chloe Harris, which led to the birth of his son Reuben. The storyline led to Charity and Mack splitting up but ultimately they found their way back to one another and have been happy in the years since, but it seems it could all be set to end in tragedy if John does in fact kill Mack. Coronation Street quietly recasts star after just a year onscreen – and FOURTH actor to play role is already filming

CORONATION Street has quietly recast a star after just a year on screen - with a fourth actor set to take over the role. The ITV soap is sadly losing child star Carter-J Murphy in the role of Harry Platt, son of Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien). 2 But it's for a good reason as the actor has landed a huge role in Matilda the Musical. He could no longer fit in time on the cobbles with the tour so has had to step away from his role of a year. Speaking to press about the change-up last year, actor Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, said: "They've just recast the lad who plays Harry. "Carter is very, very confident." Now an actor called Josh has taken over the role and will soon be seen on screen in the coming weeks. Young actor Carter is succeeding twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes as Harry. The pair had been playing the character from 2017 onwards. Sean Ward). Callum was murdered by Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) before Harry's birth. The villain's body was then concealed underneath No.8's annex. Harry Platt celebrates his 8th birthday on Coronation Street Harry's on-screen cousin Lily Platt was recently also recast. Young actress Brooke Malonie had been playing the character since June 2016. Soap characters who've been recast Soap operas are staple viewing for many people, but even some of the most famous characters have been played by different actors. Here are some examples from over the years. Coronation Street Tracy Barlow: Kate Ford took on the role of Corrie legend Tracy Barlow in 2002. Before Kate, three other actresses had played Tracy - most notably Dawn Acton from 1988 to 1999. Nick Tilsley: Ben Price has been playing Gail's oldest child in 2009, but the former Footballers' Wives star is the third actor to take on the part. Sarah Platt: Although Tina O'Brien debuted as Sarah Platt in 1999, she is the third actress who has played the iconic role of Sarah Platt. David Platt: Completing the line-up of Gail's children, David was initially played by Thomas Ormson for a decade before Jack P. Shepherd took over. Daniel Osbourne: For almost a decade, the role of Ken Barlow's son Daniel has been portrayed by actor Rob Mallard. Before Rob joined, two other actors had previously played Daniel. Bethany Platt: Fans know Lucy Fallon as Bethany nowadays but before her, three other actresses had stepped into the character's shoes. Kirk Sutherland: Before Andy Whyment took on the role of Kirk, he played by an uncredited actor in his very first appearance. Todd Grimshaw: Gareth Pierce stepped into the role of Todd back in 2020, becoming the second performer to play this part. Summer Spellman: Harriet Bibby became the second actress to play Summer, taking over the role from Matilda Freeman in 2020. Ryan Connor: Ryan Prescott currently plays the long-running character, but Ben Thompson and Sol Heras had earlier portrayed the role. EastEnders Martin Fowler: Although Martin was the first baby born on-screen in EastEnders, he hasn't always been played by the same person. His current portrayer, James Bye, is the third actor to star as the character. Peter Beale: Seven actors have portrayed Ian Beale's elder son, with the current actor, Thomas Law, in his second stint as the character. Ben Mitchell: Ben has been played by a total of six actors - with Max Bowden bowing out of the role in March 2024. Bobby Beale: Before Clay Milner Russell, Ian's younger son had been played by four other actors. Freddie Slater: Bobby's best mate, Freddie Slater, had been previously played by twins Alex and Tom Kilby before Bobby Brazier took over in 2022. Chelsea Fox: Former Coronation Street actress Zaraah Abrahams took over the role of Chelsea in 2020. The character had been first played by Tiana Benjamin from 2006 to 2010. Lauren Branning: Jacqueline Jossa took on the role of Lauren in 2010, succeeding Madeline Duggan who'd played her from 2006 to 2010. Johnny Carter: Johnny has been played by three actors since debuting in 2013 - most recently, Charlie Suff has taken on the role. However Grace Ashcroft-Gardner has taken over the role of Lily, making her debut last month in a terrifying siege storyline.
