Himachal CM interacts with Sarchi village people
As part of 'Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar' initiative of the state government, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited Sharchi village of Banjar constituency of Kullu district on Wednesday evening.
CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stayed overnight at the residence of retired Subedar Anoop Ram in Sharchi village. During the visit, the CM interacted with villagers, right from children to the elderly and women. The villagers informed the CM about the day to day challenges they face. The CM gave on-the-spot directions to officers to ensure timely resolution of the issues raised by the people.
Sukhu assured the villagers that adequate budgetary provisions would be made to fulfil their demands. He directed the public works department to widen and upgrade the Nagladi–Sharchi road. He further mentioned that proper drainage would be constructed alongside the road and paver blocks, where necessary, would be constructed to ensure long-term maintenance.
Additionally, the CM announced a grant of one lakh rupees each to five women's self-help groups from the Sharchi gram panchayat. He informed the villagers about the schemes and initiatives started by the state government. He also briefed about the special revenue Lok Adalats being organised at the tehsil and sub-tehsil levels aimed to resolve long-pending revenue cases in a time-bound manner.
'It brings me great joy to be among you,' the CM said. 'Since the formation of this government, I have made it a priority to personally visit remote areas and understand people's problems in order to resolve them. Sharchi is the last village in the Banjar area, surrounded by scenic mountains and forests. I have already visited Dodra Kwar, Kupvi, and Pangi as part of this program and spent valuable time with the people there. My cabinet colleagues are also visiting different areas to address public issues.'

Himachal to sell ₹800-crore securities to procure loan
The cash-strapped Himachal Pradesh government will take loan by selling government stock (securities) worth ₹800 crore for carrying out development works of the state. A notification regarding this was issued by the state finance department and published in the official gazette on Friday. An auction in this regard would be held by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at Mumbai on June 3 and the successful bidder would have to make the payment by June 4, an official said. The state government has a debt of ₹1.03 lakh crore though the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government in the state has been blaming the BJP for 'financial mismanagement and pushing the state into debt trap'. The committed liability of the government on payment of salary and dearness allowance (DA) to employees and the pensioners was about ₹30,000 crore per annum, and 13% pending DA installments and arrears of revised pay scales are yet to be cleared. According to the notification, the loan will be credited to the government's account on June 3 and repaid over 20 years, with the final repayment due by June 4, 2045. The interest would be on half yearly basis in December and June. The government has stated that the borrowed amount will be used for developmental works across the state. Sources in the finance department revealed that after disbursing salaries and pensions for state employees, the treasury is left with limited funds, making additional borrowing necessary to meet ongoing financial commitments and fund development projects. CM Sukhu, while speaking during the budget session in March, had said that his government in the last two years, took loans worth ₹29,046 crore, out of which ₹12,266 crore were spent on paying interest and ₹8,087 crore on debt repayment and only ₹8,693 crore were available for developmental works. It may be mentioned that the reduction in RDG and lowering the borrowing limit caused a loss of ₹3,000 crore to the government and it also imposed a cut of ₹1,700 crore in borrowing, following restoration of the old pension scheme.

Himachal: 700 home guard volunteers to be recruited
The state cabinet, in its meeting under the chairmanship of chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, on Saturday decided to fill 700 posts of home guard volunteers in the home guards and civil defence department. It also gave nod to regularise the services of 203 panchayat secretaries (zila parishad cadre) who have completed two years of contractual services on March 31. The cabinet also approved an amendment to the Postgraduate/Specialist Services (PG/SS) Policy by withdrawing the mandatory requirement of one-year field posting prior to eligibility for senior residency at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda. The decision has been taken in line with the policy followed at AIIMS, Chamiyana. The amendment is aimed at streamlining the selection process, ensuring fairness and bringing coherence between the implementation of the Resident Doctor Policy and the PG/SS Policy. Apart from this, the cabinet approved shifting of the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) office from Shimla to Dharamshala. This will be the third office to shift to Dharmashala after Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) and office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wildlife Wing. Relocating the office is not just to decongest Shimla but also part of a cost-cutting exercise by the government to shift offices operating from rented buildings in state's capital to vacant facilities in Dharamsala – the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh. As in 2010, the cabinet gave its in-principle approval to start de-novo reservation roster for the members and chairpersons of Panchayati Raj Institutions. It allowed the Himachal Pradesh Forest Development Corporation to collect minor minerals and carry out dredging operations in rivers and ponds located in forest areas across the state, with the aim of better source management and environmental sustainability. It decided to bifurcate the Elementary Education Block, Ramshahar, Solan district, by creating a new block in Baddi along with creation and filling up of the requisite posts to ensure smooth functioning. It also decided to re-organise the development blocks of Sulah, Bhawarna and Lambagaon of Kangra district and Bharanj of Hamirpur district to facilitate the people of these areas.
