Transfer news live: Liverpool set Isak deadline, Spurs accelerate Eze bid, Donnarumma to Man Utd update
The Reds still hold an interest in Isak, who was absent from Newcastle's opening weekend draw at Aston Villa on Saturday, but they will need to spend big money to secure him. The club also remain in talks with Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi and the London side may want to cash in before his contract expires next summer.
Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to pull off a £55m deal for Eberechi Eze after taking the lead over Arsenal in the race to sign the Crystal Palace winger. Eze started Palace's Premier League opener against Chelsea on Sunday even as negotiations ramp up over his future, with Spurs keen to add to their squad after James Maddison's injury and Son Heung Min's departure.
Manchester United have spent big on new forwards and may rival Manchester City for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma – particularly after Altay Bayindir's error in the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal and Andre Onana's absence from the squad. They will need to make some sales with Jadon Sancho being targeted by Besiktas and Roma, Antony wanted by Benfica and Chelsea interested in Alejandro Garnacho.
Liverpool set deadline in pursuit of Alexander Isak
The saga that has rolled on for most of the summer concerns Alexander Isak, Newcastle and Liverpool.
The Premier League champions submitted a £110m bid for Newcastle's main forward but that was rejected out of hand and the Reds moved to sign Hugo Ekitike.
They have remained interested in Isak but the weekend's results prove that Newcastle need his services more than Liverpool do.
The latest in this move is that Liverpool have made Isak their priority for the closing weeks of the window but want the deal done sooner than later.
They've set a deadline of next week to get an agreement done with Newcastle otherwise they will move on to other targets.

Will Wolves 'miss the train' with signings this time?
Wolves' first game of the season does not seem to have shifted the dial much on expectations. It does say something about the stratified nature of the modern Premier League that a club - established in the division for several seasons - can lose 4-0 at home on the opening day and there be no sudden sense of shock was fair enough for Vitor Pereira to talk up his team, but - as has been the case for a while - the part of his comments that attracted most attention was about the strength of the squad. "This is the time to make an offer and to help the team. We need help, so I hope the club can help us."But reading between the lines of the comments of managers, especially those not speaking in their first language, is a bad habit, best Wolves have moved since Saturday, adding Jackson Tchatchoua to address the problem left by Nelson Semedo's departure. The impact of the other recent signings on Saturday was limited - David Moller Wolfe was the only one to start - but we can reasonably expect them to feature more strongly as they settle there, specifically, is the issue I've most often heard raised by Wolves supporters recently. The notion that Wolves 'write off August' has caught on, on the basis that since they returned to the Premier League in 2018, they have won only one league game before the start of September. This, it is argued, is a symptom of their tardiness in making signings every summer - a lack of preparedness always putting them under is not entirely fair. It isn't really credible to think a club will consciously 'write off' any games, even when expectations are so low as they were for Wolves against Manchester is not the only Premier League manager recently heard wondering when his club will get on with signing players, and some have done so rather more impatiently. Every coach hopes his full squad will be together for the start of pre-season, but the timing of the transfer window, and the sums of money in play, encourage Wolves' case, though, it seems several key players leave at the start of each summer, so there is always the feeling of having to do more than others to catch up, and the fear that this time they might not manage to jump on the train that is already leaving the to full commentary of Bournemouth v Wolves at 15:00 BST on Saturday on BBC Radio WM 95.6FMAnd tune into The West Midlands Football Phone-In from 18:00 on weeknightsExplore Wolves content on BBC Sounds

Liverpool and Man City stars in world class £343m XI available for FREE next summer
There's just under two weeks left of the current transfer market but some Premier League clubs could potentially be starting plans for next year with a host of stars available on free transfers With the transfer window entering the final stretches, Premier League clubs have not been afraid to splash the cash. Champions Liverpool could potentially move take their summer spend beyond the £400m mark with a British-record swoop for Alexander Isak. Their top-flight rivals have also spent heavily too, with Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United having all spent huge amounts. Given their vast outlays already, some teams may now be tempted to look for a few bargains before the window 'slams' shut. A number of free agents such as Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jamie Vardy and Kurt Zouma all remain without clubs. But the opportunity to land top talents without dipping into their summer budget, could be even more tantalising in 2026 with a host of top talents primed to be out of contract. In fact, an XI of nearly £350m worth of talent are available for nothing in just 12 months' time according to Sportingpedia. And clubs only have to wait a few months to engage in talks with those players. With that being said, take a look a look at some of the best players who could be on the move completely for free this time next year: Starting in goal, we have a player who could actually be on the move over the final couple of weeks of the window. Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma - who is valued at £34.5m - has just one year remaining on his Paris Saint-Germain deal. But he has been told he can leave the club this summer amid interest from Manchester City. Moving into defence, there are a few Premier League stars who could be on the move. Everton's Vitalii Mykolenko has just one year remaining on his contract, which would see the Toffees lose out on an estimated £24m. Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi also has less than a year remaining on his deal. He is another who could move this summer amid interest from Liverpool. And they could get a bargain given his £38.8m valuation. Ironically, Guehi could potentially replace another star in this XI. Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate - who is worth around £51m - is out of contract in a year's time and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. Dayot Upamecano - rated at £43m - could also join his compatriot in being on the move sooner rather than later. He has just a season remaining on his contract with current employers Bayern Munich. Real Madrid starlet Raúl Asencio claims the right side, with his value sitting at £34.5m. The midfield is also stacked with plenty of talent. Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong - who has constantly been linked with Manchester United - is valued at £38.8m but could be available for nothing very soon. Meanwhile, Premier League duo Rodrigo Bentancur and Bernardo Silva could potentially be leaving Tottenham and Man City respectively on frees next summer. The pair hold a joint value of around £58.7m. Moving to the frontline, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has less than a year on his contract in Turin. Given he was signed for £66m and is now valued at just £30.2m, that would represent a huge loss for the Italian giants. Brentford forward Yoane Wissa is the final inclusion in the out-of-contract XI but he could also move on well before then. He is valued at £27.6m, albeit the Bees are demanding considerably more than that this summer amid interest from Newcastle as they attempt to find a replacement for Alexander Isak. Out of contract XI: Donnarumma; Asencio, Guehi, Konate, Upamecano, Mykolenko; De Jong, Silva, Bentancur; Wissa, Vlahovic. Transfer news LIVE: Spurs ‘consider SHOCK new Eze offer', Liverpool to make British record bid for Isak, Wissa latest
Isak drama In case you missed it, Alexander Isak FINALLY broke his silence on his refusal to play for Newcastle. And the Swedish striker claimed the club have broken promises made to him about a potential move away from St James' Park. He said: ""I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. "That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. "The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. "When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. "That's where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."
