Noida International Airport Jewar: Noida International Airport is now set to begin domestic flights and cargo operations in September 2025, with international services expected to follow by November 2025. The announcement was made by Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi. This marks the third delay in the airport's scheduled launch since its foundation stone was laid in November 2021 — will be completed by November this year. However, the airport was first expected to be completed by September 2024. However, the deadline was moved to April 2025, and then delayed again to May–June due to incomplete work on the terminal building. In March, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set new targets — May 15 for starting domestic flights and June 25 for international operations. Jewar Airport's Phases Costs The Noida airport in Jewar is being built in four phases with an investment of Rs 29,650 crore. The first phase, costing Rs 10,056 crore, is designed to cater to 12 million passengers annually. It will have one runway and one terminal building. By the fourth phase, the airport is expected to become operational in 2040. The airport will have the capacity to handle 70 million passengers annually. Second Major Commercial Airport Once finished, the 1,334-hectare Noida airport will be the second major commercial airport in the National Capital Region, after Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Right now, the only other functioning airport in the NCR is Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, which runs a few commercial flights under the control of the Indian Air Force.

'Patak patak ke marenge': BJP MP Dubey targets Thackerays amid language; draws Aaditya's ire
NEW DELHI: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Monday triggered a fierce political row in Maharashtra after warning opponents that 'tumko patak patak ke marenge' (we'll thrash you thoroughly) while responding to MNS chief Raj Thackeray 's call to target Hindi speakers. Speaking in Guwahati, Dubey told ANI, 'You people are surviving on our money. What kind of industries do you have?... If you are courageous enough and beat those who speak Hindi, then you should beat all those who speak Urdu, Tamil, and Telugu. If you are such a big 'boss', come out of Maharashtra, come to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu - 'tumko patak patak ke maarenge'.' "We all respect Marathi and the people of Maharashtra, who fought for India's independence. The BMC election is due, and hence, Raj and Uddhav are doing cheap politics. If they have courage - they should go to Mahim and beat any Hindi or Urdu speaking people in front of Mahim dargah," the BJP MP further added. — ANI (@ANI) Leading the response was Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray, who accused the BJP of attempting to fracture Maharashtra through divisive rhetoric. 'This is exactly the BJP's mentality, which is anti-Maharashtra,' he told reporters. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo 'We have asked everyone not to react to such crazy and dirty minds because they want to create fear and instability in Maharashtra… This mentality of the BJP's MP represents the entire BJP; this does not represent North India.' Thackeray stressed that the issue was not between languages but an orchestrated effort by the BJP to inflame tensions for electoral benefit. 'People from all over the country come to Maharashtra with dreams and hopes… Our fight is against the government, not against any language,' he said. Criticising Dubey's remarks as 'shameless,' Aaditya added: 'Dubey is not the face of North Indians. He represents the BJP… These remarks were made with a political intent to divide Marathi and Hindi-speaking people.' Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe Patil dismissed Dubey's intervention as ignorant. 'He is foolish. This controversy is not about language,' Patil said. 'It is about whether two other languages, besides their mother tongue, should be taught to students of Std 1 to 4. The child can get confused… Congress respects all languages but is against diverting from 'Balmanasshastra' and confusing children.' NCP-SCP MLA Rohit Pawar accused Dubey of importing poll strategies from Bihar to stir unrest in Maharashtra. 'I request Nishikant Dubey ji not to try and implement election strategies specific to Bihar in Maharashtra. While he is thinking of the West Bengal and Bihar elections, he is disturbing the sense of equality in Maharashtra,' he said. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also demanded accountability from the state leadership. 'Earlier, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar compared Marathi Hindus with Pahalgam terrorists, and now Nishikant Dubey has made a statement. I want to ask the CM, why does he go quiet when it comes to standing for the state?' The row comes amid a larger political campaign by MNS and Shiv Sena factions, who have joined forces to oppose what they call the imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra's schools. The state government recently reversed its earlier decision to introduce Hindi as a third language in primary schools, but the controversy has continued to escalate.

(Video: ANI/DD News) — ANI (@ANI) July 7, 2025 STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Hosted by Brazil from July 7 to 9, the summit brought together leaders from the original Brics members — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — as well as newly inducted members Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Indonesia, marking a key moment of unity and strategic cooperation. According to the Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi participated in the summit held on July 6–7 and engaged in discussions focused on reforming global governance, amplifying the voice of the Global South, peace and security, multilateralism, development challenges, and the role of Artificial Intelligence. The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for the warm hospitality and successful organisation of the summit. In his address to the inaugural session on 'Reform of Global Governance and Peace and Security,' the Prime Minister reaffirmed India's commitment to enhancing the voice of the Global South. He noted that developing countries required greater support for sustainable development, especially in terms of access to climate finance and technology. Highlighting that the global organisations of the 20th century could not deal with the challenges of the 21st century, he underscored the need for reforming them. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Calling for a multipolar and inclusive world order, PM Modi said that global governance institutions such as the UN Security Council, the IMF, the World Bank, and the WTO must undergo urgent reform to reflect contemporary realities. He thanked the leaders for highlighting the urgency of UN Security Council reform and adopting strong language on the issue in the Summit Declaration. On Peace and Security, the Prime Minister underlined that terrorism was a grave threat facing humanity. In this context, he noted that the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025 was not just an attack on India but an onslaught on all of humanity. Calling for strong global action against terrorism, the Prime Minister emphasised that those funding, promoting, or providing safe havens to terrorists must be dealt with in the harshest terms. He stressed that there should be no double standards in dealing with terrorism and thanked the BRICS leaders for condemning the Pahalgam terror attack in the strongest terms. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Calling upon the BricsS countries to strengthen the global fight against terrorism, he emphasised that there should be zero tolerance in dealing with the menace, as per the statement. Further elaborating on the subject, the Prime Minister noted that conflicts, from West Asia to Europe, were a matter of deep concern. He added that India has always called for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve such conflicts and was ready to contribute towards such efforts. Addressing the session on 'Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs and Artificial Intelligence,' the Prime Minister expressed that diversity and multipolarity were valued strengths of Brics. He stated that at a time when the world order was under pressure and the global community was facing uncertainty and challenges, the relevance of BRICS was evident. He further added that BRICS could play an important role in shaping a multipolar world. In this regard, he offered four suggestions: one, the BRICS New Development Bank must follow demand-driven principles and long-term sustainability for granting projects; two, the group consider setting up a Science and Research repository which could benefit global south countries; three, focus must be given to making the supply chain of critical minerals secure and resilient; and four, the group should work for responsible AI–while looking into the concerns of AI governance, it should also give equal importance to promoting innovation in the field, the statement said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD After the Leaders' Session, the member countries adopted the 'Rio de Janeiro Declaration'. In the declaration, Brics leaders strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, as well as military strikes on Iran, stressing the importance of upholding international law, nuclear safeguards, and counter-terrorism cooperation. The grouping also formally inducted Indonesia as a full member and welcomed ten other nations - including Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Bolivia, and Vietnam - as new partner countries, signalling a major expansion of the bloc's outreach. Despite a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape, Brics reaffirmed its commitment to multilateralism, sustainable development, and peaceful conflict resolution. The leaders voiced concern over growing global polarisation and the diversion of funds from development to military spending. They stressed the need for a more inclusive and balanced international order that respects national sovereignty and promotes cooperation. On the Middle East, the bloc condemned Israeli strikes on Gaza, the obstruction of aid, and called for an immediate ceasefire, Israeli military withdrawal, and a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as Palestine's capital. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD They also backed efforts to stabilise Lebanon, Syria, and Sudan, and supported African Union-led peace missions. Turning to Ukraine, the declaration acknowledged national positions, welcomed diplomatic initiatives like the African Peace Initiative, and urged a peaceful resolution through dialogue. The summit also reinforced Brics's stand on cyber and financial security. Leaders pledged deeper cooperation against cybercrime, terrorism financing, illicit financial flows, and corruption. They supported stronger legal instruments on cybercrime, disarmament, and prevention of outer space weaponisation. In a strong endorsement of humanitarian principles, Brics leaders condemned attacks on civilians and aid workers, called for respect of international humanitarian law, and stressed accountability for violations. They marked the 25th anniversary of UNSC Resolution 1325 by reaffirming the role of women in peace and security processes. As the group expands its global influence, the summit's outcomes reflect Brics intention to position itself as a leading voice for the Global South—championing peace, development, and multipolarity in an increasingly divided world.
