Kim Kardashian in talks to star in Amazon's live-action Bratz movie

Kim Kardashian is reportedly in talks to star in a new live-action Bratz movie, being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.
The film is based on the iconic MGA Entertainment fashion doll line that launched in 2001 and has sold over 200 million units globally.
Kardashian will also produce the film alongside Erik Feig and Julia Hammer of Picturestart, and Jason and Jasmin Larian for MGA Entertainment. The screenplay is being written by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick, while Isaac Larian is set to executive produce.
Amazon MGM has officially acquired the Bratz movie package, though plot details remain tightly under wraps. Kardashian's potential role marks her continued expansion into scripted entertainment, following recent appearances in American Horror Story: Delicate and the upcoming Hulu legal drama All's Fair, which she also produces. Additionally, she's producing and starring in the Netflix comedy The 5th Wheel.
This is not the franchise's first big-screen outing. The original Bratz live-action film, released in 2007 by Lionsgate, received poor critical and commercial reception. However, the new Amazon MGM version aims to reboot the brand with a modern, star-powered approach.
Polinger, who debuted at Cannes with The Plague, is also working on The Masque of the Red Death for A24. McKendrick will direct and star in Fangs, alongside Toni Collette and Joel Edgerton.
Kardashian, represented by WME, continues to expand her brand from fashion and reality TV into mainstream film and scripted content.
Deadline was first to report the news.

Next James Bond film enters new era with acclaimed director

Amazon MGM Studios officially announced on June 25 that acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the upcoming 26th James Bond film. He will also serve as an executive producer alongside his longtime collaborator Tanya Lapointe. Villeneuve, widely recognized for his work on Dune, Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, and Sicario, expressed his deep connection to the Bond franchise, calling himself a 'die-hard fan' and stating his intention to both honor the series' legacy and open a path for 'many new missions to come.' The upcoming film will be the first developed under Amazon MGM's leadership, following a joint venture finalized earlier this year with longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Prominent producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman have been brought on board to guide the new phase of the Bond universe. No casting announcements or release date have been disclosed. The deal, reportedly worth $1 billion, granted Amazon MGM creative control while retaining the legacy producers' involvement. Villeneuve is currently preparing to shoot Dune Messiah, the next installment in his Dune series. Bond pre-production is expected to begin in 2026, after that project wraps, with a likely release window of 2027 or beyond.

Kim Kardashian cast as villain in Amazon MGM's live-action Bratz movie

Kim Kardashian is set to star as the villain in Amazon MGM's upcoming Bratz live-action movie. The project has garnered significant attention after Amazon won a bidding war for the rights, aiming to replicate the success of Barbie, which grossed $1.44 billion in 2023. While specific plot and casting details are still under wraps, the film promises to bring the iconic children's toy brand to the big screen. Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick are writing the script for the film, with Erik Feig and Julia Hammer producing for Picturestart. Kardashian will also serve as a producer, alongside Jason Larian and Jasmin Larian from MGA Entertainment. Isaac Larian of MGA will executive produce the project. Bratz, which has sold over 200 million dolls since its debut in 2001, remains one of the most socially engaging toy brands, according to Amazon MGM. However, translating that success into box office performance remains uncertain, particularly after the 2005 Bratz live-action film failed at the box office. The brand has also seen multiple TV series and video game adaptations over the years. Kardashian, known for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, is expanding her presence in scripted entertainment. She recently appeared in American Horror Story alongside Emma Roberts and voiced characters in two PAW Patrol films. Additionally, she will lead Netflix's The Fifth Wheel directed by Eva Longoria and star in Ryan Murphy's upcoming drama All Is Fair.
