Millions of Brits think they're better singers than Adele and Sam Smith

A survey of 2,000 adults has revealed that 14 per cent believe they sound better than some of today's top performers – including Justin Bieber, Madonna and Adele. An impressive 69 per cent admit to singing along at gigs and festivals, while one in 10 rate their vocal talent as an eight out of 10 or higher.
However, four in ten wish they could erase the sound of their own voice or others from videos where it spoils the moment, and 31 per cent admitted they may have 'enjoyed the gig a bit too much', potentially ruining other people's recordings in the process.
The study was commissioned by Samsung, which has developed an 'Audio Eraser' tool on its newly launched Galaxy S25 Edge where users can remove unwanted background noise from videos by isolating categories of sound.
Of those who watch their recordings back of gigs, 24 per cent find hearing their own performances amusing, while 22 per cent are mortified.
A third confessed their singing was worse than they realised once listening back to their footage. However, 16 per cent are impressed by their own vocal range, reports the Mirror.
Almost half admitted they find it annoying when other people sing along at gigs or festivals when they're trying to capture the moment.
Two thirds believe that poor vocals from fans can spoil an otherwise brilliant concert video, according to data from OnePoll.com. And 19 per cent have even contemplated asking someone to stop singing loudly when recording a clip of their favourite song.
The newly launched upgrade and rewards programme is known as New Galaxy Club.
Annika Bizon from Samsung remarked: "Everyone's been there, watching back that epic gig clip only to wince at hearing your own singalong vocals or the scream from the fan next to you.
"It's all part of the experience, but we get it, you want to relive the moment hearing only the artist you love."

Prince Harry 'so disappointed' by Princess Diana sisters' take on Meghan Markle

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Prince Harry "was so disappointed" upon introducing Meghan Markle to Princess Diana's two sisters, a revealing insight has suggested. The Duke of Sussex had anticipated that Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes would find resemblances to his mother, who tragically passed away when Harry was only 12. Despite Harry's belief that Diana would have been thrilled with Meghan, he faced disappointment with the reaction from her sisters. Reportedly, they failed to see the same qualities in Meghan that they cherished in Diana, dealing a further blow to Harry, now 40, as Lady McCorquodale and Lady Fellowes did not think Meghan would blend well with the Royal Family. Nonetheless, Harry married Meghan shortly after in 2018, and the couple now shares two children. These revelations come from the book 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors,' authored by Royal biographer Tom Bower. He wrote, "Harry assumed that Diana's family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and his fiancée. Both, he said, shared the same problems. He was so disappointed." Bower elaborates, "No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend. More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family.", reports the Mirror. Despite the challenges, Prince Harry remained steadfast. In his 2022 Netflix docuseries, he drew parallels between Meghan and his late mother, Princess Diana. As reported by the Express, the Duke of Sussex said: "So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her." However, it's been a difficult week for Meghan, who made headlines for all the wrong reasons after losing the opportunity to grace the cover of Vogue. Allegedly, the Duchess presented a lengthy list of extravagant demands, leading the magazine to withdraw the offer. In other news, journalist and commentator Esther Krakue criticised the Duchess, suggesting that Meghan should embrace her status as an attractive woman who married a prince, rather than attempting to position herself as a thought leader with a "particularly niche view of the world." While appearing on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Krakue discussed Meghan's recent appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, where the Duchess admitted she wouldn't know what to put on a resume. Krakue responded bluntly: "She's also never had to write a resume, let's be honest." Krakue further critiqued Meghan's efforts to advocate for complex social issues, stating: "The lens through which she views the world is very peculiar."

BBC Bargain Hunt viewers demand 'total shake up' of show as they hit out at 'utter drivel'

Antiques expert Charlie Ross was at the helm of the latest episode of the BBC's Bargain Hunt, but viewers were left unimpressed and called for a show shake-up. Fans of Bargain Hunt were left nonplussed as they tuned in for the latest offering from the popular BBC series. This most recent escapade transported viewers to the picturesque locales of King's Lynn and Swaffham in Norfolk, with the renowned auctioneer and television favourite Charlie Ross at the helm, flanked by seasoned antiques experts Caroline Hawley and David Fergus. Yet no sooner had Charlie introduced the day's red and blue teams than did viewers voice their frustrations, sensing an all-too-familiar feeling about the show, reports the Mirror. ‌ A frustrated spectator aired their grievances online, venting on X: "Bargain Hunt is so predictable. Needs a total shake up. Get rid of Charlie Ross would be first #bargainhunt." ‌ Others quickly followed suit, with another viewer lamenting their lunchtime viewing choice: "Just sat down at home to have some lunch with the wife before moving on to my next job and she's watching Bargain Hunt on @BBC – I cannot believe that utter drivel is still going and it's not changed since it first started!" ‌ Further disappointment was echoed by an additional viewer who remarked: "@BBCBargainHunt love this programme but editing a bit off today." The episode itself saw the red team's Kerri and Lorraine go head-to-head with Bruno and Tom of the blue team, each pair eager to turn a profit from their antiques sourced at a King's Lynn fair, before proceeding to the auction stage. The red team's eclectic range of finds, from a Norwegian brooch to a vintage typewriter and some dinner-service chinaware, unfortunately didn't bring in the anticipated profits, ending in a modest £40 deficit. ‌ Despite their wares not achieving a profit and falling short by £58, Lorraine remained upbeat, remarking: "Ah well, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!" Meanwhile, the blue team pinned their hopes on a retro table football set, an enchanting blue vase, and a pair of silvery collectables to charm the auction attendees. When Charlie announced the victors, the red team's elation was palpable, prompting a chuckle from him as he said: "Shrieks of delight! So much joy despite not even making a profit." ‌ The show also featured Dr Sue Gattuso regaling host Charlie Ross with Howard Carter's captivating tales, illuminating the renowned local figure's monumental discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. Charlie delved into the life and times of the celebrated Swaffham archaeologist against the serene Norfolk scenery as the episode unfolded. Bargain Hunt has aired on BBC One since March 2000. It was originally presented by David Dickinson, with Tim Wonnacott coming in from 2003. From 2016 onwards it changed to a rota of hosts with a "team of experts" presenting the series. There have been 71 series of the programme, with nearly 2,000 episodes. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!

Eamonn Holmes begs fans to 'think of him' after 'heartbreaking' health update

Eamonn Holmes asked fans to 'think of him' as he shares heartbreaking health update online - just one week after falling off his chair live on air for GB News. Eamonn Holmes asked fans to 'think of him' after sharing a heartbreaking health update on social media. The Northern Irish broadcaster recently fell off his chair while presenting the GB News Breakfast show with his co-host Ellie Costello. A loud crash was heard as the cameras focused on their guest, commentator Charlie Rowley, while Ellie could be heard saying "oh my gosh" off screen. The 65-year-old pleaded with Charlie to "carry on" as he went off air for a quick break before shortly returning. ‌ The former Good Morning Britain presenter has been working on his rehabilitation after having a spinal surgery back in 2022, for chronic back pain caused by three slipped discs, the Mirror reports. ‌ Over the past year, Eamonn has been seen to use a walking stick and a wheelchair as his mobility has become affected. One week after the incident on GB News, the star shared a nostalgic post on Instagram, reflecting on his healthier days. He shared a photograph of himself wearing a white shirt, black trousers, matching tie and a black overcoat as he stood with his hands in his pockets ready to present the news. ‌ The star captioned the photo, writing: "This pic tells me this was 3 years ago in my Home City of Belfast. I was making a big extravaganza featuring The Ulster Orchestra and Film and TV music associated with famous producers. "It actually made me very sad looking at it because I could walk then and can't now. I pray to God and the new Docs that I am seeing that all will change and change soon . Keep you posted and please think of me." ‌ Fans and friends were quick to take to the comment section, sending the star their best wishes. One user wrote: "Hang in there. Am sure it's incredibly hard and dispiriting; but here's hoping that better days are to come." Another stated: "This was my very first TV gig and it was such a special privilege to work with you Eamonn, you gave me amazing support and solid advice at working in the industry. Wishing you all the very best in your healing and thank you for being an inspiration." "I hope they can help you Eamonn. I'm recovering from spinal surgery. It's a long haul to recover but worth it. Sending positive thoughts for a good outcome for you," a third said. ‌ After he fell off his chair on air, Eamonn joked about the 'wonky wheels' at the studio. Following a quick ad break, he said: "Welcome back. Good to see you again. Especially good for me to see you again. I am still alive, yes. "And they're very wonky wheels on chairs that we've got here, and matter of fact, we don't really like the chairs full stop, do we? They're a bit slippy and slidey and I've slipped and slid off mine there." 'Not the first guest to have done so, we've had a few, they have to remain nameless because they're well known people, but they've hit the floor really badly, quite frightening." 'And it was a bit of a shock for me because I've had a fall in my bathroom two weeks ago, which hospitalised me, and that hit me again right in the back. (I'm) really, really sore. Really sore," he concluded.
