Prince Harry "was so disappointed" upon introducing Meghan Markle to Princess Diana's two sisters, a revealing insight has suggested.
The Duke of Sussex had anticipated that Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes would find resemblances to his mother, who tragically passed away when Harry was only 12. Despite Harry's belief that Diana would have been thrilled with Meghan, he faced disappointment with the reaction from her sisters.
Reportedly, they failed to see the same qualities in Meghan that they cherished in Diana, dealing a further blow to Harry, now 40, as Lady McCorquodale and Lady Fellowes did not think Meghan would blend well with the Royal Family. Nonetheless, Harry married Meghan shortly after in 2018, and the couple now shares two children.
These revelations come from the book 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors,' authored by Royal biographer Tom Bower. He wrote, "Harry assumed that Diana's family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and his fiancée. Both, he said, shared the same problems. He was so disappointed."
Bower elaborates, "No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend. More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family.", reports the Mirror.
Despite the challenges, Prince Harry remained steadfast. In his 2022 Netflix docuseries, he drew parallels between Meghan and his late mother, Princess Diana.
As reported by the Express, the Duke of Sussex said: "So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."
However, it's been a difficult week for Meghan, who made headlines for all the wrong reasons after losing the opportunity to grace the cover of Vogue. Allegedly, the Duchess presented a lengthy list of extravagant demands, leading the magazine to withdraw the offer.
In other news, journalist and commentator Esther Krakue criticised the Duchess, suggesting that Meghan should embrace her status as an attractive woman who married a prince, rather than attempting to position herself as a thought leader with a "particularly niche view of the world."
While appearing on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Krakue discussed Meghan's recent appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, where the Duchess admitted she wouldn't know what to put on a resume. Krakue responded bluntly: "She's also never had to write a resume, let's be honest."
Krakue further critiqued Meghan's efforts to advocate for complex social issues, stating: "The lens through which she views the world is very peculiar."

Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen look smitten as first wedding photos released

Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen have released an official wedding photo after they married today. Footballer Jarrod, 28, married TV star Dani in a fairytale day for the couple. They posted the first photo as a man and a wife on Instagram. Ahead of the wedding, Dani's father had given a glowing review of his new son-in-law-to-be. In the lead up to the big day, actor Danny told the Mirror: 'I have met every single boyfriend that has walked through my door - and then she brings home the West Ham captain. 'I have gone from the lying scum, and I hate them, to a man who I would not mind to tonguing myself. A strong man. If he lent in I would put my lips on this geezer. 'He is just, as a father and joking aside, he took her on with a 14 month old son and that says a lot about a man I will tell you. He is amazing. I can't wait to give her away. What a touch. But if he was to make a move on me before… "I think I'm in love with him, slightly.' Jarrod joined West Ham in 2020 and has regularly been the best player on the pitch, including when he scored the winning goal to give West Ham their first trophy in 43 years during the 2023 Europa Conference League final, Danny added: 'Okay. He plays for West Ham. He's one of West Ham's hot ones. He's the captain of West Ham. And he's unbelievable, this guy. I mean, he comes in my house. I take his shoes off for him. 'And I give him the remote control. And I say, 'Mate, this is your house now'. But he's an incredible person. I just want someone to love my daughters the way I do. "I want them to worship them and look after them. Let me tell you that. I love him.' Dani and Jarrod married this weekend after high profile hen and stag parties. Dani headed to Ibiza whilst Jarrod has been to Vegas. Dani's trip included a boozy brunch, a boat trip and a raucous night in the lavish nightclub Ushuaia.

BGT final live updates as winner 'confirmed' hours before show kicks off

Britain's Got Talent's 2025 live final is set to get underway in just a few hours time as the 10 remaining acts put on their best performance in the hopes of being crowned this year's winner. They will give everything they've got as they battle for the staggering £250,000 prize and secure a place at the Royal Variety Show in front of King Charles. Hosts Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli will be on hand to offer their last piece of feedback to the stars of this year's series. Viewers will not only be treated to performances from the 10 finalists, but also some surprise guests. During the final, fans can expect another show stopping performance from one of the judges, but unfortunately it's not Simon Cowell. Guest judge KSI, who made his debut this season, will be taking to the stage to perform, and if his previous onstage performances are anything to go by, fans are in for a treat. Follow along for the Mirror's live updates throughout the night as one act's dreams are set to come true... The 10 acts competing for the winners spot tonight are: LED Dance Group The Blackouts, singer Vinnie McKee, singer Stacey Leadbeatter, gymnastics star Binita Chetry, magician Harry Moulding and guitarist Olly Pearson. Also joining them in the final will be opera singer and drag queen Jasmine Rice, dance act Ping Pong Pang, comedian Joseph Charm and Post Office choir Hear Our Voice. Despite the final not kicking off yet, some think they already know who will be declared winner. Bookies William Hill has made Hear Our Voice, the inspirational choir comprising of victims of the Post Office Horizon scandal, favourites to win with odds of 6/4. The group - made up of victims of the sub- postmasters scandal, which saw hundreds of lives ruined by the Horizon IT fiasco - has wowed judges since their first audition and now look like they're well on their way to victory. The 10 finalists are not the only ones taking to the stage later tonight, as judge KSI is set to perform. Announcing the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, the official Britain's Got Talent account tweeted: HE'S BACK!!! Catch @KSI while you can performing at the #BGT Final, coming at you this Saturday 31st May at 7pm on @ITV1,@ITVX and @WeAreSTV." The YouTube sensation began his music career in 2015 with the release of his debut single, Lamborghini, featuring P Money. The YouTuber and boxer joined the Britain's Got Talent panel as a guest judge in February this year as he stepped in for fellow judge Bruno Tonioli who had to miss a few auditions due to schedule conflicts. The Britain's Got Talent final will kick off at 7pm this evening. Viewers are in for a treat, as the show will run all the way until 9:45pm.

Zoe Ball's stark warning to Scott Mills when he took over BBC Radio 1 job

Breakfast show host Scott, who took over in January, says Zoe had a few words of wisdom for him before he started Scott Mills has revealed that Zoe Ball gave him a stark warning before he replaced her on BBC Radio 2, telling him: 'It's a lot - you've always got to be on.' Scott, 52, was unveiled as the new Breakfast Show host last year after the shock news Zoe was stepping down after six years at the Radio 2 helm. And in spite of more than two decades of experience on the airwaves, he admitted he still struggles with the pressure to deliver the best show possible. Scott told the Mirror: 'The show is a lot, it's hard work. It's a treadmill every day. ‌ ‌ 'I remember when Zoe finished, she said to me: 'Look, doing breakfast on Radio 2 is quite a lot. It's quite demanding, and you've just always got to be on.' She was right. The amount of guests we have - it's continuous. When she said it to me, I was like: 'I'm ready'. And I am, it's my happy place. 'But of course there's pressure. I think that if you're not feeling any pressure, then you probably shouldn't be doing that job. But that's good. I want to be at the top of my game, and I have that inbuilt into me, I always put pressure on myself. I'm not getting mad pressure from the bosses at all, far from it. But I want to do the best show I can possibly do. 'There is an old saying - I don't know if it's an acting phrase - but it's basically: 'You're only as good as your last show.' And I know it's quite old school, but I do think that. If I've had a bad show - for reasons a listener maybe wouldn't even notice, like maybe I tripped over my words - I really get annoyed. You can get beaten up about it.' ‌ Scott has opened up in the past about his struggles with mental health, admitting he grappled with intense anxiety and depression as a young man. And speaking this week on new Mercedes-Benz Vans podcast Under the Bonnet, he revealed he still experiences dark periods - but uses exercise to help him cope. Scott, who is hosting the podcast, said: 'Exercise is definitely something I lean into to help my mental health. I've really noticed when I don't do it. Now at school, I was the last to be picked at sport - it's not my thing, but it's not about that. It's about that feeling I get after I've been, it's a bit of a high that you get. And it's (exercise) what I try to do now after the Breakfast Show, because I've been in some low places before with depression and anxiety over the years. ‌ 'Thankfully not in recent years, but I know if a dark time is coming - you can just feel it. So I honestly believe that exercise has helped me know, and I make time for it.' The Under the Bonnet podcast is the UK's first exclusively for van drivers. The series, recorded in a specially adapted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, has been launched to celebrate 30 years of the Sprinter and discuss the Under the Bonnet report, which shows how van drivers have become a barometer for modern Britain. ‌ The report has found that the average van driver has less than five conversations a day, compared to the average person's 27 conversations. And 80% credited improvements in their mental health to team sport. Scott went on: 'I could really relate to that because of my own experiences. Some of the drivers I spoke to were telling me about being on the road for 20 hours at a time, and how lonely they felt. 'And it reminded me of when I was working my way up in radio, as a presenter. My first job was on radio in Southampton when I was 16 and then I got asked by a radio station in Bristol if I wanted to go there. So I moved to Bristol not knowing one person. And apart from when I was recording my show, I spent all of my time completely on my own. And then I moved from Bristol to Manchester and I mean, I'd never been north of Birmingham - I was a proper Southerner. ‌ 'So once again, you uproot your life, you rent a flat and you don't know anyone. And this is, like, early 1990s, so mobiles weren't really a thing. You weren't really in touch with people, you know, day-to-day. I can remember my Mum coming to visit me, and crying because I was so lonely. She asked if I was going to put a Christmas tree up, and I told her I would, but that no-one would see it. It was a very isolating time. "I made those moves to better my career, but at the back of my head I was always thinking: 'At what cost?' Obviously, it's all worked out great, but you don't know that as you're doing it. Now people will say to me: 'Oh, you're on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show,' but they don't realise that I've spent years trying to get up that ladder. ‌ "To be honest, it still blows my mind that this has happened to me. It's been a wild four months since I took over the show, and we're only just getting started.' Off the airwaves, Scott is also celebrating his first wedding anniversary this month, after he married husband Sam Vaughan last year. And revealing plans to whisk Sam away to celebrate at their Spanish wedding venue, he told how their partnership works because they help each other. ‌ He went on: 'Our first year has been great. And I'll tell you why it's been great, because it's just so easy. Me and him are just a great team - we just help each other out all the time, which is the way it should be. It's been a busy time lately, with Eurovision, etc. 'But I love it, and I love coming home after bonkers days, and everything just being calm and normal - that peace of mind that someone is always there for you. I adore it. ‌ 'We were chatting about this last night, and I was like: 'That's been a pretty good first year of marriage.' And I mean, it's whipped by - it's gone by in a flash. 'This weekend I am taking him back to the place where we got married - in Spain. So he doesn't know this yet, but tomorrow, we are going there. 'Right now, I'm the happiest I've ever, ever, ever, ever been. I really feel like all the stars have aligned for me, and I couldn't be happier. I'm literally having a ball.' Scott Mills is hosting the Mercedes-Benz Vans podcast Under the Bonnet, the UK's first podcast exclusively for van drivers. The podcast has been launched to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sprinter van and to discuss the findings of the Under the Bonnet report.
