Dy CM Shinde intervenes to help tourists from Maharashtra stranded in Uttarakhand
He has requested the Uttarakhand government to provide assistance to the Marathi tourists stranded there due to landslides and road closures.
"The Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has been experiencing heavy rains for the past few days. Due to the torrential rains there, rivers have flooded heavily and roads have been closed due to landslides. In this regard, around 150 Marathi tourists have been stranded in Jankichatti village of Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand since June 28. As the landslides on their way back washed away the roads, it is likely to take another eight days for the situation to return to normal. Therefore, the Marathi tourists had requested the Maharashtra government to help them. Taking note of this demand, I spoke to Akash Jadhav, a tourist stranded in Uttarakhand, over the phone and asked him about his concerns and assured him that all possible help," the Deputy Chief Minister said during his media interaction at the sidelines of the ongoing monsoon session of State Legislature at Vidhan Bhavan.
Deputy CM Shinde said that he also spoke to Parag Dhakate, who works in the Chief Minister's Office of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, over the phone and requested him to immediately provide food grains and necessary assistance to the stranded tourists.
"The Uttarakhand government also responded positively and told that the road will be restored as soon as possible and assistance will be provided to the stranded tourists. The Uttarakhand government is currently trying to control the situation assuring that arrangements will be made to reach the stranded tourists in Maharashtra as soon as possible to send them back," he added.

Police start process of filing FIR after MNS workers' ruckus in PMC chief's office
Pune: Police were in the final leg of registering an FIR late Wednesday night, after a group of MNS workers created a ruckus in the office of Pune municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and engaged in a heated exchange of words with him earlier in the day over some electrical appliances and other articles allegedly missing from his official bungalow in Model Colony before he moved in. The alleged missing electrical appliances and other articles worth an estimated Rs20 lakh came to light after Ram moved into the bungalow two months ago, following the retirement of then civic chief. Ram said the matter was being investigated by the PMC's establishment department. MNS functionary Kishor Shinde led the group of party workers to the PMC commissioner's office. He also had a heated argument with Ram. "We went to meet the PMC commissioner and hand him over a memorandum regarding the issue. He spoke to us arrogantly and tried to shoo us away by saying that we were goons. He also made remarks about the Marathi language and our party. He told reporters, "I entertained all the visitors throughout the day. The MNS workers entered the meeting room without any prior notice when a meeting was on. As Shinde and his team continued with their agitation outside the PMC commissioner's cabin, the PMC security department and the police shut the entry-exit points of the civic body's head office as a precautionary measure. A group of MNS workers staged a protest outside the premises.

Reexamine cert of Marathi film: State to I&B ministry
Mumbai: State govt has written to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry requesting it to reexamine the certificate issued to the Marathi film, 'Khalid Ka Shivaji', in view of the protests, prevailing public sentiment and apprehension to disturbance of public order. The letter stated that the film release be kept in abeyance until a decision is taken after reexamination. The movie is slated to be released on Aug 8. The govt letter stated it has received a complaint from Nilesh Bhise saying certain dialogues related to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are factually incorrect and likely to hurt public sentiments.
