VA-TA-RA: LiveScore Bet now pays out on disallowed goals

Telegraph30-07-2025
The 2025-26 Premier League season is nearly upon us and, ahead of the new campaign, LiveScore Bet has unveiled a new, groundbreaking promotion it is offering for existing customers.
With the bookmaker's new 'VAR Payout' promotion, punters will be paid out on all Premier League goalscorer bets, regardless of whether the goal stands or is ruled out by VAR.
LiveScore Bet promotion gives added security to goalscorer bets
To say VAR (video assistant referee) has been controversial since its introduction to the Premier League in 2019-20 is an understatement.
Last season alone, 108 decisions were overturned by VAR reviews in the Premier League, with 47 of those leading to disallowed goals.
Numbers refer to decisions, not points
Source: ESPN.
With this new feature from LiveScore Bet, though, whenever you place a single, multi or bet builder pre-match bet on a player to score in any Premier League match, you will be paid out even if your player scores and the goal is disallowed by VAR for whatever reason.
This promotion will apply to selected goalscorer player markets only, such as first goalscorer, anytime goalscorer or betting on a player to score multiple goals.
If you are betting on a player to score or assist, note that only the goalscorer part of the bet is covered by the VAR Payout promotion.

Viktor Gyokeres sends Man Utd message as Arsenal thump Bilbao

ARSENAL 3-0 ATHLETIC BILBAO: The Gunners enjoyed the perfect end to their pre-season preparations as they beat the Spanish side in the Emirates Cup on Saturday afternoon Arsenal rounded off their pre-season preparations as they eased past Spanish side Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates on Sunday. The Gunners welcomed the La Liga side to North London for the latest instalment of the Emirates Cup. ‌ Viktor Gyokeres gave Arsenal the perfect start as he scored his first Gunners goal with an excellent header from Martin Zubimendi 's cross. Bukayo Saka then swiftly doubled the lead as he rounded off an eye-catching team move. ‌ Kai Havertz came off the bench to round off the scoring with a brilliant solo effort. Attention will now turn to next weekend's Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford. ‌ Here are all of the talking points from the Emirates Stadium: Arteta drops Man Utd hint Taking a look at the Arsenal side before kick-off at the Emirates, it's hard to imagine that their teamsheet will look very different as they travel to Old Trafford in a week's time. But there were two positions where it appears that Arteta has not yet made his mind up. Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori started the game but was replaced by Ben White at half-time. ‌ Meanwhile, summer signing Noni Madueke came on for Gabriel Martinelli at the break. Elsewhere, Declan Rice was joined by Martin Zubimendi in midfield. Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Viktor Gyokeres assembled an eye-catching front three. It appears unlikely that any more signings come in within the next week but this side would certainly be good enough to take on the Red Devils. ‌ Who was the man-of-the-match between Arsenal and Athletic Bilbao? Gyokeres opens account Given all of the pressure on his shoulders this season, Viktor Gyokeres needed a goal early on in his Arsenal career. And it came in typically predatory circumstances against Bilbao. Spanish midfielder Zubimendi whipped in an excellent cross, with the Swede leaping highest to nod home. ‌ Gyokeres has previously only scored 12 headed goals throughout his career but a few more like that during his Arsenal career, and he will certainly prove that he is worth the money that the Gunners paid for him. Saka scintilating While Gyokeres' first goal for Arsenal is likely to steal all of the headlines, his new teammate Bukayo Saka shone just as much. The England winger was an electric presence down the right flank for the Gunners as he gave Iñigo Lekue a torrid time of things. Saka certainly showed his versatility against the Spanish side, regularly charging down the by-line, while he was also not afraid to cut in either. ‌ Saka eventually got his reward by doubling Arsenal's lead just minutes after the opening goal. A brilliant team move ended with the winger rounding Unai Simón and tapping into the empty net. Early yellow card Away from the goals, there was also a bizarre incident just a minute into the game involving Gyokeres. As the striker attempted to make an impression early on, he was unceremoniously taken down by Yuri Berchiche. ‌ Premier League referee Robert Jones appeared not to get the memo that the game was a friendly as he instantly brandished a yellow card. Let's hope there's somewhat of a higher bar in league action once it returns or there will be countless cautions each game. Havertz sends timely reminder One man who might be feeling the pressure this summer is Kai Havertz. The German has lost his role as Arsenal's out and out striker - and it's tough to envisage where he actually fits. He could however be as a very effective substitute. Havertz showed excellent awareness to ghost onto an excellent through ball and hold off the challenge from a defender. ‌ He then scored with a cool finish to once again underline his effectiveness as a forward. Of course, Havertz may see his minutes slightly more limited this term but there's no doubting that he's an excellent option to have around. Williams silenced Arsenal actually came up against a face that could have become an Arsenal star at the Emirates on Saturday. And that man was Spanish winger Nico Williams. ‌ The wideman was at the heart of huge interest earlier this window, with the Gunners and Barcelona chasing him following a standout season. But he elected to sign a new long-term deal with the Spanish side. And while he no doubt has potential, some Arsenal fans might be thinking it was a blessing in disguise. The youngster really struggled to get involved throughout the afternoon, potentially validating Arsenal's decision not to make a move.

Lewis Smith stars as Livingston see off fellow top-flight new boys Falkirk

Lewis Smith's stunning strike helped Livingston defeat Falkirk 3-1 in the battle of the William Hill Premiership's two newly-promoted teams. The Lions were two ahead at the break through goals from Scott Pittman and Smith before Robbie Muirhead's penalty was saved by Bairns goalkeeper Scott Bain early in the second half. The visitors hit back through Ross MacIver, but Livi, who took 10 points from the four meetings between the sides last term, sealed another positive result against John McGlynn's men when Jeremy Bokila struck late on. Lions boss David Martindale made two changes to the team that started the 2-2 draw at Kilmarnock as Sammy Lawal and Smith replaced Daniel Finlayson and Mo Sylla. There were also two changes to the Bairns side that drew 2-2 with Dundee United as MacIver and Aidan Nesbitt came in for Scott Arfield and Brian Graham. The visitors started strongly, with Dylan Tait going close with two glancing headers either side of a close-range header from MacIver that was superbly saved by Jerome Prior. Livi's bid to gain a foothold was not helped when defender Danny Wilson was forced off injured in the 14th minute, with Shane Blaney on in his place. But the Lions went ahead against the run of play four minutes later when Muirhead's low delivery from the right was forced home from close range by Pittman. There were two further injury-enforced substitutions before the break, with Falkirk's Ethan Ross limping off to be replaced by Alfredo Agyeman and Livi's Graham Carey making way for Sylla. The Lions doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time when Smith arrowed a magnificent left-footed finish from the edge of the box high past Bain. The hosts came out hungry to add to their lead after the break and Muirhead crashed a shot from 20 yards out off the crossbar. They had the chance to kill the game when they were awarded a penalty in the 55th minute after Liam Henderson was deemed to have handled Andy Winter's cross following a VAR intervention, but Bain got down to his left to block Muirhead's spot-kick. Falkirk took advantage of the let-off to get themselves back in the game as MacIver glanced home Calvin Miller's inswinging free-kick from the right in the 74th minute. But Bokila eased the tension in the home ranks in the 88th minute when he ran on to a long ball from fellow substitute Cristian Montano and blasted an angled finish beyond Bain from inside the box.
