Soulsborne Sequel Gets Very Metal Trailer Full Of E3 2008 Energy

Yahoo06-06-2025
Today, during Summer Game Fest, Mortal Shell 2 was announced with a trailer that made me miss the days of E3 circa 2008 or 2010. The dark and twisted souls-like is coming to PC and consoles in 2026.
Here's the first trailer for the upcoming action RPG, which kicked off the whole Summer Game Fest event, from publisher Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry:
And here's how the publisher describes the standalone third-person RPG sequel to the first Mortal Shell, which launched to positive reviews in 2020.
'Mortal Shell II is a standalone sequel to Mortal Shell that significantly expands on the original with unrestricted, adrenaline-charged combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and an emphasis on free exploration.
This action RPG offers an immersive, interconnected open world, expansive yet deliberately compact, designed to unfold its twisted landscapes and hidden structures while respecting the player's time.
This metal-infused Mortal Shell II trailer really reminded many of us at Kotaku of the kind of over-the-top but fun trailers we'd seen back in the mid-00s. The screaming metal, the angry executions, and the mention of what the song is at the start. Very 2010 or so energy. And I'm here for it.
The devs have removed any kind of stamina system from Mortal Shell II, according to a press release shared by Gematsu. 'Mortal Shell II's combat system is agile yet grounded,' say the devs. 'Unrestricted by stamina, players exploit multiple tactics to shatter enemy posture and strike critically.'
Mortal Shell II is set to launch on consoles and PC in 2026. No specific console was shared, but I expect it will arrive on PS5 and Xbox sometime next year.

Is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater cross-platform?

The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is one of the best PS2 games of all time. Being the earliest game in the Metal Gear timeline, it is also the perfect game to get a remake for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with a revived Fox Hunt multiplayer mode. The main draw of the game is still the epic stealth-action single player campaign, but the unique hide-and-seek-based gameplay of Fox Hunt garnered a cult following back in the day and has a great chance of being an even bigger hit with this remake. But aside from learning when we can start playing that multiplayer mode, the big question is whether or not Metal Gear Solid Delta will have cross-platform support. We know there are differences between the versions, so let's see what we know about crossplay so far. Is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater cross-platform? In a worrying move, Konami has yet to make any statements about whether or not Metal Gear Solid Delta will have cross-platform support as of the time of this writing. All we know is that it is indeed coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC and that there will be a new online mode. While the situation is far different now, the last Metal Gear game released, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, also did not have crossplay support back in 2015. While not unheard of, it was still odd even back then to not include it. Recommended Videos Being a remake and developed by a different team a decade later, I hope that cross-platform play is included but can't say with certainty it will be. I suspect we will learn the truth once we know for sure when the online mode will launch. When will Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's online mode launch? Just as important as knowing whether the game will be cross-platform is knowing when the online mode will launch. The base game will be out on August 28, but according to the official Konami website, Fox Hunt is currently scheduled for 'fall 2025.' That timeframe could theoretically be any time between September and November so I will keep my ears open and update you as soon as we get a firm launch date.

Blippo+ arrives on Nintendo Switch and PC in color September 23

Blippo+ , the zany cable TV simulator that debuted with Playdate's Season Two , now has its release date for Nintendo Switch and PC. It lands on September 23 and will be in color , unlike on Playdate. Blippo+ is expected to come to Mac this fall too. Blippo+ is kind of the perfect antidote to streaming fatigue if weird is your cup of tea. It has its own version of the endlessly scrolling TV Guide, The Electronic Program Guide (EPG), and a roster of peculiar programs to flip through. In the off-Playdate version, you'll unlock new content as you make your way through the shows, with new "packets" of programming delivered once you've reached a certain point. There is quite a bit of material, too; on Playdate, Blippo+ dropped a new batch of episodes every week for almost three months. Blippo+ was created by Yacht, Telefantasy Studios, Noble Robot and Dustin Mierau, and published by Panic.

Battlefield 6 open beta is already Steam's most popular Battlefield game with a peak of 330,000+ concurrent players, doubling the record of the 2042 beta and tripling 2042 itself in just hours

If the thousands of people sitting in the menu of Battlefield 6's open beta before it even became playable didn't give it away, the upcoming FPS is looking rather popular. So popular, in fact, that now that the beta's doors have finally opened, it already has the highest concurrent player peak out of any other game in the series on Steam. As spotted by PC Gamer, at the time of writing, Battlefield 6's open beta has a concurrent player peak of 334,549 according to SteamDB. I say "open," but currently, the beta is actually in early access, and although you can watch Battlefield 6 streamers on Twitch to get access to the Battlefield 6 beta yourself (assuming you hadn't met the previous requirements), I still imagine that slight complication could mean the number might surge further when things become open to everyone on August 9. To put it into perspective, the Battlefield 6 beta has already more than doubled the Steam peak for Battlefield 2042's beta – which saw 156,665 concurrent players at the time – and more than tripled the concurrent player peak of 2042's full release, which capped at 107,376. Its current peak also places it at number 38 on SteamDB's overall "most played games" chart, surpassing the likes of Elden Ring: Nightreign, Starfield, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and more. The Battlefield 6 open beta is head and shoulders above every other Battlefield game on Steam, too, although as PC Gamer points out, 2042 is the only modern Battlefield game to release on Steam on its actual launch date. Others, like Battlefield 5 and 4, returned to the storefront in 2020, years after their respective releases. As such, it's slightly unfair to compare them as closely, but that's not to downplay the beta reception we're looking at right now. Who knows how much those numbers are going to grow in the coming days? Battlefield 6 multiplayer is faster than ever, and while I'm having fun being a speedy soldier, it's playing against the shooter's most iconic feature.
