Browns Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders Cited for Driving 101 MPH in Ohio
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was cited by police for driving over 100 miles per hour on the highway early Tuesday morning, according to police records.
An officer for the Strongsville (Ohio) Police Department stopped the 23-year-old Sanders just after midnight for driving 41 mph over the posted 60 mph speed limit in his black 2025 Dodge TRX truck, per a report from ESPN.
Sanders can either pay a $250 fine for the fourth-degree misdemeanor or plead his case in front of a judge on July 3. Sanders' girlfriend, who was clocked going 92 miles per hour, was pulled over in a separate car at the same time and given a warning.
Sanders, a projected first-round draft pick who was selected by Cleveland after a dramatic fall to the fifth round, participated in the Browns' mandatory minicamp last week. Cleveland's unofficial fourth-string quarterback, Sanders was arguably the most recognizable player in the country entering the draft. In 50 collegiate games, he completed 70.1% of his passes for 14,347 yards, with 134 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. He ran for 17 more scores.

Sanders was not cited for driving under the influence, and the rest of the stop played out as usual. Due to the extreme level that Sanders was found to be over the speed limit, he faces a $250 fine, or he can choose to fight it in court. There is almost no doubt that Sanders, who admitted to his mistake in the video, will quickly pay the fine and put this incident behind him so he can refocus on football. Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is accused of driving a pickup truck 101 mph (163 kilometers per hour) on a suburban Cleveland interstate earlier this week. The Strongsville Police Department stopped Sanders at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in a 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) zone on Interstate 71 near the Ohio Turnpike, according to a report provided to local media.
