Browns Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders Cited for Driving 101 MPH in Ohio
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was cited by police for driving over 100 miles per hour on the highway early Tuesday morning, according to police records.
An officer for the Strongsville (Ohio) Police Department stopped the 23-year-old Sanders just after midnight for driving 41 mph over the posted 60 mph speed limit in his black 2025 Dodge TRX truck, per a report from ESPN.
Sanders can either pay a $250 fine for the fourth-degree misdemeanor or plead his case in front of a judge on July 3. Sanders' girlfriend, who was clocked going 92 miles per hour, was pulled over in a separate car at the same time and given a warning.
Sanders, a projected first-round draft pick who was selected by Cleveland after a dramatic fall to the fifth round, participated in the Browns' mandatory minicamp last week. Cleveland's unofficial fourth-string quarterback, Sanders was arguably the most recognizable player in the country entering the draft. In 50 collegiate games, he completed 70.1% of his passes for 14,347 yards, with 134 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. He ran for 17 more scores.

Browns rookie quarterback Sanders cited for driving 101 mph
Police cited Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders for driving 41 miles over the posted speed limit in the early hours Tuesday after the 23-year-old was clocked at 101 mph by the Strongsville Police Department in Ohio. Police records indicated that Sanders was stopped at 12:24 a.m. local time for exceeding the 60 mph limit in his black Dodge TRX truck in Strongsville, located about 20 miles southwest of Cleveland. As a result, he must either pay a $250 fine for the fourth-degree misdemeanor or dispute the ticket in court on July 3. A projected first-round pick in April's NFL draft after throwing for 4,134 yards (fourth in FBS) and 37 touchdowns (second) at Colorado, Sanders was selected by Cleveland in the fifth round after the Browns also drafted Oregon's Dillon Gabriel in the third. Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding in Cleveland after Browns' minicamp
Shedeur Sanders cited for speeding in Cleveland after Browns' minicamp Shedeur Sanders has had expectations of excellence placed on him since he was young, but he may have more eyes on him now than he ever did before. However, after his historic draft slide, Sanders has done nothing but impress fans, coaches, and teammates up to this point. That's why it's unfortunate to see that Sanders' first mistake as Brown happened earlier this week. The rookie quarterback was pulled over and given a citation for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Cleveland early Tuesday morning. Fox 8 Cleveland broke the news and released a video of the incident, where Sanders remained calm and fully cooperated with the officers. During a back-and-forth, the two officers involved discussed Sanders' speed and his connection to his father, Deion Sanders. "Has he been cool with you?" one officer asks the other about Sanders' cooperation, to which the primary officer involved responds, "Yeah, he's been real cool." Sanders was not cited for driving under the influence, and the rest of the stop played out as usual. Due to the extreme level that Sanders was found to be over the speed limit, he faces a $250 fine, or he can choose to fight it in court. There is almost no doubt that Sanders, who admitted to his mistake in the video, will quickly pay the fine and put this incident behind him so he can refocus on football. Sanders is competing in a loaded Browns quarterback room filled with veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillion Gabriel. Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders ticketed after police say he drove 101 mph in Cleveland suburb
Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is accused of driving a pickup truck 101 mph (163 kilometers per hour) on a suburban Cleveland interstate earlier this week. The Strongsville Police Department stopped Sanders at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in a 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) zone on Interstate 71 near the Ohio Turnpike, according to a report provided to local media. Sanders, 23, could pay a $250 fine to waive the fourth-degree misdemeanor case, according to police. CNN has reached out to the Browns for comment. Sanders, the son of Hall of Fame player Deion Sanders, was drafted in the fifth round (144th overall) of the NFL draft this spring, even though many projections had him going in the first round. He played under his father at the University of Colorado. Sanders is competing against three other quarterbacks with the Browns. They wrapped up minicamp last week and will open training camp in late July.
