Why Does Lindsay Lohan Live in Dubai? The ‘Freakier Friday' Star Is All About Privacy and Safety

Yahoo31-07-2025
Everywhere you look, Lindsay Lohan is there. The former child star is back in the spotlight promoting her new film, Freakier Friday, appearing on talk shows and red carpets, which might make you wonder, where the heck has she been? Well, literally speaking, she's been in Dubai. Why? I'm glad you asked, because Lindsay just revealed why she lives in Dubai, and, honestly, it makes a lot of sense.
'It's just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life,' Lindsay said during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark. She continued, telling hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that she enjoys freedoms in Dubai she simply can't in the States. 'There's no worry of, like, I can't go to eat at this place 'cause someone's gonna take a picture of my son,' she explained. 'I feel very safe.'
When Kelly asked about the paparazzi presence there, Lindsay surprised her. 'No, it's not legal,' she said. 'You can't even take a picture of someone else if you're at a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference from here.'
The actor, who shares a two-year-old son with her husband, Bader Shammas, continued, saying, 'Privacy is key.'
Lindsay has been living in Dubai since 2014, after her career in Hollywood stalled amid a string of arrests and reported struggles with substance abuse. In her last few years living in the U.S., Lindsay was constantly hounded by paparazzi, something she still fears.
'It's hard in L.A. Even taking my son to the park in L.A., I get stressed. I'm like, 'Are there cameras?'' she told ELLE in a recent interview.
In Dubai, however, she doesn't have to think about being caught on candid camera. 'I get the privacy, I get the peace, I get the space,' she added. 'I don't have to worry there; I feel safe.'

'Freakier Friday' hits theaters: Watch a special clip

"Freakier Friday" is in theaters now! The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 2003 film arrived Friday, with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman, respectively. Chad Michael Murray returns in the sequel as Jake, Anna's boyfriend from the first film, Ryan Malgarinireturns as Anna's brother Harry, and Mark Harmon returns as Tess' husband Ryan. The film also features new stars Julia Butters as Anna's daughter Harper; Sophia Hammons as Lily, Anna's soon-to-be daughter-in-law; and Manny Jacinto as Eric, Anna's fiance. "Good Morning America" got an exclusive look at a clip from the sequel on Friday, as the film hit theaters. The scene features Anna, Tess, Harper and Lily bickering, after they've been body-swapped with one another. In the clip, Harper -- who appears to be body-swapped with Anna -- is scolding the girls after they tell her to "chill," saying that she's "the adult here." "I am in charge," she says. "It doesn't look like it," Anna -- a body-swapped Harper -- responds. "You just earned yourself a consequence," Harper replies. Tess -- who appears to have been body-swapped with Lily -- and Anna then scoff at Harper before walking away up the stairs. Lily interjects, "Girls, this is serious! We all need to start getting along unless we want to be stuck like this forever!" Tess replies, "You know, you lot are getting the better end of this deal. It's us who are going to be dead in, like, five years." "She's 37," Anna adds, prompting Harper to respond, "I'm 36 and a half!" Last week on "GMA," Curtis opened up about her determination to make "Freakier Friday" happen. "Everywhere in the world I go for other work, all they want to talk about is Lindsay and 'Freaky Friday,'" Curtis said at the time. "That's all they wanted to talk about. And they kept saying, You have to do a sequel, a sequel sequel....' And I was like, 'Yeah, great. Love it. But the truth is, Lindsay has to be old enough to have a teenager.'" In the new film, Curtis said Lohan's character Anna is now a "music producer" and "is engaged to be married to a young man named Eric. "He happens to have a 15-year-old daughter. And Lindsay's character, Anna, has a 15-year-old daughter named Harper," she said, adding, "The soon-to-be sisters don't get along very well."

And now that she can speedily browse Saks on Amazon, she admits, it could become an even bigger problem. 'Probably more for my accountant than anyone else.' The award-winning actress and founder of the hair care brand Flawless spoke candidly before an al fresco dinner at Swifty's at the Hedges Inn in East Hampton. For the first time since the announcement of the momentous partnership, Saks on Amazon gathered fashion insiders and socialites together to celebrate. In addition to the bites and cocktails, the evening was filled with stunning outfits, especially from Naomi Watts, Union, and her husband, Dwyane Wade. The couple is clearly enjoying the convenience of Saks's curated edit now available via Amazon. 'I didn't enjoy shopping until now,' Wade confessed. 'When it's too much in the store, you lose me. But when it's curated for me? It's easy to enjoy the process.' Union agrees: 'You get all the perks of Prime's fast shipping with Saks's variety and luxury. It's pretty awesome.' The two also opened up about their coordinating style. 'We get dressed on opposite sides of the room and somehow come out matching, but it's never planned,' Union says. Wade added, 'When you're by yourself, you can wear whatever you want. But when you're together, she needs to shine. And I'm just there to complement her.' As for what's on their wish lists for the upcoming season? 'These dang [Stella McCartney] Ryder bags have me in a chokehold,' Union laughed, rattling off suede, snakeskin, and black variations that are already in her cart. She also shouted out designer Johanna Ortiz for her silk maxi dresses. 'They make you feel sexy, but also let you eat. They're forgiving, but still fly—like you walk in the room, and it's 'hello.'' Wade, meanwhile, is leaning into what he calls 'quiet comfort' for fall. 'I'm looking for versatile pieces that transition well. Fear of God is one of those brands that gets it.' And when it comes to gift-giving, the couple has their roles down. 'I'm great if you're ballin' on a budget,' Union joked. Wade, on the other hand, claims range. 'I play in both fields: high fashion and accessible elegance. And I listen. That's the key to good gifts.' Whether you're shopping for date night or planning your own fall wardrobe, Union and Wade have you covered. And, yes, we took notes. Shop their favorite Saks on Amazon picks below.

‘Modern Family' star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons ‘surprised' by the reaction over coming out as bisexual

'Modern Family' star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons said she didn't expect the reaction she got when she came out as bisexual in June. 'I didn't even mean to come out, I just thought the video was really fun. I just thought it was kind of funny. And I was like, 'People will find this funny,'' said Anderson-Emmons, 18, who is known for playing Lily Tucker-Pritchett in the Emmy-winning hit sitcom, said in an interview with 'Them' published on Friday. The former child star added, 'And indeed they did, but I didn't even think of it as, 'Oh, I'm coming out to the world as bisexual, this [is a brave thing] that I'm doing,' because it shouldn't have to be something.' Anderson-Emmons told the outlet that she didn't even think of the social media post as 'coming out,' because 'everybody in my personal life already knows…. I'm very much an open book about who I am. So it was just one of those things that I forgot to mention to the public. It was not intentional at all.' 10 Aubrey Anderson-Emmons in he 'coming out' post. aubreyandersonemmons/Instagram She said she was shocked that it made headlines and got a big reaction. 'It always surprises me when something goes a little bit viral that I do online, because I'll just get one of my friend's screenshots. A couple of my friends screenshotted the 'bisexual coming out' stories that were happening on Twitter and I was like, 'What?' Obviously, I'm still a kid — being legally 18 doesn't mean too much — but [I'm] starting to navigate adulthood and all that jazz.' The actress and singer also joked about her social media presence. 'I feel like some people are like, 'Stop posting about 'Modern Family.' Some people are like, 'Only post about Modern Family.' I feel like I do a mix of both,' she said.
