KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — The death of an elderly woman whose body was discovered at her home on Jalan Pandan Indah, Ampang, last Friday has been confirmed to involve no criminal elements, said Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail.
He said the conclusion was based on a post-mortem conducted on the woman's body, and the case has been classified as a sudden death report.
'The post-mortem was carried out at Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday evening, and the results confirmed that no criminal elements were involved,' he said in a statement issued early this morning.
He added that police received a report from a member of the public regarding a foul smell coming from a two-storey terrace house in Pandan Indah at about 6.30 pm last Friday.
Media reports earlier said that a resident had noticed a strong odour coming from the elderly woman's house since last Monday.
It is understood that the woman had recently returned home after spending Aidiladha holiday in her hometown. — Bernama

Car wash worker seriously injured after vehicle plunges from third floor

KUALA LUMPUR: A car wash worker was seriously injured after the vehicle he was driving crashed through a wall and plunged from the third floor of a service apartment car park on Jalan Klang Lama this evening. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident, which occurred at 5.38pm, involved a Toyota Camry driven by a 23-year-old foreigner. Initial investigations revealed the worker lost control of the vehicle while attempting to park it after washing. He is believed to have accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the car to smash through the wall and fall to the ground," he said when contacted by Bernama. The car landed on two other vehicles — a Proton Iriz and a Perodua Myvi — parked at the ground level of the building. Fortunately, no one was inside those vehicles at the time. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to the red zone of Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for emergency treatment. Teen murder suspect preoccupied with thoughts of younger sibling, says Nancy

Women, family and community development minister Nancy Shukri said the incident should serve as a lesson that mental health support and treatment must be strengthened. PETALING JAYA : The teenager suspected of murdering his mother and older brother has demonstrated good behaviour while in police custody, women, family and community development minister Nancy Shukri said. Nancy said the 17-year old 'remains preoccupied with thoughts of his younger brother', the Borneo Post reported. The suspect's 13-year old sibling was found alive but injured on the same day the boy was arrested. 'This reflects the heavy mental burden he is carrying,' she was quoted as saying. On June 12, police said they arrested the suspect at his home in Bukit Rambai, Melaka. The suspect's 51-year-old mother, who was a school teacher, and 21-year-old brother were found in the living room with multiple stab wounds. An early investigation suggested that the suspect was likely emotionally distressed due to pressure to excel academically. Nancy said the incident should serve as a lesson that mental health support and treatment must be strengthened. She said there was a need for a comprehensive and sustained approach to addressing mental health issues, particularly among teenagers, through multi-agency cooperation and community-based strategies. She also highlighted the importance of expanding intervention programmes such as the One-Stop Social Support Centre and mobile services using community counter buses to reach those in need of psychosocial support. 'We bring the mobile counter buses into communities to identify those who may not even realise they are facing mental health issues,' she said. 'Some only become aware that they need help after going through interactive sessions like drawing activities or brief counselling.'
