The second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest is about to commence, with Greece among the contenders vying for a spot in Saturday's grand finale.
Before the 2025 competition, Greece had graced the Eurovision stage 44 times since its first appearance in 1974.

Greece has claimed victory once in the contest's history, with Helena Paparizou's performance of 'My Number One' in 2005.

This year, Klavdia, who reached the final of The Voice of Greece under the mentorship of Eurovision champion Paparizou, will represent the nation.
Klavdia shares 'personal connection' to song
Klavdia has already made waves in the music industry with platinum-selling hits like 'Haramata' and 'Vasanizomai', earning her the Best Newcomer title at the Super Music Awards in Cyprus in 2023. At just 22, she has shared the stage with some big names in the industry.

Her Eurovision entry, 'Asteromata', which translates to 'Starry-eyed', features poignant lyrics such as: "My sweet mother, do not weep. Though they dress you in mourning black, This faded, weary body of mine. No flame can ever crack, The swallows born of fire's embrace."
The song is characterised as "an ethnic ballad that addresses separation in every possible form."
The song's description further reads: "From what we love, from our childhood, from a place we left behind... It's open to interpretation but, in its essence, it shares a message of hope and resilience."

While she didn't pen the lyrics herself, she found it easy to connect with the song on a personal level, affectionately referring to it as "her little baby".
Speaking to Eurovision, she revealed: "The lyrics were ready since last year. They were in some drawer just sitting and waiting to be used.

"I did the melody in some parts. In the verses, to be exact. And I totally feel like this song is my little baby."
She described the process as organic, saying: "I literally went with the flow. I read the lyrics and the melody came by, it was very natural.
In fact, all about this song was natural and we were all on the same page."

She also shared that she has received numerous messages from fans who were moved by the song. The lyrics continue: "My sweet mother, do not weep. My life's a vessel, drifting free. Forever searching for its home. The wind, its sail at sea."
This isn't her first attempt to represent Greece at Eurovision; she tried in 2023 but wasn't successful. "Back then the process was different. We didn't have a national selection contest," she explained.
The second Eurovision semi-final will be broadcast on BBC One on May 15 at 8pm. Viewers outside the UK can watch it on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.

He soon signed his first record deal but in the months that followed, a number of delays appeared to stall the release of further tracks. Now, the son of Peter Andre and Katie Price has revealed there have been "challenges" for the first time but that his music is still very much underway and in the pipeline. Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Junior said: "I haven't been putting pressure on myself and I've been overcoming a couple of challenges. "It's nothing that I can't beat but it will be good in due time. "Don't sleep on me - trust me, it's coming hot!" Junior later re-iterated he was focusing on "music and acting" going forward as well as teasing plans for his own business as well as a fragrance line. Junior is no stranger to music being the son of Peter Andre. Peter is best known for his hit single, Mysterious Girl, and has continued to release music ever since. The show follows his younger sister's life as she prepares to launch her own make-up line. However, the show has been mixed in controversy after Princess' mother Katie claimed she was banned from being featured. Katie was reportedly left hurt after being banned from filming amid concern that it could be detrimental to Princess' image to appear alongside her mother. It led to the mum-of-five declaring that she wouldn't bother to watch the programme.

11 places you probably remember going if you were dating in the 80s

There was no online dating, no Tinder or Grindr, and no smartphones, for a start. But if you were taking someone out on a date during the 1980s, there were a few places you probably ended up. We've put together a list of the most popular spots and activities for a date back then - perfect for anyone who wants to recreate that 80s dating experience. Just don't forget the big hair and shoulder pads, and be sure to leave the phone at home and arrange a meeting place and time. All these venues and activities were cheap, and in some cases free, making them the perfect choice for young romantics back then. Most of them are still options for a date, though some of the 80s venues have sadly closed. If you enjoyed this trip down memory lane, you might want to take a look at these nostalgic photos showing popular restaurant chains of the 70s, 80s and 90s that we have lost. 1 . Pizzaland Nothing screams romance like Italian food. If you wanted to impress your date on a budget, you might have taken them to Pizzaland, which was huge during the 80s. The popular chain ran a 'pizza for a penny' offer, with coupons available in newspapers. | National World Photo Sales 2 . Roller disco Roller skating was all the rage in the 80s, with even Eurovision winners Bucks Fizz getting in on the act. Perhaps you took your date to the roller disco and tried to impress them with your moves - or just avoid ending up on your backside. | Getty Images Photo: Fox Photos/Hulton Archive Photo Sales 3 . A trip to the cinema The cinema has always been a popular spot for romance, with lovers canoodling in the back row under the dimmed lighting. Rom-coms ruled during the 80s, with classics like When Harry Met Sally, Dirty Dancing, Splash, and Overboard all enchanting moviegoers. | Shields Gazette Photo Sales 4 . A meal at your local Berni Inn Berni Inn steakhouses were everywhere during the 80s, and they were a safe bet for a first date. The food was affordable and reliably good, with prawn cocktail starters and black forest gateau for dessert among the most popular items on the menu, along with steak and chips. | Derbyshire Times/Chesterfield Library Photo: Derbyshire Times/Chesterfield Library Photo Sales

Rylan Clark admits he completely transformed his Essex mansion after 'life change'

Rylan Clark has given fans a glimpse inside his luxurious Essex mansion, which he has decorated to be his 'sanctuary' - and it's quite the transformation Beloved televisoin and radio host Rylan Clark has discussed what drove him to completely transform the interior of his stunning Essex mansion. ‌ The ex-X Factor contestant revealed in October 2023 that after settling into the property where he records Celebrity Gogglebox with his mum Linda, he ultimately chose to make the décor feel less stark. ‌ Speaking to House Beautiful, he disclosed that the decision came after experiencing a significant life shift. ‌ Rylan, 36, shared: 'This is the second house I've designed. In my first house, everything was white, everything grey, with just one colour in every room. When I built this house though, I put in polished concrete floors, everything was cool white, that was seen as ultra-modern. 'But then when I went through a bit of a life change, I thought f*** this, and went from cool white to warm white, silver to gold, greens… it's all a lot warmer now.' This isn't the first time Rylan, who also presents on BBC Radio 2, has discussed the inner workings of his residence. The Eurovision host additionally shared snapshots of his home on Instagram earlier this year, offering followers a glimpse into his personal haven. The former Celebrity Big Brother presenter spoke about his diary room modelled on the reality programme, and subtle design elements that allowed him to personalise the space. ‌ He penned: 'We all know how much I'm obsessed by Big Brother and I have nothing better to do with my time so I built a diary room. 'It's quite like the diary room as well – which is exciting. Some people sell stuff on eBay from Big Brother – fair enough things are being thrown away but I think it's naughty. They should put it in a museum or something.' ‌ While Rylan is justifiably pleased with his home, he has captured the hearts of countless admirers this year through his candid conversations about welcoming someone into both his home and his heart, following the end of his marriage to former husband Dan Neal in 2021. This month, he confessed he had hit 'rock bottom' when his six-year marriage ended. On his How To Be In Love podcast, he revealed: 'I can safely say at this point that I have been to rock bottom, whatever you want to call it, and I know I'm never going to let myself go back there. But what that has equally done for me is make me cautious. 'It's made me very, very frightened to open myself up to someone. It's made me frightened to trust someone, and I'm not as confident as my work persona in my personal life.'
