Four people arrested as French police probe fake Disneyland Paris 'marriage' with nine-year-old
French police were on Sunday, June 22, probing the circumstances of what appeared to be a stunt at Disneyland Paris. A group of adults is suspected of hiring the theme park and paying hundreds of extras to stage a fake marriage for a nine-year-old girl. Two people were held for questioning in the case, which initially caused alarm when staff alerted police on Saturday that it could have concerned an illegal child marriage. Investigators now believe that the whole thing was staged, with the girl's mother reportedly saying that she wanted her daughter to feel like a Disney "princess" for the day.
"The event turned out to be a staged event, with the guests themselves extras" invited to be part of the stunt, deputy prosecutor Alexandre Verney said. "So it wasn't a wedding, but a staged wedding filmed with around a hundred extras. They hired Disneyland Paris, pretending it was a real wedding," he told Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Four people were arrested and taken into custody, and the questioning of two of them – suspected of fraud and money laundering – was extended on Saturday evening. They include the so-called "groom" who is believed to be behind the event, 22 years old and "presumed to be British," and a Latvian woman, 24, a source close to the case told AFP. The other two people detained – a 41-year-old Ukrainian woman, and a 55-year-old Latvian man – were released.
The investigations, including a medical examination of the nine-year-old girl, a Ukrainian national, found that "she had not been subjected to any violence or coercive acts," the prosecutor's office said.
According to Le Parisien daily, which first reported the incident, a man had several weeks previously hired the Disneyland Paris complex for a sum of €130,000 euros for several hours before it opened to the public. Staff were astonished when the nine-year-old appeared wearing high heels on Saturday morning, barely able to stand in the elaborate footwear, and they alerted the authorities, it said. The paper said the man who organized the event had submitted false documents concerning his identity and Disneyland filed a complaint.

"I already had the DS2 idea but I had to scratch that off because I experienced the pandemic. So I rewrote," he said. "It's a new connection... I put that in the game system and I want everyone to experience that," Kojima added. French actor Lea Seydoux -- a star of films like James Bond adventure "No Time to Die" or Quentin Tarantino's World War II romp "Inglourious Basterds" -- returns in 3D form alongside Reedus. But new big-name talent is also along for the ride, including American actor Elle Fanning and the likeness of "Mad Max" director George Miller. French singer Woodkid composed the score for the new episode. Kojima Productions, the eponymous studio the developer founded in 2015 after leaving Japanese giant Konami, said in March this year that the first "Death Stranding" had more than 20 million players. And the franchise is broadening out to other media, with a feature film in development with American studio A24 as well as an animated film. Kojima is already turning his bottomless energy to other projects, including a horror game, "OD", co-written with American director Jordan Peele ("Get Out", "Nope") and developed in partnership with Microsoft. Selfridges host Formula 1 at its Corner Shop with multi-sensory homage to the sport
Selfridges has a racing partner ahead of a big movie launch next week. The luxury department store is teaming up with Formula 1 to launch 'F1 75 Years in Motion', turning its Corner Shop location into a multi-sensory homage to the sport. The opening (2pm on 23 June) is two days ahead of Formula 1 The Movie which launches in the UK starring Brad Pitt and includes an appearance by Lewis Hamilton, who played as 'crucial' role in its making, we're told. The Corner Shop activation with be an 'immersive experience' inviting visitors to explore '75 years of high-octane history' through a curated journey, featuring vintage apparel worn by legendary teams and drivers, memorabilia and F1-inspired art and photography tracing the sport's cultural impact. Pieces that will be on sale at the Selfridges Corner Shop include a vintage Benetton x Autopolis jacket, a bold piece from the golden era of early 1990s Formula 1, and a vintage Ferrari x Magnetti Marelli racing jacket -- a rare find due to Ferrari limiting the reissuing of this particular style. As well as rare vintage items, the shop will play host to exclusive F1 75 apparel, as well as art and collectibles from across the sport's history. Iran's judiciary said Israeli strikes left sections of the facility damaged and Israel's defence minister confirmed the army was targeting it.
