UAE real estate developer Binghatti Holding Ltd has launched Binghatti Capital Limited, an asset management firm based in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) that plans to manage approximately $1 billion in Shariah-compliant private credit and real estate strategies.

'The creation of an asset management arm represents a strategic move to deepen Binghatti Holding's investment footprint and enhance access to alternative capital. We believe that Binghatti Capital's offerings are one of a kind, underscoring our long-term vision to expand into high-value, income-generating investments that deliver sustainable growth. Through our new Shariah-compliant private investment strategies, we are not only reinforcing our position in the UAE's real estate sector but are supporting Dubai's efforts to become one of the world's leading foreign investment destinations,' Katralnada Binghatti, Executive Director of Binghatti Capital said.

Binghatti Capital will implement separate mandates within its real estate strategy, covering the acquisition and sale of off-plan residential properties alongside the acquisition, development and sale of residential projects.
The firm's private credit solutions will focus on supply chain financing within the real estate sector, providing financing to construction firms, property management entities and suppliers.
'Binghatti Capital represents a strategic extension of Binghatti Holding's capabilities, designed to accelerate growth and strengthen resilience, ensuring sustained success through all market conditions. Our inaugural suite of what we believe are unique strategies represents a thoughtful, well-structured approach to real estate investing, providing access to opportunities that are typically reserved for large institutions. Beyond private funds, Binghatti Capital will offer tailored discretionary and non-discretionary portfolio mandates to provide professional clients with solutions designed to meet specific investment objectives.
'We are delighted to welcome Binghatti Capital to DIFC, the region's largest financial centre and home to more than 46,000 professionals. Binghatti Capital's presence will further strengthen Dubai's financial ecosystem and reinforce DIFC's position as the leading hub for asset management in the region. With over 400 wealth and asset management firms, DIFC continues to be the preferred destination for asset management companies seeking growth and opportunity in the region,' Salmaan Jaffrey, Chief Business Development Officer at DIFC Authority explained.
DIFC serves as the independent regulator for financial services conducted in or from the centre, which positions itself as the region's primary financial hub.

Dubai expat becomes millionaire overnight, plans to keep working, spend on kids' studies

An Indian expat who has been living in Dubai for two decades has become the latest millionaire at the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw. For him, the winning is not about luxury, but about securing his children's education and possibly fulfilling his teenage son's wish for a car. Pradeep Chalatan, 55, hails from Kannur in the southern Indian state of Kerala. He works as an IT support professional with an architectural consultancy firm in Dubai. On Wednesday, his life changed when his name was announced at Concourse D of Dubai International Airport as the winner of US $1 Million in Series 512 of the Dubai Duty Free promotion. He won with ticket number 2747, which he had purchased online on August 8. Like many longtime participants, Pradeep shared the ticket with a colleague, agreeing beforehand that he would keep 75 per cent of the prize while his teammate would receive 25 per cent. 'When I first received the call, I thought it was a prank. I couldn't believe it. Only after checking the number did I realise it was real,' said Pradeep, who has been taking part in the draw for over 10 years. Over the years, he estimates that he has spent nearly Dh50,000 buying tickets. Sometimes he played alone, while other times he shared with friends and colleagues. 'This time, my colleague joined me, and we were lucky,' he said. Pradeep's wife and two children live in Kerala. His son is 15 and currently in Grade 10, while his daughter is 12. For him, the win means a chance to provide a stronger foundation for his children's future. 'Many of my son's friends' families have bought a new car, as Onam offers are running in our hometown. My son asked if we could buy a car, which I will soon get for us at home,' said Pradeep. 'But for me, the priority is education. I want to make sure my son and daughter get the best opportunities,' he added. Despite the sudden change in fortune, Pradeep is not rushing into decisions. He plans to travel to India this week. 'I had planned to visit my family even before participating in the draw. It will be best for us to discuss with my family how to use the money. 'Now I just want to sit with my wife and children and decide together. This is not just my win, it's for all of us,' he said. While some lottery winners consider quitting their jobs, Pradeep insists that he enjoys his role in Dubai and is not making any drastic moves yet. 'My job is very interesting, and I don't want to change anything for now.' Pradeep becomes the 256th Indian national to win US$ 1 million in the Millennium Millionaire promotion since its launch in 1999. Indians remain the biggest buyers of tickets.

Abu Dhabi's TAQA secures $2.3bln term loan to drive growth

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has secured an 8.5 billion UAE dirhams ($2.3 billion) term loan to boost liquidity and advance its growth. The facility is a two-year AED-denominated floating-rate loan, with a one-year extension option, with the company intended to use the facility over time in a phased manner. Emirates NBD Bank and First Abu Dhabi Bank have been mandated to act jointly as Bookrunners, Leader Arrangers and Coordinators, while Mashreq Bank acted as Lead Arranger for the term loan facility. The ADX-listed integrated utilities company said the use of AED funding offers them a cost advantage over international benchmarks with the Emirates Interbank Offered Rate (EIBOR). TAQA said the two-year tenor aligns well with its maturity profile, as the Group has no corporate debt maturities scheduled in 2027. This facility comes under TAQA's corporate funding framework, which includes a $20 billion Global Medium Term Note (GMTN) programme and a $3.5 billion revolving credit facility. In a note, EFG Hermes analysts said the transaction enhances TAQA's capital structure flexibility 'and would allow the company the funding room to tackle growth projects that include T&D projects in Abu Dhabi and/or capital commitments to fund its equity stake in Masdar.' Last week, TAQA reported a Q2 net profit attributable of AED 1.63 billion, with revenue for the quarter at AED 14.23 billion. The company's H1 CAPEX stood at AED 5.2 billion.
