'We were used, abused and taken for a ride - what mum could do that to their own child?!' rage victims of Shannon Matthews kidnapping hoax in first look at harrowing documentary

A first look at the new documentary The Hunt For Shannon Matthews sees the victims rage 'we were used, abused and taken for a ride'.
The upcoming show, which will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video on Sunday 17 August, will see a number of people involved in the look for the young girl appear on our screens to talk about her disappearance.
Shannon was nine years old when she was reported missing in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, back in February 2008.
24 days after she was reported missing, she was found a few miles away at Karen's then-boyfriend Michael Donovan's house in a plot to claim a £50,000 reward.
In an exclusive first look at the documentary, Karen Matthews ' friend Julie Bushby rages: 'There was a lot of anger. Everybody felt betrayed.
'Everybody felt used and abused because we were all taken for a ride. It were everybody that went out searching that were taken for a ride.
'It were everybody that were putting posters up... taken for a ride.'
Retired Detective Constable Nick Townsend adds: 'She misled her own community, her friends, her family, the press, the nation, effectively, for 23 days.'
Petra Jamieson, a woman who lived on Dewsbury's Moorside Estate, says: 'She weren't allowed back on the estate by the police, so I never got to speak to Karen.
'Did I want to strangle her doing it? Did I want to punch her? Hug her? All of the above.'
Fighting back the tears, she continues: 'The children. What mum could do that to their own child?'
It comes after a man who investigated Shannon's disappearance revealed the moment he knew that her mum Karen the person behind it all during an appearance on This Morning earlier this week.
Richard Edwards, who was a local reporter at the time, and Karen's friend Julie appeared on Tuesday's instalment of the ITV show to talk about their involvement in the case.
Presenters Emma Willis, 49, and Andi Peters, 55, were keen to know the moment when they started to rethink things and become suspicious of Karen.
Retired Detective Constable Nick Townsend says: 'She misled her own community, her friends, her family, the press, the nation, effectively, for 23 days' (pictured)
Richard said: 'The conversation on the estate was fever pitch by then.
'A lot of people were talking about Karen's strange behaviour, but more and more people had started to actually say she'd been involved.
'There was one particular night where to this day I've never known who this person was.
'It was a Sunday night, a few days before Karen was arrested...
'A car pulled up on the estate, I was working, it was late on the Sunday, it was dark and a guy got out and he said 'Where's that Richard Edwards from the Yorkshire Evening Post?
'I thought I've done something to offend this fella, but I need to front up. I said "That's me".
'He came over, he was right at the end of Mooreside Road and he pointed towards the house, he went "She's done it. She's known where that little girl has been all along."
'Then got into the car and drove off and I thought right... that was weird.
'That was on top of the other stuff I'd been hearing. And then three days later she was arrested.'
An intrigued Emma asked: 'And you have no idea who that person was?'
'To this day, don't know who he was,' Richard replied.
'So if he's watching this and wants to get in touch with me just to explain who he is and just clear up that tiny little outstanding part of the story.
'I would love to hear from him because he didn't tell me who he was, but he was right!
'He was right!'

Sales assistant helps undercover police officers tackle phone shop raiders

Watch as a sales assistant helps undercover police officers stop phone shop raiders by pushing them out of the store. Footage shared by Chippenham Police on Monday (18 August) shows a group of men raiding the store in Borough Parade, Wiltshire, as shocked customers ran away in the opposite direction. The force had already been informed via intelligence that the store was being targeted by an organised criminal group, with officers waiting on standby to intervene. The group were shoved out of the store by a shop assistant, with undercover officers wielding battens standing outside as the group tried to make an escape. Plain-clothed police officers then chased the men before managing to tackle them to the ground. All six men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal at a court hearing on 12 June, and were sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday (14 August).

Family 'beyond lost' at father's death in Lancashire motorbike crash

The family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash in which a pedestrian was also killed have said they were "beyond lost" without him. David Hough, 55, has been named as one of the men who died at the scene in Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire, shortly after 22:30 BST on 7 August. Mr Hough's BMW motorbike had collided with two pedestrians, police said, fatally injuring 68-year-old Lyndon Wright. Lancashire Police said three men who were near the scene, at the junction of Preston Road and Cloverfield, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The family of Mr Hough, from Macclesfield in Cheshire, said in a tribute that they were "truly devastated" at the loss of a "most wonderful" father-of-three."He will be missed by his partner, his loving mother and father, sister, brother-in-law and nephew", they said. "We are beyond lost without him. He was a friend to so many and a man who will be missed beyond comparison." Police said the second pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Last week the family of Mr Wright described him as a "devoted husband and loving father".Lancashire Police said the three suspects, a 53-year-old man from Whittle-le-Woods, a 57-year-old man from Middlewich and a 46-year-old man from Congleton, have since been released under investigation. Sgt Joe Ghigi, from the force's roads policing unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with the families of David and Lyndon, and with the woman recovering in hospital. "They are being supported by specially trained officers at this distressing time."Enquiries into the collision are ongoing, and we are continuing to ask that anyone with information or footage that can assist our enquiries to get in contact."
