Dad of Quebec girl found dead in New York state charged with murder
BREAKING: New York State Police say they have arrested a Canadian man who faces charges after his nine-year-old daughter was found dead over the weekend near the Vermont border. Police say Luciano Frattolin is facing charges of second-degree murder and the concealment of a human corpse. Police say the body of Montreal resident Melina Frattolin was found on Sunday in Ticonderoga, NY, about 50 kilometres northeast of Lake George near the New York-Vermont border. More coming. Our earlier story: A nine-year-old girl from Quebec who was reported missing in Lake George, New York, has been found dead and her father, Luciano Frattolin, is being held at the Essex County Jail, according to reports. Melina Frattolin was reported missing at approximately 9:58 p.m. on July 19. Her father, 45, had told authorities that she had disappeared near Exit 22 of Interstate 87, close to the popular tourist destination in upstate New York. Initially treated as a possible abduction, the case prompted a search involving several agencies, including the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Essex County Sheriff's Office, Ticonderoga Police Department and New York State Police canine and aviation units. As the investigation progressed, police said they identified 'inconsistencies' in the father's account of events and the timeline he provided. The case was then turned over to the New York State Police. In a statement issued Sunday, police said Melina's body was located in Ticonderoga, approximately an hour northeast of where she was reported missing. 'There is no indication that an abduction occurred, and no threat to the public,' the statement read. A press conference is expected Monday. According to Quebec's business registry, Luciano Frattolin is the owner of Gambella Coffee, based in downtown Montreal.

Girl, 9, in 'imminent danger' after being abducted in white van from Lake George in New York
Police are frantically searching for a nine-year-old girl they believe has been abducted from Lake George in New York by a suspect in a white van. New York State Police (NYSP) has asked for the public's assistance in locating Melina Galanis Frattolin, warning that they believe she is in 'imminent danger'. She was last seen in a white van on Saturday at 9.40pm EST, traveling southbound on Interstate 87 near exit 22, according to NYSP. 'The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death,' the department said. NYSP issued an Amber Alert on Sunday after the girl still had not been found. Warren County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is investigating the case as a child abduction. The suspect's identity is not known, or their registration plate. Anyone with information should call WCSO at 518-743-2501 or to dial 911. Galanis Frattolin is described as five feet tall, weighing 100 pounds and being of Indian descent with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt, shorts and white Adidas sneakers. Police did not disclose what Galanis Frattolin was doing at the time of the abduction, where she was or who she was with. The Daily Mail has contacted local officials for more information. Amber Alerts are activated in 'the most serious child-abduction cases,' according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) website. 'The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the community to assist in the search for and safe recovery of a missing child. 'These alerts are broadcast through radio, TV, road signs, cellphones, and other data-enabled devices.' The nonprofit said that 1,268 children have been 'recovered' thanks to their assistance in 2025 alone. Lake George, where the girl was last seen, is a small waterside town in the Adirondack region of upstate New York around 60 miles north of Albany.

Father of Canadian girl who was found dead in N.Y. arrested
The father of the nine-year-old Canadian girl who was found dead after being reported missing in northeastern New York was arrested Monday morning, according to VINE — a system that allows victims of crime in the U.S. to obtain information about criminal cases. More to come. Below is a previous version of this story. A news release from New York State Police says officers from the Warren County Sheriff's Office received a call from a man who said his nine-year-old daughter was missing from the area of Exit 22 of I-87 in Lake George, possibly due to an abduction, on Saturday just before 10 p.m. ET. They say the child was identified as Canadian resident Melina Frattolin, and her father as 45-year-old Luciano Frattolin. Both father and daughter were identified by authorities as residents of Canada. The release says the Warren County Sheriff's Office initially led the investigation but, as the case progressed, officers identified inconsistencies in the father's account of events and the timeline of Melina's disappearance. Police in New York say with the help of several local agencies, Melina was found dead on Sunday in Ticonderoga, N.Y., about 50 kilometres east of Lake George near the New York-Vermont border. No indication abduction occurred, say police The investigation has been turned over to the New York State Police, who said there is no indication at this time that an abduction occurred and there is no threat to the public. There was no word on charges in the news release, and New York State Police did not immediately respond to questions about the circumstances surrounding Melina's death. Law enforcement officials said a news conference is scheduled for Monday. Luciano's whereabouts weren't clear late Sunday. He did not immediately respond to requests for comment sent via LinkedIn, Instagram and his company website, but describes himself as a "loving father" on his Instagram profile. On the website of the Gambella coffee company headquartered in downtown Montreal, said to be founded by Luciano, a post says that his daughter, Melina, is "the light of his life."
