Mark Snr could be seen emerging from the water shouting: 'You f**king idiot', as he quickly tried to retrieve his phone that was in his pocket at the time.
Former Towie star Mark can be heard laughing hysterically while Jess scrambled to help their dad.
He shared the video online but not everyone found it funny and many were concerned for Jess's son Presley's safety.
One person wrote: 'Not funny with the steps and the child , could have ended badly.'
A second said: 'Not funny at all!! Didn't you see the child close to him! Absolutely shocking and uncomfortable to watch!!!'
While a third added: 'Na this was so out of order Mark! not funny at all. He may be fine, however, it could have been so bad.'
And a fourth wrote: 'That was not funny, could have had a serious accident.'
The family were enjoying the weather from Mark and his wife Michelle Keegan's £3.5m home, which boasts its own swimming pool.
Mark is known for his love of pranks and he was hoping to sign his Brassic actress wife up for the Michael McIntyre's Big Show programme on the BBC but he quickly backed out.

Michael admitted that Mark insisted that Michelle take part in the programme's infamous Midnight Gameshow.
In the sketch, Michael surprises a celebrity in the dead of the night in their bedroom.
The unsuspecting star is then forced to participate in a series of games all from the comfort of their bed.
Teasing Mark's plans, Michael said: "I ran into Mark Wright at a golf day and he said: 'You've got to wake up my wife [Michelle Keegan]'...
"But then he was like: 'I don't think I can do this, she's going to hate me.'
However, Mark soon realised there could be a very dangerous problem.
Michael recalled: "Then he mentioned that there's some sort of attack dog that sleeps on the bed with them."

Darwin Nunez pays tribute to Liverpool team-mate Diogo Jota with celebration after scoring in friendly against Preston

Darwin Nunez paid tribute to his Liverpool team-mate Diogo Jota by performing his celebration after scoring in a pre-season friendly against Preston. Liverpool were taking to the field for the first time since the tragic passing of Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva, 25, in a car crash in Spain on July 3. Tributes were paid to Jota and Silva on an emotional afternoon at Deepdale. Conor Bradley put Liverpool in front in the 33rd minute, with Nunez making it 2-0 in the 53rd minute with a good finish. After finding the net, Nunez performed Jota's PlayStation celebration. He also pointed to the sky in memory of his team-mate. Raul Jimenez, who played with Jota at Wolves, previously paid tribute with the celebration after scoring for Mexico against the USA in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final. Isla Fisher is enjoying a new lease on life after finalising her divorce from ex-husband Sacha Baron Cohen. The Australian actress stepped out at Wimbledon in London on Sunday, where she had a mystery male friend on her arm at the Champagne Lanson event at Agapanthus Suite. The 49-year-old was glowing as she posed beside the man, who warmly rested his arm around her waist as the pair beamed for photos against the media wall. Isla opted for a cream ensemble which included a blouse worn under a blazer and a matching pleated midi-skirt. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The star added a pair of white leather high heels in a patent finish and sported a pair of designer sunglasses, while carrying a wicker purse. Her handsome guest coordinated with Isla, wearing a white shirt with a cream suit and a pair of trainers. He completed the look with a floral tie and like the actress, had on a pair of sunglasses. The duo stuck close together at the event, and were also seem arriving together with Isla walking a little in front of her pal. Isla was also the picture of happiness last week as she stepped out looking glamorous in a busty floral dress for day one of the Wimbledon Championships. The Australian actress couldn't wipe the smile off her face, looking radiant in a Monique Lhuillier lemon-printed corseted dress worth $4,703. Isla and her ex-husband Sacha, 53, announced they had finalised their £120 million (approx. AU$250 million) divorce on June 14. In a message posted simultaneously on both their Instagram sites, the pair said: 'Our divorce has now been finalised. The star added a pair of white leather high heels in a patent finish and sported a pair of designer sunglasses, while carrying a wicker purse 'We are proud of all we've achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children. 'We ask for the media to continue to respect our children's privacy.' Sacha and Isla first met in 2001 and married in 2010. They were believed to have one of the strongest marriages in showbusiness before quietly separating in 2023. They then publicly announced their break-up in April 2024, and it now appears they have amicably resolved any differences. A source said: 'It's all sorted. Now Sacha and Isla both just want to get on with the rest of their lives and focus on their family's well-being.' The couple - who have three children together - first met at a party in Sydney, Australia, in 2001. Speaking of their first encounter, Sacha recalled quickly noticing Isla was 'hilarious'. He remembered: 'We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people at the party.' 'I knew instantly. I don't know if she did,' he added. The pair announced their separation last year with a picture of themselves wearing tennis whites. They confirmed in an accompanying message: 'After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.' Speaking earlier this year of their break-up, Isla said: 'It's the most difficult thing that I've been through and I've learnt so much about myself in the process. 'I never imagined my family being separated but we are committed and loving parents.'
