Manipur govt will ensure Gwaltabi incident does not occur in future: Chief Secretary
He said the administration is committed to the integrity of the State of Manipur.
Addressing a press conference with Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, the Chief Secretary said the recently concluded Shirui festival at Ukhrul district attracted about 1.70 lakh people, and people of all communities travelled with families from valley areas and other parts of the state as well as from outside the state.
Mr. Singh acknowledged that an unfortunate incident happened at Gwaltabi on May 20 when a Manipur State Road Transport Bus ferrying journalists to the festival was stopped, and the name of the state written on the windshield was reportedly covered with a white paper, leading to widespread criticism.
Over the last week, protests over the Gwaltabi incident have rocked the Meitei-inhabited Imphal Valley.
Mr. Singh said, "That there had been no instructions whatsoever or even remote thought of covering the name of the State, as has been alleged. This has been amply clarified by the state government as well as by the responsible political leadership. What transpired on the ground, would be revealed after a thorough inquiry only." Expressing regret over the incident, Mr. Singh also said the state administration has taken the reported untoward incident with utmost seriousness and the Governor has constituted an Inquiry Committee which will submit its report in a timebound manner.
Urging all to maintain public order, Singh also assured all concerned that "Once the report is submitted and those responsible for the lapses, if any, are identified, strict action would be taken."
"The state government will also ensure that such incident does not occur in future. The administration is committed to the integrity of the state of Manipur, and the only aim of all these efforts is to establish lasting peace in the state," Mr. Singh added.

Man flies drone inside Pilibhit Tiger Reserve; probe ordered
Pilibhit (UP), Aug 17 (PTI) A man allegedly violated forest regulations by flying a drone inside the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh, prompting the forest department to order an investigation into the matter, officials said on Sunday. Deputy director of the reserve, Manish Singh, said a video of the incident is being examined. 'Flying drones in protected forest areas is strictly prohibited, as it poses a threat to wildlife and disturbs their natural activities. Strict action will be taken against the offender so that no one dares to violate forest protection rules in future," ," Singh told reporters. According to forest officials, the accused has been identified as Arbaaz Ansari, who runs an Instagram page named 'Pilibhit Zone'. Ansari allegedly flew a drone without permission in the Mala zone of the reserve, a core forest area, recording visuals after stopping by a roadside stretch and later uploading them on social media. Experts termed the act illegal and dangerous for the safety of the animal species in the reserve. The Mala range is considered highly sensitive, with past incidents of poaching and illegal wildlife activity reported from the area, they said. Lower Parel resident fires from air gun at delivery boy, arrested
A resident of Lower Parel was arrested on Saturday for allegedly firing at a 17-year-old delivery boy with an air gun over a dispute over payment for an online delivery of medicines. According to personnel of NM Joshi Marg police station, the accused Saurabh Kumar Singh, a resident of Prakash Cotton Mill in Hanuman Gali, Lower Parel, and works in a private bank, ordered some medicines online and opted for cash on delivery. When the order was delivered on Saturday, Singh allegedly found some medicines missing and refused to pay the full amount. An argument started between the delivery boy and the accused shut the door without paying the whole amount. The delivery boy sat for a while outside the door and rang the bell twice but when Singh refused to pay, he started repeatedly ringing the doorbell. An annoyed Singh brought out an air gun and threatened the boy to leave the place, pointing the gun at his chest. The boy did not leave and Singh fired at the boy, said senior inspector Vilas Rane of the NM Joshi Marg police station. The delivery boy then alerted his office and approached NM Joshi Marg police station from where a team visited the spot. Police said that despite being aware that the air gun shot could seriously injure the boy, the accused fired at him, said a police officer. A case was registered under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 125 ( acts that endanger human life), 351(2) (Criminal Intimidation), and 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS and along with several sections of Arms Act against Singh and he was arrested.

Govt warns of action against striking amins
Patna: Revenue and land reforms department has warned of strict action against the striking amins whose protest is disrupting the ongoing door-to-door campaign aimed at correcting errors in 'jamabandi' and updating online land records. The statewide initiative, known as the Rajaswa Mahaabhiyan, began on Aug 16 and will continue till Sept 20. In response to the strike, the department has deactivated the login credentials of the protesting amins, barred them from govt duties, and prohibited their entry into the office premises. The state govt is also considering terminating their employment and recruiting new personnel to replace them. Additional chief secretary Deepak Kumar Singh said, "We are reviewing the possibility of dismissing the striking special survey amins and restarting the recruitment process to ensure continuity of the campaign." The indefinite strike, which began on Augt 16, involves not only a large number of survey amins but also clerical staff engaged in the special land survey. To ensure the smooth execution of the Rajaswa Mahaabhiyan, Singh appealed to the representatives of their union to cooperate, emphasising that the campaign is a vital public service initiative.
