GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan has more than its fair share of influential musicians. There's Madonna and Eminem. There are rockers like Alice Cooper, The White Stripes and Grand Funk Railroad. And, of course, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and 'the Motown Sound' the defined R&B for decades.
But none of them feel quite like home the same way Bob Seger does.

The 'Ramblin', Gamblin' Man' turned 80 years old Tuesday. Born in Detroit and raised in Ann Arbor, Seger and his various bands became one of the state's top acts throughout the 1970s and '80s.
The now-retired Seger has sold more than 50 million records and had 31 songs hit the Billboard Hot 100. In honor of his 80th birthday, these are his eight biggest chart toppers.
OLD TIME ROCK & ROLL
Arguably his most famous song, 'Old Time Rock & Roll' spent the most weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 — 22. It was first released on his 10th studio album, 'Stranger in Town.'
The Recording Industry Association of America named it to its 'Songs of the Century' list.
SHAME ON THE MOON
'Shame on the Moon' came in a close second. It spent 21 weeks on the Hot 100, one week shy of 'Old Time Rock & Roll.'
However, while the 1979 single peaked at No. 28. 'Shame on the Moon' reached No. 2.
NIGHT MOVES
Likewise, 'Night Moves' also spent 21 weeks on the Hot 100 chart. It debuted on Dec. 11, 1976, and went on to peak at No. 4.

TRYIN' TO LIVE MY LIFE WITHOUT YOU
Seger's fourth highest-rated chart topper is a cover. 'Tryin' To Live My Life Without You' was originally written by Eugene Frank Williams and popularized by soul singer Otis Clay.
Seger's cover spent 19 weeks on the Hot 100 and peaked at No. 5.
SHAKEDOWN
'Shakedown' was Seger's only No. 1 hit. It spent 18 weeks on the Hot 100.
Seger helped bring a little more Detroit flavor to 'Beverly Hills Cop II.' The film features Eddie Murphy as a Detroit police detective who is a fish out of water while working a case in California.
STILL THE SAME
Nos. 6 through 8 show Seger's softer side, which is featured in his arguably more popular songs.
'Still the Same' hit the Hot 100 in May of 1978 and stayed there for 18 weeks, peaking at No. 4.
AGAINST THE WIND
'Against the Wind' was one of four Seger songs to hit the Top 100 in 1980, along with 'You'll Accomp'ny Me,' 'Fire Lake' and 'The Horizontal Bop.'
'Against the Wind' spent 17 weeks on the Hot 100 chart and peaked at No. 5.
WE'VE GOT TONIGHT
'We've Got Tonight' is one of the hits off of 'Stranger in Town.' It sold more than 6 million copies, the highest total aside from Seger's 1994 greatest hits compilation.
The album also includes 'Old Time Rock & Roll,' 'Hollywood Nights,' 'Still The Same' and 'Feel Like a Number.'

One Direction's ‘Night Changes' Music Video Hits 1 Billion Views on YouTube

1D has hit 1B — again. More than a decade after its release, the music video for One Direction's 'Night Changes' has surpassed a billion views on YouTube, marking the band's fourth visual to reach the milestone. Directed by Ben Winston and posted in November 2014, the 'Night Changes' music video gave fans the chance to experience what it would be like to do something many of them had long dreamed of: go on a date with one (or all) of the members of the band. Shot in a first-person POV, viewers were made to feel like they were sitting down at a fancy restaurant with Zayn Malik, ice skating with Harry Styles, riding shotgun next to Louis Tomlinson, sitting by a cozy fire with Niall Horan and walking around a carnival with Liam Payne. A disgruntled ex dumps spaghetti on Malik's head, Styles injures himself and his love interest in a misguided move on the ice, Tomlinson is pulled over and arrested by a road cop, Horan accidentally sets his sweater sleeve on fire and Payne vomits in his date's hat after getting too dizzy on a spinning fair ride. 'We're only gettin' older, baby/ And I've been thinking about it lately/ Does it ever drive you crazy/ Just how fast the night changes?' the quintet sings in unison as the video's vibes quickly turn from romantic to catastrophic. Released as a single from 1D's fourth studio album, Four, 'Night Changes' is considered a staple in the boy band's catalog. The track reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, one of numerous top 40 hits One Direction achieved between the group's debut in 2010 and dissolution in 2016. Following Payne's death last October, many of the guys' songs experienced a streaming boost as grieving Directioners revisited their discography while processing the news — but 'Night Changes' was the song fans flocked to the most. The track's playback saw a 416% increase in the days that followed the 'Strip That Down' singer's fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, re-entering both the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 95 and the Billboard Global 200 at No. 117. Add your view to more than a billion others by watching the 'Night Changes' music video above. Young Thug Recalls Getting ‘Stood Up' By Mariah The Scientist on Their First Date

Young Thug and Mariah The Scientist have been going strong for four years — even remaining together through Thugger's two-plus-year incarceration — but their relationship may have never gotten off the ground if the YSL rapper didn't remain persistent. Thug and Mariah sat down for a couple's quiz with GQ on Wednesday (June 4), and Thugger accused the 'Burning Blue' singer of standing him up on their first date. 'How about that? I don't know what you had on.' Mariah was taken aback and denied skipping out on the date. 'This is crazy,' she replied. 'No I did not.' When they settled on their real first date, there was still a debate over what Mariah had on, as Thug suggested she had on black attire at an all-white affair. 'I had on white and some jeans,' she said. 'Zero points. Ain't had no black on. My pants was kinda dark.' Young Thug was released from jail on Halloween (Oct. 31) after being arrested as part of the YSL RICO case in May 2022. Mariah made appointment visits to support her man and hold him down during his incarceration. Last month, Mariah earned her highest-charting hit on the Billboard Hot 100 when 'Burning Blue' debuted at No. 25. As for Thug, fans are anticipating his UY SCUTI album, which he joked with GQ that the project would be released on June 37. Watch the full Couples Quiz below. Madonna Sets July Release Date For Long-Rumored ‘Veronica Electronica' EDM Remix Album

Madonna is giving the people what they want. The singer announced on Thursday morning (June 5) that she will release the long-rumored Veronica Electronica collection, an album featuring rare and unreleased remixes of songs from her beloved 1998 Ray of Light album. The eight-track LP will be released digitally and on silver vinyl on July 25. The album was previewed on Thursday with the glitchy, thumping deep cut 'Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit).' According to a release, Veronica Electronica was originally meant to be a remix companion to Ray of Light, but was sidelined by the success of the original album, which hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200, sold more than 16 million copies and earned four Grammy awards — including best pop album. It also spawned a series of chart hits, including the No. 2 Billboard Hot 100 single 'Frozen,' the No. 5 hit title track, No. 11 single 'The Power of Good-Bye' and 'Nothing Really Matters' (No. 93). The collection spotlights newly edited versions of club remixes by frequent collaborator William Orbit, as well as Peter Rauhofer, Sasha, BT and Victor Calderone, as well as the original demo of 'Gone, Gone, Gone' a previously unreleased recording co-produced by the singer and Rick Nowels. The singer's most recent studio album was 2021's Madame X. In May, it was reported that she was teaming up with Deadpool & Wolverine producer Shawn Levy to develop a series based on her life for Netflix.
