The Thompson family say they would like his funeral at St Mark's Church in Worsley, Greater Manchester, to be a "beautiful day" and to "celebrate Joe's life and what he did with his time here on Earth".
Posting on Instagram,, external they said: "It doesn't feel real, planning to say goodbye to Joe.
"Joe wanted an open funeral so that anyone who feels like Joe has impacted their life in any way can attend to say their goodbyes and pay their respects."

Details emerge from Hulk Hogan's funeral

Mourners gathered for the private service at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Clearwater, which Hogan - real name Terry Bollea - attended regularly during the latter years of his life to pray. Terry would want each and every one of us to put a smile on our faces and be the reason someone else smiles. Let's continue his kindness in a world that needs a little love.'
