India U-19
wicketkeeper-batter Harvansh Singh Pangalia
on Tuesday scored an whirlwind century in a warm-up match against England U-19.
Walking in at 251/7 during the 36th over, Harvansh Singh Pangalia joined RS Ambrish at the crease and the duo stitched together a valuable 126-run partnership.
Ambrish took the lead during this stand, making a fluent 72 off 47 balls before being dismissed.
At that point, Pangalia had already reached 47 off 33 balls and promptly brought up his half-century with a boundary on the next delivery.
Pangalia unleashed a stunning assault in the final three overs. He launched the 48th over with back-to-back sixes off Manny Lumsden, who then bowled two no-balls consecutively. The next over saw another six off Matthew Firbank, but the fireworks truly exploded in the last over.
Pangalia smashed Lumsden for a four, followed by three towering sixes—his final maximum bringing up a brilliant century off just 52 deliveries.
Notably, his second fifty came at lightning speed, taking only 18 balls.

Who is Harvansh?
India U-19 wicketkeeper-batter Harvansh Singh hails from Gandhidham, a small town in Gujarat's Rann of Kutch. Growing up, he saw his father, Damandeep Singh, and uncle, Kunwarajeet Singh, who played cricket in their town, and interestingly, both of them were wicketkeepers. Now, Harvansh's family is settled in Canada. His father drives a truck in Brampton. Harvansh lives in Gandhidham with his mother and has made a promise to his father that one day he will get them back to India.
Damandeep never thought a video of
Yuvraj Singh
's six sixes would make his son so obsessed with the game that he would take a vow to represent his country.
"Even Rajkot is 200 km away from our city. It was only in 2012 when the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) opened an academy in our town. I enrolled Harvansh in it when he was six. He picked up keeping from me, as I used to don the gloves as well. But he turned southpaw because of Yuvraj Singh. He's a massive Yuvraj fan and hasn't even seen peak Yuvraj, but he was obsessed with the video of him hitting six sixes off Stuart Broad," Damandeep had told TimesofIndia.com in an interview.

Rassie van der Dussen to lead South Africa's T20I squad for tri-series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand
South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen celebrates after scoring fifty during the ICC Champions Trophy cricket match between Afghanistan and South Africa, in Karachi, Pakistan Friday, Feb. 21, 2025. AP/PTI South Africa has named Rassie van der Dussen , who has played 50 T20 Internationals, as captain of their T20I squad that includes four uncapped players - Corbin Bosch, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Rubin Hermann, and Senuran Muthusamy - for the tri-series against hosts Zimbabwe and New Zealand, set to take place in Harare from 14 - 26 July. The new faces earned their spots following impressive domestic performances, particularly in the SA20 tournament. Pretorius dominated the 2025 SA20 edition as the leading run-scorer, accumulating 397 runs with a strike rate of 166. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rubin Hermann also showed his prowess with 333 runs at an average of 41.43. Bosch, who has previously represented the Proteas in ODIs and Tests, contributed significantly to MI Cape Town's SA20 victory this year, while Muthusamy strengthens the team's spin-bowling all-rounder options. The squad welcomes back Dewald Brevis, Nandre Burger, and Gerald Coetzee after their injury recoveries, joining Lungi Ngidi and emerging fast bowler Kwena Maphaka in the bowling department. "With several senior players rested as part of their workload management, it creates opportunities for others to step in and show what they can offer," said head coach Shukri Conrad, who will oversee his first T20I series since becoming the all-format coach. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now "This is a chance for us to build depth and see how these players cope with international demands," Conrad added. 'In the best of hands': Thomas Bach hails new International Olympic Committee president Kirsty Coventry in handover ceremony
IOC President Thomas Bach and President-elect Kirsty Coventry pose during the handover ceremony of the IOC Presidency (Image via AP/Laurent Cipriani) Kirsty Coventry became the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the most powerful person in sport, on Monday in a handover ceremony with her predecessor Thomas Bach . The Zimbabwean is the first woman and African to head the body and at 41 the youngest since Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who is credited with founding the modern-day Olympics. Coventry accepted the Olympic key from Bach, who like her is an Olympic champion - he won a team fencing gold in 1976 and she earned two swimming golds in 2004 and 2008. Stepping down after a turbulent 12-year tenure, Bach expressed his confidence that the Olympic movement was "in the best of hands" and Coventry would bring "conviction, integrity and a dynamic perspective" to the role. Coventry, who swept to a crushing first-round victory in the election in Greece in March, leans heavily on her family. Aside from her parents, who were present at the ceremony in Lausanne, there is her husband Tyrone Seward, who was effectively her campaign manager, and two daughters, six-year-old Ella, who Bach addresses as "princess", and Lily, just seven months old. "Ella saw this spider web in the garden and I pointed out how it is made, and how strong and resilient it is to bad weather and little critters," said Coventry, who takes over officially at midnight Swiss time Monday (2200 GMT). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Are you from Bangladesh? That spider web is our movement, it is complex, beautiful and strong but it only works if we remain together and united." Pure passion Coventry said she could not believe how her life had evolved since she first dreamt of Olympic glory in 1992. "How lucky are we creating a platform for generations to come to reach their dreams," she said to a packed audience in a marquee in the Olympic House garden, which comprised IOC members, including those she defeated, and dignitaries. Poll Do you believe Kirsty Coventry's election as IOC president will positively impact the Olympic movement? Definitely Not Sure Not Likely "It is amazing and incredible, indeed I cannot believe that from my dream in 1992 of going to an Olympic Games and winning a medal I would be standing here with you to make dreams for more young children round the world." Coventry, who served in the Zimbabwean government as sports and arts Minister from 2019 to this year, said the Olympic movement was much more than a "multi-sport event platform." "We (IOC members) are guardians of this movement, which is also about inspiring and changing lives and bringing hope," she said. "These things are not to be taken lightly and I will be working with each and every one of you to continue to change lives and be a beacon of hope in a divided world. "I am really honoured to walk this journey with you." Bach, who during his tenure had to grapple with Russian doping and their invasions of the Crimea and Ukraine as well as the Covid pandemic, said he was standing down filled with "gratitude, joy and confidence" in his successor. "With her election it sends out a powerful message, that the IOC continues to evolve," said the 71-year-old German, who was named honorary lifetime president in Greece in March. Jasprit Bumrah press conference: Lashes out at critics, dropped catches and no balls "It has its first female and African to hold this position, and the youngest president since Pierre de Coubertin. She represents the truly global and youthful spirit of our community." Bach, who choked back tears at one point during his valedictory speech, was praised to the rafters by Coventry, who was widely seen as his preferred candidate of the seven vying for his post. After a warm embrace she credited him with teaching her to "listen to people and to respect them," and praised him for leading the movement with "pure passion and purpose." "You have kept us united through the most turbulent times. "You left us with many legacies and hope, thank you from the bottom of my heart for leading us with passion and never wavering from our values."
