Real gradually found their rhythm, with Rodrygo threatening from distance before they broke the deadlock in the 34th minute.
Gonzalo
, starting in place of the absent Kylian Mbappe, sparked a sweeping counterattack and continued his run into the box, where he delicately finished off Rodrygo's low cross after a slick exchange of passes.
The lead didn't last long. Four minutes before the break, Al Hilal were awarded a penalty after Raul Asencio was adjudged to have pulled down Marcos Leonardo.

Real pushed forward in the second half, with Arda Guler - introduced at the break - nearly restoring the lead as he crashed a volley off the crossbar from a Vinicius Jr. delivery.
The Spanish side looked to be gaining control, and with just minutes left, were handed a golden chance to seal victory when Mohammed Al Qahtani was penalised for a hand to Fran Garcia's face during a tussle.
Valverde stepped up, but his spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Bounou, ensuring Al Hilal earned a valuable point from a hard-fought contest.

'It was a very good match from my team,' said Italian coach
Simone Inzaghi
, who also took charge of Al Hilal for the first time. 'We played an excellent, organised game. We stood up to one of the top three teams in the world, and I'm very satisfied.'
Alonso, meanwhile, acknowledged his team's slow start: 'In the first half we were missing a lot - both in possession and defensively. We gave the ball away too easily and lacked balance. These were things we had talked about, but it took us some time to adjust.'

Watch: Donald Trump makes Juventus players uncomfortable with dig at trans athletes during their White House visit
Juventus players were left puzzled when US President Donald Trump asked if women could be part of their team during a White House visit. read more Juventus had a good day on the pitch on Wednesday in the US, beating Al Ain 5-0 in their Club World Cup opener after an eventful trip to the White House, where they were confronted by President Donald Trump about women playing in their team. Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao both bagged braces as Juventus cruised to the top of Group G above Manchester City, who beat Wydad AC. Trump confronts Juventus team about 'men playing in women's sports' During their visit to the White House, some Juventus players and staff were asked by Trump, whom they presented with a club shirt, whether they thought a woman would be able to make their first team. Trump appeared to be making a point against transgender athletes. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Juve general manager Damien Comolli replied that the club had a 'very good women's team'. Trump asks the Juventus players standing behind him if women could make their team and tries to bait them into endorsing his transphobia — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) June 18, 2025 More from Football The Juventus players stayed silent but were far more comfortable speaking on the pitch as they dismantled UAE's Al Ain at Audi Field in front of 18,000 fans. 'You don't go to the White House every day, so it was a real pleasure to go there,' said Juventus coach Igor Tudor. '(In the game) we did a number of excellent things, we played at a good tempo… all things considered it's a good start.' Kolo Muani, who extended his loan from Paris Saint-Germain to play in the tournament in the United States, opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a header from Alberto Costa's cross. Juventus doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Conceicao, on loan from Porto, skipped away from one defender in the box before firing home with the help of a deflection. Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz netted the third after 31 minutes, carving out some space on the edge of the box and drilling in at the near post. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD French striker Kolo Muani grabbed his second with a deft finish in first-half stoppage time to pile on the misery for Al Ain. Kouame Autonne had a goal disallowed for offside for the UAE side before Conceicao struck again, benefitting from another slight deflection. Kolo Muani might have completed his hat-trick when sent through but goalkeeper Rui Patricio shut him down well, and Douglas Luiz blasted narrowly off-target late on. Kolo Muani: 'Juventus had a great game' Juventus, who finished fourth in Serie A, are hoping to make up for a trophyless season with success in the United States this summer. 'The team had a great game, we're happy, we'll get ready for the next game,' said Kolo Muani. 'I just want to play well for my team-mates, for the club, and we'll see (how many I can) score.' It is unlikely to get any easier for Al Ain as they next face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in Atlanta. 'We respected (Juventus) more than we needed to at the beginning and this was something that let them score two or three goals easily,' said Al Ain's Serbian coach Vladimir Ivic. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'We're at the World Cup and we played against such a good team… what (is there) to do? We have to think about the next one.' With agency inputs
