30 Hobbies for Moms That Work With Your Life
You know those hours you spend at the playground or park? There are rocks there, and in fact, landscape rock can be a great place to find agates and other cool specimens. If you get really into rockhounding, you can look for rocks while your kids play at the beach or explore a creek.
Who doesn't want to be the mom who can do magic tricks (we all know that just keeping small humans clean, fed, and alive is basically magic already)? Get a few simple books on magic from your local library and study up. This is a great hobby to pick up and put down, and you've got a built-in audience in the form of your kids.
It's nice to have a quiet hobby for naptimes or after kids are in bed, and it's even better if you can put it aside easily. Genealogy is basically like a giant puzzle to solve. How many generations can you go back? How much do you know about your family history? Join a service like Ancestry or do it on your own.
Not sure what you might like to do as a hobby? Think about what excited you before you had kids. There's probably a variation that will be easy to do in small bursts of time.
Your kids have sippy cups and juice boxes, so why shouldn't you? We love winemaking as a mom hobby because it's happening in the background while you're going through your day-to-day routine. You get winemaking supplies and set everything up, and then, you just let time do its thing. You can start with a wine kit (or dry wine kit) too if you want to make things even easier on yourself.

We all have a camera at our fingertips these days, so you don't have to invest in a ton of expensive equipment or be a pro photographer to take pictures. The key is consistency. Set a goal to take one photo every day. It doesn't matter what it is (your lunch, your little one's scraped knee, the flower you saw on your walk, anything goes). At the end of the year, you'll have a photo journal of your life.
From herbs like mint to edible mushrooms, nature is full of tasty foods to augment your supermarket staples. Grab a book and get to know what you're seeing. There are lots of edible berries too. Make sure you supervise littles and talk about what you're doing so they don't go eating everything they encounter, though.
Sure, a ballroom class would be fun, but finding a sitter is a pain. You've got YouTube, though. Learn any kind of dance you want and practice during naptime or in the evening. It's even great exercise (and no one has to know you're doing it if you're self-conscious).

Geocaching is basically a giant treasure hunt. You use GPS coordinates to find little hidden stashes of notes, small trinkets, and other little things. It's really cool as a hobby for stay-at-home moms or moms with flexible schedules because you can go out looking for caches when the trails aren't too busy and get the kids out at the same time. You can use a geocaching app to help.
Doing your nails is about a lot more than putting on some polish these days. You can create funky designs with special nail art brushes and pens, practice different painting techniques, and more. This is a perfect hobby for busy moms because it doesn't take that long to do, but you get to enjoy it for days or even weeks.

Who says bird watching is only for grandpas? When you're rocking your kids, making dinner, driving to work, or walking to the park, there are birds. Pick up a field guide for your area so you can identify what you see and keep a log. This can actually be a really fun hobby to share with kids too.
If you don't have a huge hobby budget but want to try something fun, we love upcycling. You can hit up the thrift stores or flea markets or shop your own house for some fun things to use in new ways. What's great about this as a mom hobby is that it's easy to pick up and put down. You don't have to do a project all at once, and you can even take older kids thrifting with you (a toddler in a thrift store is like a bull in a china shop, though).
From your best friend to your grandma, the people in your life will love getting a real letter or two. A text or a phone call is always nice, but you can hold a real letter in your hand and reread it anytime. Writing letters is easy to do while kids are playing, and if you get interrupted, you can put it away until you have a little more time.
An added bonus of letter-writing is that you get to have a record of your days with your kids. I wrote my grandma twice a week in the last few years of her life, and when she died, I discovered a whole box of my letters that she had saved. They're all about my kids when they were little babies.

"I almost missed practice a couple times" - When Magic Johnson turned a Bel-Air mansion into his own basketball-disco paradise
"I almost missed practice a couple times" - When Magic Johnson turned a Bel-Air mansion into his own basketball-disco paradise originally appeared on Basketball Network. By the mid-1980s, Magic Johnson had already conquered just about everything worth conquering. Championships, Finals MVPs, endorsement deals, you name it. But even with all the on-court success and off-court fame, he was still living in a Culver City apartment, which didn't quite align with his superstar status in the Association. All of that changed when the Los Angeles Lakers icon finally found a home that matched his off-court persona and energy: a six-bedroom, Tudor-style estate tucked deep in the hills of Bel-Air. This wasn't about flexing his money, although it definitely had some of that as well; it was about finally finding the place he could call home, no matter how cheesy it might sound. From the moment Magic stepped foot inside, he knew the search for his place under the sun was over. "We started off with this one," Johnson said in 1985 via the LA Times. "I told him, 'I don't have to look anymore, George (his attorney). This is it.' All I had to see was one room (now his disco), the racquetball court and the bathtub. Where else am I really gonna be?" "I always wanted to own a home, but I wanted it to be different. I wanted a special place," Magic Man added. "Hey, I'm blessed. I never would have imagined this. The house I grew up in back home could probably fit into the gym (racquetball court), and your imagination can only go as far as what you've seen." So perfect that it felt like a dream for Johnson The house sits at the end of a winding road, with canyon walls on both sides and nothing but open green space stretching out behind it. It's quiet. No traffic, no noise, no distractions. Just a backyard with twin grills, a red-brick pool deck (in which Magic hadn't just yet jumped in) and a whole lot of open blue sky above the City of Angels. It was perfect for enjoying the little bit of time that an NBA player of his caliber has on his hands. However, that's the kind of setup that can easily break your daily routine, and, in Johnson's case, mess up with practice schedules. "I almost missed practice a couple times," the man who orchestrated the Showtime in LA said. "I'd be out here eating breakfast. I'd be daydreaming, just kind of in a trance, and then I'd look at my watch and see I was almost late for practice." In addition to all that, inside the house, Magic had transformed one of the rooms into a disco, complete with lights and a sound system, where he could unwind and throw a few moves when the mood struck. "I don't just like music, I love it," Johnson added. "When I saw this room, I said, 'Oh, man, I know what I want to do with this .' I spend an hour or two in here every day. This is where I live." Magic didn't stop after getting his mansion That Bel-Air mansion might've been Magic's first real taste of a settled life in Los Angeles, but he didn't settle for long. After moving in, Johnson added three more championship rings to his resume: one in 1985, another in 1987 and his final one in 1988. He finally received his first, well-deserved, MVP award and added two more for good measure. Magic Man also continued to elevate the Lakers dynasty alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy to make it one of the greatest dynasties in sports history. By the time the decade was over, so was the debate about where he stood among the game's greatest point guards. Johnson had redefined the position and the trophy case did all the talking for him. Even now, 40 years later, he's still the bar that every new floor general gets measured against. The man who used to nearly miss practice while eating breakfast next to the Bel-Air hills… And no matter how many properties he's owned since, that first one still feels like the place where Magic truly felt like story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Jul 18, 2025, where it first appeared.

BREAKUP ALERT? Love Island's JaNa Craig Unfollows Kenny Rodriguez on Instagram
The fairy tale may be over. One of Love Island USA's most beloved couples might have quietly called it quits, and fans are already mourning the potential end of JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez's whirlwind romance. The speculation is loud, the social media evidence is damning, and while no official statement has been made, the writing might be on the villa wall. JaNa and Kenny, who found love on Season 6 of Love Island USA and are currently appearing on the spinoff series Love Island: Beyond The Villa, are the latest couple to face intense breakup rumors. If the digital trail is any indication, this might not just be a rough patch. It could be the end of their post-show relationship altogether. Instagram Clues Spark Split Speculation Pop Crave fired the first shot in the rumor war, posting on X (formerly Twitter) that JaNa Craig had not only unfollowed Kenny Rodriguez on Instagram, but also scrubbed all traces of their relationship from her feed. Every kiss, every cuddle, every poolside flirtation is gone. For fans who track Love Island couples like detectives on a case, this wasn't just suspicious. It was alarming. And the damage didn't stop there. According to fan sleuths, JaNa's villa ride-or-dies, Leah Kateb and Serena Page, also unfollowed Kenny in what appears to be a clear show of loyalty to their PPG (Pretty Pink Gang) girl. Leah and Serena were vocal about their support for JaNa throughout Season 6, and their coordinated social media distancing is reading loud and clear: something went down. The Real-Life Disconnect: Vegas vs. Dallas While social media says a lot, it's not the only red flag. Sources close to the couple have hinted that JaNa and Kenny's post-show realities may have started to drift apart. JaNa has been thriving in Las Vegas, fully leaning into her life as an influencer, content creator, and fashion ambassador. Kenny, on the other hand, has reportedly been considering a return to a full-time sales career in Dallas, a lifestyle that couldn't be further removed from JaNa's glammed-up world of events, brand trips, and camera-ready living. The logistical and emotional distance may have finally caught up with them. Fans Left in the Dark But Watching Closely What makes the rumored breakup even more awkward is the fact that JaNa and Kenny are still currently airing on Peacock's Love Island: Beyond The Villa, which was filmed before these breakup hints surfaced. The couple, who appeared to be in a stable if occasionally tense place during the spinoff's early episodes, are now being watched with an entirely different lens. What once felt like harmless drama, minor disagreements or differing opinions, could now read as the early unraveling of a relationship on life support. And for a fanbase known for emotionally investing in their favorite couples, it's an uncomfortable watch. 'It's giving PR disaster,' one fan posted on X'They need to drop a statement immediately or I'm going to lose my mind watching these next episodes,' another wrote A Sad Day for #JaNa Fans JaNa and Kenny had quickly become one of the most talked-about couples in Love Island USA history. With her sharp wit and undeniable screen presence and his grounded, boy-next-door charm, they seemed like the ideal post-villa match. But as past Love Island seasons have proved time and time again, what works in paradise doesn't always survive the plane ride home. And for all the fans still clinging to hope, the evidence keeps stacking up. If the unfollowing wasn't enough, if the photos disappearing wasn't enough, if the friend group exodus wasn't enough, then consider this: JaNa and Kenny were still interacting publicly on social media just days ago, as recently as Saturday, July 26, but even that seems to have come to a halt. Something shifted. Drastically. What's Next for JaNa & Kenny and the Show? Peacock's Love Island: Beyond The Villa drops new episodes weekly, meaning viewers are stuck in an odd time loop, watching a couple whose real-life status might already be finished play out the end of their 'happily ever after' on screen. If the breakup rumors are true, it poses a complicated question for the show's producers: Should they address it in real-time or let fans interpret the onscreen chemistry (or lack thereof) for themselves? As of now, no official comment has been made by JaNa, Kenny, or Peacock, but the silence is deafening. And in Love Island terms? That's rarely a good sign. The post BREAKUP ALERT? Mom's shocking nighttime routine for her kids has people divided: ‘I can't imagine growing up in this chaos'
They're a bunch of night owls. How someone chooses to parent their child is a personal choice — and one mom's approach has many people scratching their heads. It's typical for most young kids to have an early bath and bedtime schedule, but Emily Boazman chooses to do the complete opposite. Dinner time in the Boazman household is as late as 9:30 p.m. and bedtime stories take place close to midnight. Staying up late is something many kids can only dream of — but for Boazman's three homeschooled kids, who are 9, 7 and 3 — this is their norm. The stay-at-home mom is married to a district attorney who usually gets home from work on the late side. Once he's home — usually after 8 p.m. — is when the family will begin their wind-down routine for the night, which often includes an evening walk, followed by cooking dinner, cleaning up, Boazman's daughters getting their hair prepped for the next day, bathtime and then finally bedtime, which is usually a little after midnight, according to a viral video the mom posted with time stamps. 'They wake up just fine' — usually around 10:30 a.m.,' Boazman told Newsweek in an interview. 'I have to tell them to get up a few times but once they're out of bed, they're perfect for the rest of the day.' Boazman's untypical regimen for her family caught many by surprise in the comment section of her video. 'Omg, I would die if we were making food at 9pm. I'm thinking about bed at that time.' 'This is chaotic. I can't imagine growing up in this chaos.' 'This is my worst nightmare.' Yet, many others agreed with — and even related to — her logic. 'Thank God there is other families that don't make their kids go to bed at 7 and have a day routine I'm winging this thing called motherhood & life.' 'We do something similar! in bed by midnight. it's amazing because early mornings at the woooorst.' 'Why I homeschool…we get to decide our schedule and our lifestyle. We are night owls too.' Boazman isn't the only mom whose parenting style has raised some eyebrows. Jeri-Leah is a mom of four who doesn't believe in rules. She also posted a controversial video on social media where she explained that she never expects her kids to do chores or have any responsibilities. 'You don't have to tidy, I will do that. I don't mind. 'I'll put your clothes away, I'll wash your clothes. That's my job, I'm your mom; I'm gonna mother you; let me smother you.' Solve the daily Crossword
