Rubrik & Rackspace launch managed cyber recovery for clouds
The managed service, which brings together Rubrik's data protection and recovery capabilities with Rackspace's DevOps expertise, is positioned to simplify the process of restoring critical business workloads in public clouds within hours after an incident.
The announcement focuses on the increasing risks faced by organisations operating key workloads in public clouds, referencing the findings from Rubrik Zero Labs that 90% of global IT and security executives experienced cyber attacks within the past year. Organisations are said to face challenges such as limited visibility, inconsistent backup policies, slow recovery times, and fragmented tooling, particularly as their cloud environments grow more complex and distributed.
DK Sinha, President for Public Cloud at Rackspace Technology, commented: "Enterprises can no longer rely on traditional recovery methods in a cloud-first, threat-intensified world. To ensure recoverability in the public cloud, they must adopt a new approach that leverages cloud native tools, modern DevOps methodologies and trusted expertise. Through our partnership with Rubrik, Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service sets a new standard for cyber resilience of public cloud workloads."
The Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service uses principles such as Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering to manage the restoration of workloads across multiple cloud providers. The process begins with a professional services-led consultation, during which Rackspace experts work with customers to modernise their recovery architecture and codify specific workflows tailored to their environment. This is then transitioned into a fully managed service, which includes ongoing validation, optimisation and operational monitoring.
The service enables what is termed Recovery as Code—providing rapid, repeatable and auditable recovery workflows that align with modern DevOps practices. By combining Rubrik's immutable data architecture and AI-driven threat detection, the service ensures the recovery of clean data into secure environments, while minimising operational disruption.
Highlighting the partnership, Ghazal Asif, Vice President of Global Channels and Alliances at Rubrik, said: "Amidst the evolving complexities of multiple cloud environments, proactive cyber resilience is not a luxury but a necessity. Together, Rackspace and Rubrik offer a differentiated, engineering-led approach to cyber resilience. Specifically designed for complex, distributed cloud environments, our companies are at the forefront of safeguarding organisations against the rising tide of ransomware attacks in the realm of cloud and SaaS platforms."
Features of the Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service include proactive protection through continuous anomaly detection and threat monitoring, expert management of backup configuration and policies, cloud infrastructure management, and improved regulatory compliance through detailed reporting. The service also offers advisory and professional services covering everything from regulatory alignment to the deployment of automated workflows for recovery.
According to the companies, the fully managed and automated approach is intended to address key shortfalls in traditional recovery methods, particularly the time it takes to restore business-critical workloads and the dependence on manual processes that can delay recovery and increase risk.
The strategic partnership intends to deliver recovery services that allow businesses to better align with their IT and regulatory requirements, notably through the use of cloud-native tools and automated workflows for consistent backup and efficient data restoration.
The launch of Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service comes against a background of increasing threats to public cloud hosted workloads, with organisations under pressure to ensure their recovery capabilities are up to date and resilient.

Rubrik Develops ‘Undo' Button For AI Agent Mistakes
PALO ALTO, Calif. – August 12, 2025 – Rubrik, Inc. (NYSE: RBRK), the Security and AI company, today announced the launch of Agent Rewind, following the close of Rubrik's acquisition of Predibase. Agent Rewind, powered by Predibase AI infrastructure, will enable organisations to undo mistakes made by agentic AI by providing visibility into agents' actions and enabling enterprises to rewind those changes to applications and data. 'As companies consider investing in AI, they often don't take into account the mistakes that AI agents can and will make,' said Johnny Yu, Research Manager at IDC. 'Agentic AI introduces the concept of 'non-human error,' and as with its human counterpart, organisations should explore solutions that allow them to correct potentially catastrophic mistakes made by agentic AI.' "As AI agents gain autonomy and optimise for outcomes, unintended errors can lead to business downtime," said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. "Agent Rewind integrates Predibase's advanced AI infrastructure with Rubrik's recovery capabilities to enable enterprises to embrace agentic AI confidently. Today's organisations will now have a clear process to trace, audit, and safely rewind undesired AI actions." AI agents possess significant potential, yet, like humans, they are prone to mistakes that result in unintended business disruption. Recent incidents of AI agent errors highlight a spectrum of situations ranging from technical malfunctions and legal issues to even the deletion of entire production databases. A recent study found that AI agents are frequently becoming disoriented, choosing incorrect shortcuts, and struggling to complete even simple multi-step tasks, revealing critical flaws that undermine their reliability and effectiveness. Agent Rewind makes previously opaque AI actions visible, auditable, and reversible, creating an audit trail and immutable snapshots that facilitate safe rollback. Current observability tools only show what happened, but not why or how to reverse high-risk actions. "Agent Rewind will close the loop on what happened, why it happened, and how to undo it," said Chad Pallett, Chief Information Security Officer at BioIVT, a global research partner and biospecimen solutions provider for drug and diagnostic development. "When using AI, there is a need for observability and secure rollback. Rubrik and Predibase will provide not just data safety and model speed, but also AI recoverability. In a market craving true observability and remediation, Agent Rewind is the answer I've been waiting for." When AI goes awry, Agent Rewind offers: Context-Enriched Visibility: Surfaces agent behaviour, tool use, and impact whilecontextualising each action, mapping it back to its root cause – from prompts to plans to tools – to enable precise recovery when something goes wrong. Safe Rollback: Uses Rubrik Security Cloud to rewind what changed, whether that's files, databases, configurations, or repositories. Broad Compatibility: Will integrate seamlessly with a wide range of platforms, APIs, and agent builders, including Agentforce, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and Amazon Bedrock Agents, and will be compatible with any custom AI agent. To gain further insight into Agent Rewind and Rubrik's perspective on the challenges and opportunities of AI Agents, read more on Rubrik's blog or see a demo here. Sophos & Rubrik launch integrated Microsoft 365 backup service
Sophos and Rubrik have announced a partnership to deliver a Microsoft 365 cyber resilience solution aimed at protecting businesses from the risks of ransomware, account compromise, insider threats, and data loss across popular Microsoft applications. The new solution, Sophos M365 Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik, marks the first Managed Detection and Response (MDR)-optimised Microsoft 365 backup and recovery service to be fully integrated within Sophos Central, the company's security operations platform. It is designed to allow IT and cybersecurity teams to access a unified global platform for enhanced cyber defence and recovery operations. Integration with Sophos Central The service is intended as a new add-on for Sophos' more than 75,000 MDR and XDR customers, enabling the rapid and secure restoration of Microsoft 365 data in the event of accidental deletion or malicious activity. The solution integrates Rubrik's SaaS-based data protection directly with the Sophos Central platform, which assimilates over 350 different telemetry sources from endpoint, cloud, network, identity, email, and business applications. Joe Levy, Chief Executive Officer at Sophos, commented: "We are reshaping what it means to stay operational in a world shaped by constant digital disruption. This is the future of cyber resilience: an intelligent, adaptive partnership that ensures organizations remain secure, responsive, and uninterrupted. By combining Sophos' prevention-first approach with Rubrik's unwavering recovery capabilities, we empower businesses to withstand attacks and maintain continuity, even under pressure." The new offering is underpinned by a prevention-first strategy combined with Rubrik's recovery technologies to address the increasing frequency and sophistication of security incidents impacting business continuity. Features and functionality Sophos M365 Backup and Recovery facilitates the restoration of data for SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams users. The integration with Sophos Central aims to streamline protection and recovery without the need for additional tools. The platform is detailed as leveraging deep learning, custom large language models (LLMs), and frontier models to better detect and respond to threats across a wide attack surface. Bipul Sinha, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman, and Co-founder of Rubrik, said: "The reality of today's threat landscape demands a holistic approach to cyber resilience. With AI-enabled attacks and sophisticated breaches on the rise, organizations need more than just prevention; they need the ability to recover rapidly and reliably. Our partnership with Sophos delivers this critical capability directly within a platform security teams already use and trust, raising the bar for Microsoft 365 resilience." The joint solution promises immutable backups isolated using air-gapped storage, WORM (Write Once Read Many) locks, and encryption keys controlled by the customer. Multi-factor authentication and other measures are said to prevent unauthorised tampering, even if credentials are compromised. Customers can restore Microsoft 365 components to original or alternate user accounts, including those that are inactive, to support diverse recovery scenarios. The product also automates protection across the Microsoft 365 estate by discovering new users, sites, and mailboxes, applying Entra ID-based policies, and supporting delegated administration - all managed from the Sophos Central interface. Addressing the threat landscape Research highlighted by both companies signals an urgent requirement for reinforced Microsoft 365 data defences. According to The State of Ransomware report from Sophos, almost half of ransomware-impacted organisations paid ransoms to recover data, but only 54% relied on backups for restoration. Other studies cited reveal that 60% of Microsoft 365 tenants have faced account takeovers and 81% suffered email compromise, exposing businesses to significant operational risk when retention policies or admin credentials are breached. Both Sophos MDR and XDR customers will have access to this backup and recovery feature, structured to close the gap between prevention and recovery for critical business data stored in cloud environments. The aim is to provide what the companies articulate as speed, granularity, and reliability when restoring information following security incidents. The collaboration is part of Sophos and Rubrik's stated commitment to help organisations manage risk confidently and recover from breaches or data loss with minimal disruption. This service will be available through Sophos' channel partner network in the coming months.
