silver medal
in the
50m rifle prone
event, becoming the first Indian to open the medal account for the country in this prestigious tournament.
Karmakar's performance was commendable, as he aggregated a score of 626.7 after 60 shots, narrowly missing the gold medal by a mere 0.3 points. The gold medal was clinched by Sweden's
Jesper Johansson
, while
Griffin Lake
from the USA claimed the bronze with a score of 624.6.
Adriyan is son of Joydeep Karmakar, a former Indian rifle shooter who won a silver medal at the 2010 ISSF World Cup and narrowly missed a podium finish at the 2012 London Olympics, finishing fourth in the 50m rifle prone event.
Notably, Adriyan's achievement holds significance as he has previously represented India at the junior world championships but had never participated in a world cup event before.
His performance not only showcased his shooting prowess but also set a new
junior national record
in the 50m rifle prone event.
Among the other Indian participants, 15-year-old Rohit Kanyan finished 12th with a score of 620.2, while Vedant Nitin Waghmare secured the 35th position with a score of 614.4.

Jaipur: The RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship got underway at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium Hall here on Monday. Principal sports secretary Dr Neeraj K Pawan (Sports and Youth Affairs), RD Baheti and Pradeep Baheti inaugurated the week-long annual tournament. Neeraj K Pawan and Pradeep Baheti played a rally to mark the inauguration in the presence of players and Jaipur District Badminton Association officials.
