Watch: Donald Trump's surprise FaceTime call to journeyman golfer after win on President's course
Forrest's victory was at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen and, shortly after collecting his trophy, he was being congratulated by the owner and US president over FaceTime.
'I watched it... he's some player. I look forward to playing with him – in fact I will play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane,' Trump said in the call, shared on X by the DP World Tour.
'What a round of golf. What three rounds of brilliant golf. It's a great honour you won, thank you very much.'
Forrest, who lifted his maiden DP World Tour title at St Andrews four years and two days ago, took control of windy conditions over the weekend but saw his three-shot overnight advantage trimmed to two after Todd Clements' birdie on the opening hole.
However, when Forrest birdied the fourth and Clements carded a triple-bogey eight at the same hole, the Scot led by five and never looked back.
The 32-year-old world No 294, who double-bogeyed the last, added two more birdies and a dropped shot in a closing 72 to finish with an eight-under-par total.
'It's amazing, just speechless,' Forrest said. 'I think it is the same week as I won four years ago on the calendar, so just amazing. That must say something about this week and being at home.
'I just can't believe it. It's been such a tough year on the golf course. It's just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels out of nowhere.
'It's just that old chestnut that one week can turn things around and it has.'
Joe Dean nervelessly parred the last to claim solo second at four under, with John Parry one shot further behind alongside Norway's Kristoffer Reitan and Denmark's Jacob Skov Olesen.
Jordan Smith finished sixth at two under, while Clements, Andy Sullivan and Finland's Oliver Lindell were a further shot adrift – the only nine players to finish the tournament under par.

Kiara Romero wins Mark H. McCormack Medal as world's top female amateur golfer
Kiara Romero, who's set to begin her third season at Oregon this fall after making a run to the quarterfinals of the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur, has been named winner of the Mark H. McCormack medal, the United States Golf Association and R&A announced Wednesday. The McCormack medal is given to the leading female player in the 2025 World Amateur Golf Ranking. Lottie Woad won the award last year. Romero receives exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Women's Open at Riviera Country Club and the 2026 AIG Women's Open at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in England, provided she remains amateur. Through two seasons at Oregon, she has risen to be arguably the best player in school history. As a sophomore, she was one of the finalists for the Annika Award after winning the Big 10 individual championship and the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional. The 2023 U.S. Girls' Junior champion also set a record for lowest final round by an amateur in a U.S. Women's Open, shooting 5-under 67 at Erin Hills earlier this year. 'On behalf of the USGA, we congratulate Kiara on this prestigious honor,' John Bodenhamer, chief championships officer of the USGA, said in a release. 'Kiara's commitment to the game is evident, with her first USGA championship victory already among her lengthy list of accolades. 'I'm fighting for my place'
Southampton defender Nathan Wood said he is "fighting for his place" in Saints' Championship line-up after their 1-0 victory over Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup. The 23-year-old was on the bench for Southampton's dramatic 2-1 opening-day win against Wrexham, but made the starting XI and helped to keep a clean sheet against the Cobblers. "I feel fit, I'm happy to be injury free," Wood told BBC Radio Solent. "Now I'm just fighting for my place. We've got plenty of talent in the squad. We've got two XIs that are good, that can play in the Championship week-in, week-out. "It's about being consistent every day - and playing on nights like this, giving it everything I can. That's all I can do." Wood made 11 Premier League appearances for the Saints last season, including an eight-game run in December and January.
