This Week in Golf: Lottie Woad's LPGA debut and final DP World Tour event highlights
It seems to have come to that time of year, where things are being decided in the world of golf in so many areas, ultimately deciding where players compete in 2026. This week is the final event on the Closing Swing of the DP World Tour – the Danish Golf Championship. Recommended For You Leading the Swing is Scotland's Grant Forrest, winner of the recent NEXO Championship at Trump International, Aberdeen in Scotland. The leader on Sunday will receive a Swing Bonus of $200,000 plus entry to all the tournaments in the second half of the season. Next week on the DP World Tour is the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo – the final event for qualifying for the top 6 players for Team Europe for The Ryder Cup. It is also the final Individual Event for LIV Golf in Indianapolis with the usual $25 million purse for the 54 holes; these numbers are seemingly becoming the norm and now do not seem to surprise us. Next week in Michigan, the Team Event will see the LIV Golf season come to a close. It is remarkable to think that $28 million will be shared out in Bonus money in LIV Golf on Sunday in addition to the $25 million event purse, and the following week $50 million will be shared amongst the 13 teams, with $14 million to the winning team, $8 million to the runners-up and $6 million to the third team. We wonder if they are getting nervous? On the LPGA, the Standard Portland Classic field is headlined by the likes of Nelly Korda, Minjee Lee, Lottie Woad, Jeeno Thitikul and more. This is set to be a 144-player field played out over four days, with this event marking the LPGA's return to the Pacific Northwest. England's Lottie Woad will be making her LPGA professional debut; she is already number 20 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. Finally, there are just four remaining events on the Korn Ferry Tour. The top 75 players will compete in the Korn Ferry Championship, with four more qualifying events remaining on the calendar. 'Crazy Game': Grant Forrest's home soil triumph, Trump call, and season turnaround
Scotland's Grant Forrest sealed his second DP World Tour title at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, calling golf 'a crazy game' after a season-saving victory, capped by a congratulatory FaceTime from course owner and U.S. President Donald Trump. 'It's a crazy game,' Forrest said, shaking his head in disbelief after lifting the Nexo Championship trophy on home turf at Trump International Golf Links. - The 32-year-old Scot's second DP World Tour victory came in front of family, friends, and a raucous local crowd, and was followed by a FaceTime call from none other than the course's owner, U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump, calling from his course near Washington D.C., told Forrest, 'I have very good players, but they're not like you, Grant. We all watched you play. What a round of golf. 'That course is big, it's strong and tough. Your swing is great. And it's a great honour you won.' Trump said on the DP World Tour website. Forrest's win, sealed despite a double bogey on the 18th, vaulted him up the Race to Dubai rankings, secured his DP World Tour card for next season, and put him at the top of the Closing Swing Rankings with a shot at a $200,000 bonus if he stays there after next week's Danish Golf Championship. 'It's amazing, just speechless,' Forrest said. 'One week can turn things around, and it sure has. .Tough day today, didn't have my best at all, a lot of good par saves on the front nine, and I was pretty nervous down the last, but yeah, can't believe it. "It's been such a tough year on the course; it's a crazy game that you can come out and do this,' he added. "I was way down the rankings heading into this week, and while I had started to play a bit better, I was very much on the bubble. "But one week can turn things around, and it sure has." The victory came exactly four years after his first tour win at the 2021 Hero Open in St Andrews, further cementing his reputation for delivering big moments in Scotland. He also pocketed a $10,000 bonus for setting the course record, a six-under 66 on Friday. Forrest now heads to Denmark with momentum, confidence, and the knowledge that in golf, fortunes can change fast.

Donald Trump praises Grant Forrest for 'brilliant' win on Trump-owned course
Donald Trump congratulated Grant Forrest on his "brilliant golf" after a four-shot win in a Scottish Championship tournament played on a course owned by the President of the United States on Sunday. It was the second time Forrest, a 32-year-old Scot, enjoyed a professional title success on home soil, with his victory on the Trump International Golf Links coming almost four years to the day since he won his maiden European Tour title at St. Andrews. Forrest held a three-shot lead heading into Sunday's final round and maintained control in windy conditions in Aberdeen. But when Forrest birdied the fourth, and Clements carded a triple-bogey at the same hole, the Scot led by five shots. Forrest, the world No. 294, double-bogeyed the last hole, but by then he had added two more birdies and a dropped shot in a closing 72 to finish with an 8-under-par total. "It's amazing, just speechless," Forrest said. "I think it is the same week as I won four years ago on the calendar so just amazing, that must say something about this week and being at home. "I just can't believe it. It's been such a tough year on the golf course. It's just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels out of nowhere. "It's just that old chestnut that one week can turn things around and it has."

Scotland's Grant Forrest was congratulated by US President Donald Trump as he eased to victory on home soil for the second time in his career following a four-shot success at the Nexo Championship. The 32-year-old, who won his maiden DP World Tour title at St Andrews almost exactly four years ago, took control of windy conditions over the weekend at Trump International Golf Links to assert his dominance. Forrest was congratulated with a FaceTime call by Trump after clinching victory on his course. Posted on the DP World Tour X feed, Trump, who was on the golf course himself in Washington, chatted to Forrest for around a minute. The American President said: 'He is some player. I look forward to playing with him. In fact I'll play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane! 'I watched you play and what a round of golf. Your swing is great and it's a great honour that you won. Thank you very much.' Holding a three-shot advantage heading into the final round, Forrest saw his lead trimmed to two after Englishman Todd Clements' birdie on the opening hole. However, when he birdied the fourth and Clements carded a triple-bogey eight at the same hole, the Scot led by five and never looked back. The world No 294, who had the luxury of double-bogeying the last, posted a final-round 72 to win by four shots from Englishman Joe Dean. 'It's amazing, I'm just speechless,' said Forrest. 'I think it's the same week as I won four years ago on the calendar, so it's just amazing. That must say something about this week and being at home. 'I just can't believe it. It's been such a tough year on the golf course. It's just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels like out of nowhere.'
