Key Kairat Almaty star in Celtic sweat amid UK visa issue
But Kairat have a problem with their Russian international defender Sorokin, who will need a visa to enter the UK next week.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the UK government put in place a set of sanctions against the nation and its citizens and the Home Office only issued visas for Russian and Belarusian tennis players for Wimbledon after months of delay and they had to sign a 'declaration of neutrality' to be allowed entry.

Kairat also have two players in their squad from Belarus - Valery Gromyko and Alyaksandr Martynovich.
Now Kairat will have to apply for special permission to get the Government to fast-track his visa application, but he's hopeful he will be allowed to play at Parkhead.
He said: "The general director of Kairat assured me that everything will be approved and the visa will be ready.
"I hope there are no problems with this and I am able to play in Scotland."
And the 29-year-old ex-Rubin Kazan star is determined to make history as Kairat aim to become the first team from Kazakhstan to reach the Champions League proper.
He said: "It is clear that we are not the favourites against Celtic.
"But that is why it will be easier for us. We will fight and do everything to advance. And how will it turn out? Time will tell.
"We want the world to sit up and take notice of Kairat Almaty."

Aston Villa punished by Premier League as statement issued over fifth breach of rules
Aston Villa have received a punishment for the new Premier League season after breaching the division's rules in the clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park last term Aston Villa have been fined £125,000 after breaching Premier League rules over the multiball system for the fifth time, with the club now banned from using it for the first three games of the new season. In total Villa have been fined £330,000 since the beginning of the 2024/25 season for consistently misusing the system, which is designed to keep matches flowing as balls are quickly thrown onto the pitch following stoppages in play. In the club's final home match of the season against Tottenham Hotspur, as they pushed for Champions League qualification for the second season in succession. Goals from Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara earned victory over Spurs but the club have been judged to have used the multiball set-up incorrectly. In addition to the fine, the Villans are now prohibited from operating the multiball system at its first three home matches of this season against Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Fulham. That follows the club being punished for indiscretions against Manchester United, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Brentford last season in addition to Spurs. Against the Lilywhites, Villa went against guidance in a number of ways. Ball Assistants provided replacement balls from the cones directly to Villa's players for throw-ins and corners when not permitted to do so. Additional ball assistants were positioned behind the goal that Aston Villa were attacking, and were in possession of additional balls to provide the Midlands side's players with ahead of corner kicks. In contrast, at the end the opposition were attacking, no additional assistants were in place and the correct number of balls were located in the area. And on one occasion a ball assistant threw an additional ball onto the pitch at the same time as Tottenham's goalkeeper was collecting the match ball in order to restart the game via a goal kick. This happened despite the club twice seeing concerns over the multiball system raised around the game. Ahead of the match, the match delegate and referee brought up the need to adhere to guidance and implement the correct application. Match officials then raised concerns over this to Villa's multiball supervisor at half-time. The Premier League said in a statement: "The Premier League has entered into a sanction agreement with Aston Villa FC after the club accepted it had breached the Premier League 's multiball rules. First introduced in the 2022/23 season, the multiball system is intended to maintain the flow of League matches, reduce delays and enhance the fan experience. "Clubs are required to adopt a multiball system at every League match and adherence to the relevant rules and guidance is of vital importance to maintain consistency and, crucially, to ensure that home clubs do not gain a competitive advantage through their misuse of the system. "The accepted breach was the club's fifth of the multiball rules during the 2024/25 season. The club will pay a £125,000 fine and will be prohibited from operating the multiball system in its first three home League matches of the 2025/26 season."

Ben Doak nears Bournemouth transfer switch as Scotland star faces up to Liverpool reality
The Cherries are set to pay the Reds £25million to land the winger just three years after his £600,000 move from Celtic Ben Doak is close to sealing a £25million transfer switch to Bournemouth, according to a report. The former Celtic youngster has been linked with a host of English Premier League clubs this summer but looks to have settled on the Cherries as his next destination, according to the Guardian. Doak looked set for a bright Anfield future under Jurgen Klopp, who tipped him for big things after bringing him into the first team fold. However, Arne Slot's arrival saw him fall down the pecking order and he spent last season on loan at Middlesborough. Slot has spent big this summer, bringing in Hugo Ekitike while chasing a record-breaking deal for Newcastle rebel Alexander Isak. Mo Salah's status on Merseyside meant Doak was going to struggle to get a first team look in and it's seemed inevitable for a while that he would have to move on in order to get the game time he needs. Now he's set to make the move to the South Coast - but could be back at Anfield immediately with Bournemouth facing the champions in the opening game of the Premier League season this evening. , but a move back to Glasgow always seemed unlikely given the number of English top flight clubs keen to land Doak. We're only a few weeks into the season and already we have beef! BANTER BHOYS Celtic hit back at Livingston with brutal comeback after being trolled by Premiership rivals CELTIC and Livingston. The online Premiership sparring match that you didn't expect to see this season. 3 Celtic Park with the away section visible in the corner Credit: SNS Celtic are preparing to host the Livi Lions on Saturday August 23 in the league at Celtic Park. Ahead of the match, it's customary for the visiting team to post information about the stadium and notify their supporters of the matchday travel plans - and to alert them for when tickets go on sale. Livingston shared a post on Twitter (X) to let the fans know that tickets for the match went on sale on Thursday afternoon. They said: "Tickets for our trip to Glasgow against Celtic are now available to purchase. "Tickets are available to purchase from reception, & there will be no sales on the day at Celtic Park." However, the post included a picture of the infamous pole that restricts the away support's view at Celtic Park, something that didn't go unnoticed by fans. The not-so-subtle dig was also picked up by Celtic's supporter liaison officer, who responded with a jab of their own. They wrote: "You forgot to include Supporter Parking info," alongside a picture of a single empty parking space - suggesting that the Livi travelling support wouldn't be in high numbers. Livingston's admin took the comment in their stride however. They replied: "Thanks for indirectly providing it. Will pass it on to the fan for the four of them." FOUR new Celtic signings could be on the way but 'waiting game' could risk it all Other fans lapped up the interaction. A Rangers fan said: "Celtic being bodied again by Livingston is lovely stuff." While a Celtic fan said: "We need more of this nonsense in Scottish football tbh. Fair play lads. Hope we win 100-0 and send your carpet pitch back to the small time." 3 Livingston's original post on Twitter (X) Credit: LIVINGSTON FC/TWITTER (x) 3 And Celtic's reply...
