Playing pregnant superhero in Fantastic Four was a great honour

Vanessa Kirby has described portraying a pregnant superhero in Marvel's upcoming film The Fantastic Four: First Steps as a 'great honour'.
The 37-year-old actress, who is currently expecting her first child, stars as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman in the 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic reboot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The film follows Marvel's First Family as they defend Earth from the cosmic threat of Galactus and his mysterious herald, the Silver Surfer.
Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, alongside Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The film explores the team's origin story. Originally astronauts, the four are forever changed after an experimental space flight exposes them to cosmic rays, granting them extraordinary superhuman powers.
At its core, the story is rooted in family, with Sue and Reed preparing to welcome their first child.

Kirby, who won a Bafta for portraying Princess Margaret in The Crown, said she found it 'revolutionary' to have a mother at the centre of the family who was also part of the superhero team.
'When I first started talking about Sue, I was already so passionate about her,' she told the PA news agency.
'It was so exciting to me, this idea of having a pregnant superhero, a working mother. Even in the shooting of it, it was surreal because I had this pregnancy bump, but I was so included in everything.
'It was very daunting. I really cared and it's been a great honour to play her. I know that I'm just one of many that's kind of got to know her over the years.'

She added that she loved the blend of the ordinary and the extraordinary in the film: 'This was such a combination of domesticity where Reed was smelling Sue's socks, or Sue was brushing her teeth and then we'd be in the intergalactic, epic cosmos. That, in a way, was the experience we had.'
Pascal credited director Matt Shakman with helping him navigate the emotional journey of Reed Richards.
'As a father, the only way he (Reed) knows how to handle that is by trying to baby-proof the world rather than be present for the experience,' the 50-year-old American-Chilean actor said.
'Matt really guided me through that, especially since I'm not a father — I can only imagine what it's like.

'My favourite thing about it (playing Reed) was that this person, so brilliant, so at ease solving the most complex scientific equations, still struggles to grasp the far more complicated equations of relationships, family and love.'
Shakman, known for directing WandaVision, said The Fantastic Four is a deeply personal film for him.
'It's about parenthood and marriage, it's about all these things so many of us relate to,' he said. 'Because we all come from families and that's what the Fantastic Four is.'
Shakman is encouraging even non-Marvel fans to see the film, noting that audiences do not need any prior knowledge of the franchise to enjoy it.

'You don't need to have seen any other Marvel movies to come see this movie,' added Shakman.
'They're the only superheroes in this world. There are no Easter eggs to other Marvel movies.'
A previous Fantastic Four film came out in 1994, followed by a reboot in 2005 starring Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis.
They all returned in 2007 for Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, in which they learned they were not the only superpowered beings in the universe.
In 2015, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B Jordan and Jamie Bell starred in another Fantastic Four movie and animated TV series based on the comics have aired throughout the years.
Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in UK cinemas on July 24th.

Brady Bunch star Susan Olsen doesn't look like this anymore as she is spotted on rare outing in LA

The Brady Bunch star Susan Olsen was seen on a rare public outing in LA recently - more than five decades after shooting to fame in the show. The 63-year-old actress - who played Cindy Brady from 1969 to 1974 - looked nearly unrecognizable when she stepped out to pick up her mail. Olsen put on a casual display in a black, graphic T-shirt with burgundy red shorts. Still sporting platinum blonde hair with bangs, she was spotted driving her white SUV. Her outing comes shortly after she revealed she almost died while filming the pilot episode for The Brady Bunch in the late 60s. She also recently opened up about the one gripe she had with playing the character of Cindy, the youngest Brady child of the bunch. Appearing on The Real Brady Bros podcast earlier this year, where she also revealed she was gravely injured while filming the pilot, she said she didn't appreciate playing a dumbed down character. Chatting with former co-stars Barry Williams and Christopher Knight, who played her TV brothers, she looked back on a scene from the pilot episode that illustrated Cindy's dense mind. In the episode, Cindy and sisters Marcia and Jan talk to their mom Carol ahead of her wedding. Carol says she feels butterflies, to which the youngest Brady replies, 'Are you sleeping with your mouth open, mommy?' 'That's just how my career was and it was something I had to accept,' Olsen said about her tendency to play dull roles. Williams, 70, weighed in: 'Do you understand that you were the cutest person in the world? You're just adorable.' The 63-year-old actress looked nearly unrecognizable when she stepped out in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning And 67-year-old Knight added that the former child star Susan had a 'doll face.' Williams also said that he and Knight were aware that Olsen was 'a little bit uncomfortable with the nature' of her character. 'You're so much smarter than the character and you're so much edgier than your character. But here it is right there. You're saying the most idiotic thing imaginable,' he observed. During the same interview, Olsen also has revealed that a grave accident could have killed her while she filmed the pilot for the iconic series in the late 1960s. She recounted being left with a swollen face after lighting equipment fell directly onto her. 'My eyes were black. I mean, I had two black eyes. My nose was swollen. My face was swollen,' the actress said on the rewatch podcast. The incident happened the day before the cast gathered to film the pilot episode in 1969. Just seven years old at the time, Olsen had been getting her makeup done when she was struck. She shared the story with former costars Barry Williams and Christopher Knight, and she noted that she wished her family had sued the studio for the accident. 'The saddest news is that we didn't sue Paramount, because I would have made more off of that than the show,' Olsen said candidly. 'But I came to work the next day. Florence [Henderson] was the first one to see me. She's like, "You make sure everybody sees her." And my mom was like, "Oh, yes, I will." Because everybody was trying to say, "It didn't really hit her. She's fine."' The actress continued, 'I looked like I was in a horror film. And then everybody knew, yes, I had gotten hurt, and I had gotten hurt very badly.'

Hulk Hogan's divided family reveal how they plan to heal from estranged WWE icon's death at 71

The estranged family of WWE icon Hulk Hogan have revealed how they plan to heal after his tragic death. The wrestling legend died at the age of 71 last month after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida - with tributes quickly pouring in for the WWE icon. One of those tributes included a candid statement from his daughter Brooke, who opened up on her troubled relationship with the WWE icon in the wake of his death. By the time Hogan died, he had gone years without speaking to Brooke, 37, and, according to her partner, had 'no interest' in meeting his daughter's twins. Despite the fractured relationship, the passing of the WWE icon hit hard for Hogan's estranged family and now they have revealed how they plan to deal with his death. Brooke's husband, Steven Oleksy, told People: 'We believe family is created, and through these trying times, great people have come into our life or come back into our life, and it's brought us some great relationships and a great support system that we look at as family'. In January, the couple welcomed their twins, Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene, whom Oleksy has called 'absolute bundles of joy.' He continued: 'I'm looking forward to getting back and shifting our focus on our own family, and just taking the lessons that we've learned through these situations and just incorporating them into our own family and making sure that our son and daughter feel the love that we have for them each and every day'. In the days that followed Hogan's death, Oleksy revealed that he did in fact try to resolve their feud but that attempt was rebuffed by the WWE icon. According to People, Oleksy said: 'I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest.' 'She [Brooke] was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. 'No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife,' he said. Meanwhile, according to Us Weekly back in April, Oleksy had been 'proactively trying to foster peace for years'. The outlet claims that he had requested a 'man-to-man conversation' with Hogan but his efforts were rebuffed by the wrestling icon. The report quotes a source close to Oleksy and Brooke who claimed that the couple's 'hurt is very, very heavy'. Oleksy offered a public defense of his wife at the time, saying he wouldn't 'stand by and allow anyone to continue to hurt' Brooke. Hulk welcomed Brooke as well as son Nick, 35, with ex-wife Linda - whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later tied the knot with Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 until their divorce in 2021. Two years later, the WWE legend said 'I do' to Sky Daily and the pair were married up until his death on Thursday. Brooke and her father last spoke nearly two years ago in September 2023 only weeks before he married his third wife Sky. On that call, Brooke expressed love and concern for her father - telling him that he shouldn't be working so hard due to his declining health. Despite her pleas for him to enjoy more of his life, those requests fell on deaf ears. The pair didn't speak again. Despite their fractured relationship, Brooke was recently left frustrated after being snubbed of an invite from the WWE as they paid tribute to her late father. 'For those of you giving me c*** for not attending my Dad's tributes, @WWE did not extend an invite,' she wrote on her Instagram story Wednesday. Daily Mail has contacted WWE for comment. Meanwhile, her brother Nick honored his 'best friend' and father in a heartbreaking statement as he joined the WWE's poignant tribute ahead of Monday Night Raw. He looked visibly emotional as he stood alongside WWE stars past and present for a 10-bell salute to his father. His wife Tana Lea was also seen wiping away tears after joining her husband on stage for the event in Detroit.

Kelce family in mourning as Ed Kelce's partner dies

Ed Kelce, the father of Travis and Jason, has announced the death of his partner, Maureen Maguire. Kelce shared an obituary on his Facebook page on Saturday afternoon announcing that she had passed away on August 1 at the age of 74. The obituary describes Kelce as Maguire's 'beloved friend' but she has repeatedly been referred to as Ed's girlfriend amid the family's whirlwind rise to fame over the last three years. Once, according to an interview Ed gave to the LA Times, she even jokingly told Taylor Swift 'hey, that's my boyfriend' when the singer took a selfie with Travis and Jason's father at an NFL game. 'She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch,' the obituary said. 'Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.' Ed and Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis and Jason, went their separate ways after nearly 25 years of marriage but have remained friends as their sons have become two of the most famous names in the NFL. In 2023, the Super Bowl was renamed 'the Kelce Bowl' due to the brothers facing each other on opposing teams when the Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs beat Jason's Philadelphia Eagles. Later that year, the family were propeled into unprecedented levels of fame when Travis and Taylor went public with their romance. Donna was at Kansas City Chiefs traning camp on Saturday, watching Travis preparing for the new season. The Chiefs start the new season in Brazil on September 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
