A BBC comedy star sparked concern after cancelling a string of public appearances due to a 'medical situation'.

Chris Barrie, 65, who played the holographic Arnold Rimmer, has cancelled upcoming public appearances owing to a "medical situation".
Over the weekend, the actor had been set to appear at London Comic Con.
Chris would have joined co-stars Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn and Hattie Hayridge.
Posting on his website, the star shared: "Hello everyone.
"I'm going to be brief, but over the last week I have been dealing with a medical situation which I am only just beginning to get my head around.
'In the light of this I shall be attending no more events over the summer and into the autumn.
"Updates on all this will be issued as and when.'
Continuing, Chris confirmed he would be keeping one date in his calendar for the time being.
Namely, his November 9 appearance at Newcastle comedy event Scarborough Unleashed.
He explained: "In the meantime I shall leave Scarborough on the itinerary for now and will look forward to returning there in the early winter.

Red Dwarf follows the adventures of a group of oddball characters who are stranded on a spaceship three million years in the future.
The show's main character Dave Lister wakes up after three million years in suspended animation to find out the rest of the crew on his spaceship were killed in an accident.

Last year, it was announced the core cast would reunite at Comic Con Scotland in Edinburgh.

The sci-fi comedy also scooped prestigious honours, including an International Emmy and multiple British Comedy Awards. The series ran until 1999 before being revived on digital channel Dave, with its final episode airing in 2020. As well as Red Dwarf, Chris also starred as Hilary, Angelina Jolie's butler in Tomb Raider. He also plated Gordon Brittas, the most irritating manager in The Brittas Empire which aired on BBC One as one of the principal male voice artists on Spitting Image. At the beginning of 2004 Chris also presented on Discovery Channel's Massive Engines. Chris Barrie's Massive Machines followed in late '04 and Massive Speed was completed in 2006.

Friday, July 4, 2025, will go down as one of the biggest nights in British music history as Oasis graced a live stage for the first time in 16 years. The Mancunian Britpop heroes formed in Burnage in the early 1990s and quickly became—for better or worse—the defining band of their generation. But singer-songwriter brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had a famously frosty relationship, and the band shockingly split when Noel quit in August 2009. After waging a cold war in the press for more than a decade, the two siblings kissed and made up in 2024 and announced a string of live dates for summer 2025. The Oasis Live 25 Tour kicked off in Cardiff on Friday night, with the 75,000 tickets sold at the Principality Stadium among the hottest in the world right now. But it's not just regular folks who've descended on the Welsh capital for a bit of the action—half a dozen famous faces have been spotted in the crowd as well. 📝| 'Louis is a huge Oasis fan and has been extremely open about failing to secure tickets in the queue. Danny opted for dark sunglasses and a moustache to keep his identity a secret, but fans still managed to spot him walking along a road near the stadium. And it seems he set a bit of a trend, as fellow Premier League boss Nuno Espirito Santo, in charge at Nottingham Forest, was also rumoured by The Sun to be in attendance on Friday. At the gig, Oasis rolled back the years by playing some of their biggest hits, with some fans in Cardiff reckoning Liam sounded 'biblical' and better than ever. @ShaneRyanOneil exclaimed: 'Liam hasn't sounded this good in years. Biblical,' while @Jahvasconcelos said: 'Liam's voice sounds absolutely BIBLICAL. Unbeliveable.' More Trending The two brothers held hands as they walked onto the stage in Cardiff, with their gesture being greeted by huge cheers from the over 70,000-strong crowd. Bang on 8:15pm, Noel and Liam launched into their tune Hello, which opened their second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? all those years ago. After this, they went into Acquiesce – which originally appeared as the B-side to Oasis' first number-one single Some Might Say, in 1995. The words 'This is not a drill' appeared on the screen in giant letters, with the crowd—decked out in Mancunian bucket hats, sunglasses, and Oasis merch—sending cups flying by jumping in the air.
