Brian Cox says new 007: Road To A Million series is ‘infinitely more dramatic'
Watching over them is actor Cox, 79, who returns as The Controller, the stern and sardonic taskmaster.
Cox said: 'It's a different series from the first one. There's more interaction between me and the contestants, which I think is a great thing and a great improvement.
'To me, that works incredibly well and I'm very excited by that. It's also infinitely more Bond-related.
'It's infinitely more dramatic than it was the last time.
'Not only is it physically demanding but they're exposing themselves to scrutiny constantly, and that's tough. I'm not sure that's something I would particularly like to do. I have respect for the contestants, because they put themselves in that frame of mind.'
The new eight-part series will also see some format changes to increase the stakes and introduce new elements of competition, strategy and drama.
From scaling towers in Bangkok to wreck diving with sharks in the Bahamas, the second series will take contestants around the world with episodes in Thailand, Austria and Mexico – each location coming straight out of a Bond movie.
Competing against each other, the two slowest duos on each mission must face off in the Killer Question, an immersive, high-tension question that will always see one couple eliminated.
Cox added: 'The relationships of the people in the show, when they're under a certain scrutiny, they behave in a certain kind of way, and that is quite moving.
'It can be incredibly touching to see their individual struggles, which is slightly separate from the challenges on the show and the competition element, but it's about how they've come to the show and where they're coming from generally in life.'
The second series of 007: Road To A Million will be released on Prime Video on August 22.

Daniel previously insisted that the iconic spy shouldn't be played by a female actress because they deserve their own roles that haven't been written for men. 'Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?' Pierce has also shifted his position on the notion, after previously telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2019 that it was time to 'put a woman up there' and declaring a female Bond would be 'exciting' and 'exhilarating'. However, this year he made a sharp U-turn, telling Saga magazine: 'Oh, I think it has to be a man. 'I'm so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character. I adore the world of James Bond.' While Barbara has ruled out the possibility the amorous spy could ever be played by a woman, after previously declaring that 'anything is possible' when it came to the race and gender of future Bonds. In 2018, she sang a different tune, insisting: 'Bond is male. He's a male character. He was written as a male and I think he'll probably stay as a male. And that's fine. 'We don't have to turn male characters into women. Let's just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters.' Halle Berry, who famously played beloved Bond girl Jinx in 2002's Die Another Day, has also opined that the British spy should only be played by a man. In 2017, she told Entertainment Tonight: 'That series is steeped in history... you know, Ian Fleming's stories. I don't think you can change Bond to a woman.' And when asked whether she herself would be interested in being the first lady Bond at this year's Cannes Film Festival jury press conference, she reiterated: 'I don't know if 007 should be a woman.' Fellow former Bond girl Gemma Arterton also weighed in on the notion of a female 007, declaring she felt it might not align with the franchise's tradition. The actress, who played Strawberry Fields in 2008's Quantum of Solace, told the Times last year: 'Isn't a female James Bond like Mary Poppins being played by a man? 'They talk about it, but I think people would find it too outrageous. Sometimes you just have to respect the tradition.'

Outlander fans are all eagerly awaiting the eighth and final season which is set to be released next year, concluding author Diana Gabaldon's impressive 11-year run. But fans are now tuning into the prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood with episodes dropping on MGM+ on Prime Video weekly. Outlander fans are finally able to stream the prequel to the popular show which explores the relationship of Jamie Fraser's parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. Having premiered on August 9, Outlander: Blood of My Blood ventures into unexplored territory as it's not based on any book. But with the third episode being released on Saturday, August 16, fans have all been issuing the same complaint. Prime Video writes about the episode: "Ellen hatches a new plan to protect herself and her family. Julia is forced to make an impossible choice." However, taking to Reddit, some fans have been unimpressed so far, as they ask for more Brian and Ellen screen time. One person said: " Why are Brian & Ellen not having any interactions anymore? I loved the idea of them at first but I thought we'd see them sneaking off to meet each other. Their relationship just isn't developing at all." Another wrote: "I crave more Brian and Ellen. The one plotline I'm worried about is the Murtagh-Brian relationship that will inevitably suffer when Murtagh will find out about Brian and Ellen. I'm curious how the whole thing will play out. We know that in the end, Brian and Murtagh still remained close, but the strain on their relationship will surely show at some point." A third added: "Brian & Ellen went from 0-100 aye?! I'm agreeing now that a more gradual buildup might a been nice. Andddd it was a dream." A fourth commented: "Then we move on to Ellen and Brian. Except there is no Ellen and Brian", adding: "My question is, what passed between them during the bridge scene? "They made to believe she stayed for a long time, or was it that the road just took all her time? Did they hand-fast and lay together? Or only exchanged those words? I am so confused and upset that we don't have any development on this." Another penned: "The pacing has been somewhat off since episode one, and I entirely dislike the Brian and Ellen situation as they have next to no screen time and I feel like I'm being kept out of the loop. I was actually angry that the first kiss we saw from them was a dream sequence." However, some fans have praised the series so far as they are already coming up with potential theories for the remainder of the series as well as Outlander season eight. One person said: "I LOVED this episode. It was amazing. And that last scene when Julia opening the door of a clearly decorated room my heart sank because I knew what was coming. "I'm more convinced than ever now that that baby's story will tie into season 8 somehow." Another agreed: "Of course it will. It's the only thing that will make sense. Faith clearly didn't survive and Julia's child will know the Seaside song and pass it down to his/her own children/grandchildren."

In the forthcoming Thursday Murder Club film, the veteran actress plays a retired spy, who is also the founder and leader of the club. Speaking about her character Elizabeth, she told Saga: 'So many women have worked in that world. She's a manifestation of a reality, that's for sure.'
