Sex and the City star Gilles Marini says it's time for And Just Like That 'to go'
The 49-year-old French actor's breakout role was in the 2008 Sex and the City movie, in which he portrayed Dante, a lusted-after neighbor of Kim Cattrall 's character Samantha Jones.
Speaking with the US Sun this week, he said about the HBO spinoff, 'Everything takes its time. It goes up, and then it goes down. We have to know and understand when it's time to go.'
He suggested, 'Maybe taking the side of one of the characters and having this history behind of Sex and The City, but making something so clearly different.. somebody else come in with something new, you know? Really fresh, like the storyline has to be completely shattered.'
Marini noted that the show could stand to be more relatable: 'And something that is meaningful nowadays. Everybody loved this show because everybody could relate. Let's have a show where really everyone can relate a little bit [more].'
Fans of And Just Like That season 3 were left furious following episode eight last week, and accused the show's main characters of competing for 'biggest dummy.'
The episode, called Happily Ever After, saw Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) reunite with boyfriend Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) nearly relapse on alcohol.
While aware of fans' critiques of the show, he said he'd like to hear from viewers who aren't familiar with Sex And the City.
And despite his thoughts on the changes the new show should make, he said he would not be opposed to taking a role on the series.
'If I got the call… I'd run to it. Absolutely. I think one of the most amazing things that I had the chance to do in my life was Sex And The City,' he told the outlet.
Gilles also address Cattrall's decision not to return to the small screen as Samantha.
'To each their own. Sometimes people want to start something, and then when they're done, they're done with it.
'At the end of it, look at the career she has, I mean, everything she's done. She doesn't need [anything]. It's her decision, of course,' he reasoned.
He acknowledged the opportunities that appearing in the movie have afforded him.
The hunky stat reflected, 'Michael Patrick King, the director of the film, he said, "Listen, when the movie comes out, your life will never be the same and your phone will never stop ringing." And I'm like, why? Why is he saying that? And now I know why he said that.'
Marini began his career working as a baker and a fireman before moving to the United States to begin a modeling career.
After the success of the Sex And the City film, he was invited to participate in the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars.
He earned a runner-up position alongside partner Cheryl Burke and was invited back for the fifteenth season, placing sixth.
On Monday, July 21 he paid tribute to former Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who drowned in Costa Rica on Sunday at age 54.
Sharing a photo of them, he wrote, 'He was a light in so many lives, kind, thoughtful, and full of spirit.
'It's hard to believe he's gone. I'll always remember the moments we shared, the laughter, the talks, and the quiet understanding.
'My deepest condolences to his family, his loved ones, and everyone who was lucky enough to know him. May his memory be a blessing and may he rest in peace.'

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner backed for top Bond roles in hotly-anticipated new 007 installment
Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have both been backed to take on key roles in the next James Bond film. The famous couple, who got engaged last month, are 12/1 on odds, predicted by William Hill, to sing the theme song and star as the next 007 actor. Dua, 29, has a 15/8 shot to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Adele and Billie Eilish in singing the opening track to the next film. Meanwhile her partner Callum, 35, has gained support in the market for him to be cast as the next James Bond as he is now just 7/2 to follow on from Daniel Craig. A spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: 'Speculation is mounting around the new James Bond film, and we have seen support for couple Dua Lipa and Callum Turner to both be involved in the next movie. 'Dua Lipa has already proven her credentials on the big screen and in the studio, so it's no surprise to see her odds shorten to 15/8 to follow the likes of Adele and Billie Eilish by singing the next iconic Bond theme.' Phelps continued: 'Meanwhile, Callum Turner has seen a flurry of support to succeed Daniel Craig as 007 himself – he's now 7/2 in the betting, behind only favourite Aaron Taylor Johnson (8/11), having steadily climbed the market in recent months. 'As a duo, they're now just 12/1 to both feature in the film in these respective roles, which would mark a bold and modern new direction for the franchise.' Following months of speculation on who will be named the new James Bond, three names emerged from Coral Bookmakers earlier this month, with one lead actor back in the running. Kick Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 35, is also odds on favorite with Dunkirk actor Jack Lowden, also 35, and Netflix star Theo James, 40, following close behind. Bookmaker Coral have reported seeing a strong wave of support behind Aaron with the British actor as the 9-4 favorite for the role. Meanwhile Theo is currently coming in second best at 4-1, while Jack is backed at 5-1. Elsewhere the betting site have Superman star Henry Cavill, 42, with odds of 10-1. Coral's John Hill said: 'We've seen another strong wave of support behind Aaron Taylor-Johnson in our next James Bond betting. Although other names have been linked with the role in recent weeks. 'The British actor remains the man punters are backing to replace Daniel Craig'. However, it is thought that Spiderman star Tom will not be able to bag the role of 007 as he will being filming for Spider Man 4 in the coming months. The studio announced earlier this year that Denis Villeneuve has signed on to direct the untitled Bond film, via an Amazon press release. The filmmaker, 57, will also serve as executive producer of the project alongside Tanya Lapointe. Amazon had previously announced Amy Pascal and David Heyman as the film's producers, after the studio parted ways with longtime 007 caretakers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson. The news comes just over three years after Amazon completed its massive $8.5billion acquisition of MGM Studios that included the James Bond franchise. There hasn't been a Bond film since 2021's No Time To Die, the final instalment where Daniel Craig played the beloved secret agent. The director said in a statement: 'Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery.' He added: 'I'm a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. 'This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.' He also went on to thank Bond producers Amy and David, adding they, 'are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.' Amy and David added: 'Denis Villeneuve has been in love with James Bond movies since he was a little boy. 'It was always his dream to make this movie, and now it's ours, too. We are lucky to be in the hands of this extraordinary filmmaker.' After Amazon acquired MGM in 2022, they obtained full creative control of the 007 franchise with a deal they struck with Barbara and Michael, the offspring of original James Bond producer, Albert Broccoli. Barbara and Michael had been overseeing the franchise since 1995, when their father ceded control of his Eon Productions company to them. Amazon reached an agreement with Barbara and Michael in March 2025, and while financial terms have not been disclosed, it was rumored to be upwards of $1 billion. Villeneuve made his directorial debut in 1998 with August 32nd on Earth, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival that year. He followed that up with Maelstrom (2000), Polytechnique (2009) and Incendies (2010), the latter of which was nominated for Best International Film at the Academy Awards. The filmmaker broke into Hollywood with 2013's Prisoners, a dark drama starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. He continued to win acclaim for 2013's Enemy, 2015's Sicario, 2016's Arrival, 2017's Blade Runner 2049 and, most recently, 2021's Dune: Part One and 2024's Dune: Part Two. Amazon bosses are currently said to be considering locations in which to set the much-anticipated new film, which experts predicted is likely to be released at the end of next year or in 2027. Due to a filming ban being imposed in Central London next year, new locations are reportedly being considered - with Liverpool being a frontrunner, according to The Sun. An insider told the publication: 'This will no doubt irk Bond purists who already fear Amazon taking over the 007 franchise may lead to them making big changes. 'But Liverpool is a well-known alternative to London for film-makers. 'It has appeared in everything from The Batman to Captain America and Harry Potter movies, doubling up as international cities.' The source added that it doesn't necessarily mean the story will be set in Liverpool - though eagle-eyed Merseysiders will no doubt spot their city center in the background.

Pregnant Bianca Wallace insists she never had an affair with Ioan Gruffudd and accuses his ex Alice Evans of inventing the 'disgusting, vile story' and says trolls have threatened her and her unborn baby because of it
Bianca Wallace has insisted she never had an affair with Ioan Gruffudd as she accused his ex Alice Evans of inventing the 'disgusting, vile story'. The former couple are currently in a bitter legal battle and Alice, 56, previously accused her estranged husband of cheating on her for three years with Bianca, who is 21 years her junior. And now Bianca, 32, has finally responded to the accusations as she revealed she did not have an affair with Ioan after receiving threats towards her unborn baby from trolls. Taking to Instagram on Monday with a screenshot of the hate she has received as she stated the affair accusations were 'pathetic' and 'utterly ridiculous'. She penned: 'I have ignored this truly pathetic narrative for nearly 4 years now because of how utterly ridiculous and clearly insane it is. 'But threaten my innocent, unborn baby and the time for ignoring is up! Absolutely no one will ever threaten my baby over a made up story about an affair that literally never happened! No way.' Responding to Alice's claims directly she continued: 'In October 2021 my husband's ex made up a disgusting, vile story about my husband and I having an affair. 'For 3 years and 9 months the narrative as been ongoing, making people like 'rivqah2020' message me, and now my unborn baby, threats like this. 'The TRUTH has been set in black and white, in clear evidence, under oath numerous times, and all available in public record.' She added: 'I will not have my innocent baby born into this completely intentional manufactured drama. This has all got to end now, and it needs to end with the truth and facts. 'My husband and I haven't deserved one second of this, and now, our unborn baby is being threatened and attacked. Absolutely no f*****g way! 'I know that I speak for so many people out there who have lived through this kind of abuse, lies and manipulation when I say we are all sick and tired of the b******t now.' Alice previously confirmed her separation from the Welsh star in a series of furious tweets posted on Twitter in January 2021 - with Ioan moving on with his new girlfriend Bianca in the following October. Since Ioan and Bianca went public with their relationship, Alice has hit out at their relationship on social media. Back in 2022 Bianca posted a snap of her and Ioan holding hand which Alice branded 'sick' and 'evil' and claimed seeing the image was like a 'stake in the heart.' In the latest update in the case Evans filed court documents - found by - in which she claimed poverty and was so broke that she had to borrow money from friends and set up a GoFundMe account that raised $18,000 in donations. Alice has since confirmed she is doing a Meet and Greet in Covington, Georgia as she took to Instagram to share the exciting news on Tuesday. She penned: 'Guys I am coming to Covington!!!! I will be there the 8th and 9th of November to see you all die meets and greets and selfies and photo opps, hosted by the amazing Vampire Stalkers! 'More info to come - and wait for the wobbly video - but I am absolutely thrilled at this opportunity to still make it to Covington to see you all. 'Let me know if you're going to be there! (Or if you can't but would like to) Love you guys!' Last Wednesday's court appearances by all three were supposed to be an evidentiary hearing in which Ioan and Alice were to joust over her demands for him to shell out more than the $4,500 he is currently paying in support money for her and their two daughters. But instead, after a 90-minute delay during which Judge Josh Stinn huddled with their lawyers, the judge kicked the can down the road, scheduling another hearing August 12 when a date will be set for the case to go to trial. She said that she and her girls - Ella, 15 and Elsie, 11 - were recently evicted from their LA home because she couldn't afford to pay the $6,500 per month rent. Alice has since confirmed she is doing a Meet and Greet in Covington, Georgia as she took to Instagram to share the exciting news on Tuesday She contended that she had to 'burn through' her savings to pay living expenses and legal fees. And she insisted Ioan- who married Bianca in April - can afford to pay more than the $3,000 per month child support and $1,500 spousal support he now pays. But Ioan is fighting his ex's cash demands and in his own court filing, blasted Evans' claims, saying that she 'purposely got herself evicted… intentionally ceasing paying rent and instead taking the children on a vacation trip to Europe.' Her motive, he said, was to 'support her false public narrative of financial destitution in an attempt to further harm my reputation... as a fraudulent way to strong-arm me into paying more support than I can afford.' Ioan, also maintained that subpoenaed bank records show that, far from being broke, Evans made more than $130,000 in 2024 and is expected to earn a similar amount this year - a claim that Evans called 'false and misleading.' In his recent court filing Ioan told how he was 'mortified' to have received 'dozens of stressed messages from our minor children in which they have parroted Alice's false and manufactured claims of becoming homeless in the immediate future.' But in her new court documents, Alice denied manipulating the children to send plaintive messages to their father. 'I absolutely did not ask the children to send messages to (Ioan) about our eviction and pending homelessness,' she said. 'The children are well aware of our financial distress and the eviction.' Ioan and Alice met on the set of the movie 102 Dalmatians more than 20 years ago. They fell in love in real life and were married in Mexico in 2007. Ioan filed for divorce in March 2021, shortly after Alice announced on social media that her husband of 14 years was leaving her. They were divorced in July 2023.
