NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally broke their title jinx in style, defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to lift their maiden Indian Premier League trophy.
Despite huffing and puffing to 190 for 9 in their 20 overs, RCB's bowlers rose to the occasion, putting on a disciplined and determined display to restrict Punjab Kings to 184/7 in 20 overs and seal a historic win.

looked promising before falling for 26 off 16. Punjab's standout with the ball was Kyle Jamieson, who picked up 3 for 48, while Yuzvendra Chahal bowled economically, finishing with 1 for 37 in his four-over spell.
Earlier, RCB's innings never really found momentum, as batters struggled to convert starts into substantial scores. Kohli once again took on the role of anchor, but his knock lacked fluency. He struck just three boundaries — two of them coming after the ninth over — and batted at a strike rate of 122.85.
After a promising powerplay that yielded 55/1, RCB slowed down significantly, managing only 42 runs between overs 6 and 11.

India pacer Arshdeep Singh, expensive in his first three overs, came back superbly in the final over to claim three wickets—Krunal Pandya (4), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1), and Shepherd—ensuring RCB didn't breach the 200-run mark.
But in the end, 190 proved enough, as RCB's bowlers delivered a spirited performance to finally bring home the elusive IPL trophy after 18 long years of heartbreaks and near-misses.
