Diamond powder for skincare, ₹8.5 lakh monthly expense on food: Check this Chinese mother-daughter's lavish lifestyle

Popular Chinese TV host Li Xiang has triggered fresh online criticism. The controversy started after it was revealed she had eaten sticky rice dumplings worth 1,000 yuan (around ₹ 12,000) each during the Dragon Boat Festival. Li, now 49, became famous in 1997 as the host of the hit show Happy Camp. She has won many awards, including China's top honour for TV hosts, the Golden Mic Award. Over the years, she has expanded her career into acting, singing, real estate and online selling. In 2019, her monthly online sales crossed 10 million yuan ( ₹ 12 crore), according to the South China Morning Post. She owns a huge villa in Beijing and several properties in Changsha. During this year's Dragon Boat Festival, the Chinese celebrity shared photos online of a fancy meal with her daughter. The photos showed special zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) served on porcelain plates at a luxury restaurant. These zongzi were made by a French luxury brand using expensive ingredients like caviar, black truffle and Iberian ham. Each dumpling cost nearly 100 times more than regular ones. Li, often called China's 'Showoff Queen,' is known for her over-the-top lifestyle. She once said her family spends at least 70,000 yuan (nearly ₹ 8.5 lakh) every month on food. She even mixes two-carat diamond powder into her skincare routine. Her daughter's life is just as lavish. Angela Wang Shiling gets a monthly allowance of 650,000 yuan ( ₹ 77 lakh) and studies at a top UK boarding school with fees of 350,000 yuan (approx. ₹ 42 lakh) a year. She also rides in luxury cars, eats with Hermès tableware and wears costly jewellery from Van Cleef & Arpels. To give a context, some Hermès dinner plates cost more than ₹ 1 lakh each. And, a simple Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet is worth ₹ 4 lakh. Angela Wang Shiling, now 15, recently shared photos of her being in company with the British royal family. She even shared a photo of King Charles giving a speech at a private gathering, with Queen Camilla standing beside him. Her mother is also known to be close to the royals. Social media users reacted to the expensive food. 'This is not eating zongzi, it is biting into half my monthly salary!' SCMP quoted one user as saying. 'Poverty really limits my imagination. While ordinary folk buy zongzi by weight, celebrities price theirs by 'style'; the difference is glaring,' came from another.

Kabul OTT Release Date: When and where to watch Shervin Alenabi and Jonathan Zaccaï's French-English series

Kabul OTT Release Date: If you're someone who followed the news back in August 2021 when the Taliban took over Kabul after the sudden withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, you'll probably remember the chaos, the fear, and the urgency of those days. Now imagine that drama, panic, and emotional intensity being recreated on screen through a human-focused political thriller. That's exactly what Kabul, the new French-produced, English-language series, is bringing to audiences. And the wait isn't long. Kabul will be streaming from June 20, 2025, exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India, in both English and Hindi. What is Kabul all about? Set against the haunting real-life backdrop of August 15, 2021, when the U.S. government officially pulled out its military presence from Afghanistan, Kabul dives straight into the mess that followed. It's a six-part mini-series that zooms in on the human stories trapped in political decisions, focusing especially on families, diplomats, soldiers, and ground-level agents trying to navigate the fast-collapsing situation. At the heart of the show is the Nazany family, an Afghan household suddenly targeted by the Taliban, trying to escape as the city goes out of control. But the family's plight is only one layer of this multi-threaded narrative. Alongside their story, Kabul reveals European operatives, including a French diplomat, an Italian attaché, and a German soldier, as well as others, scrambling to coordinate rescue and evacuation operations, often in direct conflict with local threats and global politics. Meet the cast and crew of Kabul The project is based on the personal experiences of Fabienne Servan-Schreiber, one of the show's producers, who was actively involved in helping evacuate Afghans during the U.S. withdrawal. Directed by Kasia Adamik and Olga Chajdas, Kabul is written by Olivier Demangel, Thomas Finkielkraut, and Joe Lavy. Fabienne Servan-Schreiber, Charlotte Ortiz, Matthias Weber and Thibault Gast have produced this under 24 25 Films and Cinétévé. Kabul was filmed starting in April 2024, with Greece (near Athens) standing in for war-ravaged Kabul, to safely and realistically bring the setting to life. The cast includes Shervin Alenabi, Jonathan Zaccaï (stars as a French diplomat trying to juggle political orders and moral responsibilities), Eric Dane (best known from Grey's Anatomy and The Last Ship), Thibault Evrard, Vassilis Kukalani, Jeanne Goursaud, Gianmarco Saurino and Valentina Cervi among others. It premiered earlier this year at the Series Mania Festival in Lille, where it received critical praise for its raw portrayal of a sensitive global moment. If geopolitical thrillers like Homeland, Fauda, or The Looming Tower caught your attention in the past, then Kabul is right up your alley, but with a European lens.

Housefull 5 box office collection day 6: Akshay Kumar film marches on, beats Salman's Sikandar lifetime in under a week

Housefull 5 box office collection day 6: Tarun Mansukhani's comedy Housefull 5 has continued its stellar record at the box office despite middling reviews and criticism of sexism in the plot. Despite all that, the film has fared well at the ticket window, avoiding big drops during the weekdays. Housefull 5 earned ₹8 crore net in India on Wednesday, the sixth day of its release, taking its total to a more-than-healthy ₹119 crore. Having earned ₹119 crore net domestically in just six days, Housefull 5 has now become the third-highest-grossing Hindi film in India this year. It is now ahead of Salman Khan's Sikandar, which netted ₹110.3 crore in India during its full run. Ahead of Housefull 5 is Ajay Devgn's Raid 2, which has minted ₹174 crore, and is still adding to it. And at the top spot, out of these films' reach is Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which minted a staggering ₹601 crore in India. Housefull 5 has earned over $5 million overseas, which means it is inching close to ₹200 crore worldwide. It would be the fourth Hindi film to breach that mark once it reaches there on Friday. As of Friday, its estimated worldwide collection stands just above ₹185 crore. This makes it Akshay Kumar's highest-grossing film of the year, beating Sky Force ( ₹168 crore) and Kesari Chapter 2 ( ₹144 crore). As Housefull 5 inches towards the ₹200-crore mark, many are compelled to call it a superhit. It is no mean feat for a comedy to reach that mark. However, for Housefull, box office success is more nuanced. The film features 34 other actors of note apart from Akshay, including big names like Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff. This, along with the film's expensive shoot on board a luxury cruise, has made it the most expensive comedy film made in India with a reported budget of ₹240 crore. Trade insiders tell HT that the film needs to cross that mark in its net collection or go past ₹300 crore worldwide to be labelled a clean hit. The producers are already in the clear courtesy of the sale of satellite, music, and digital rights. But the distributors will hope that Housefull 5 can net them some profit too. As things stand, Housefull 5 will, in all likelihood, not be a failure at the box office. It may end up recovering its cost, and if it sustains its momentum, it may end up being a hit, too. Housefull 5 is the story of a murder on a cruise ship. A wealthy billionaire (Ranjeet) dies and leaves his wealth to his successor, Jolly. The twist is that there are three Jollys on the cruise - Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan. A doctor who can unravel the real Jolly's identity is brutally murdered. So immediately, the three and their girlfriends (Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Nargis Fakhri) are all suspects in the murder. The film has been released with two endings.
