Netflix's 'top notch' series starring Line of Duty actress hailed 'brilliant' by fans
Netflix drama The Forsyte Saga has been praised as "incredible" by viewers who said it "sweeps you into another time".
The acclaimed series is adapted from author John Galsworthy's novels and chronicles the trials and tribulations of three generations of a wealthy Victorian family.
Damian Lewis of Homeland fame portrays solicitor Soames Forsyte and Line of Duty actress Gina McKee - who was born in Peterlee in County Durham - stars as his wife Irene. The 10-episode drama also features Rupert Graves from Sherlock and King Arthur's Ioan Gruffudd.
Originally broadcast in 2002, the series is now on Netflix and is attracting a host of new admirers who are captivated by the Forsyte family's dramas and scandals, reports Chronicle Live.
Numerous viewers have branded it essential viewing, with one declaring: "Tour de force performances from the entire cast. Very moving story with many emotional moments. Worth the trouble.
"I love to watch this every five or 10 years," commented another viewer. "Long enough so I don't remember everything. It's such a top notch production. The costumes, the properties, the drama of it all just sweeps you into another time.
"The cast are excellent and the intricacies of each character are so beautifully developed. People are messy, they don't always colour within the lines and this family certainly demonstrates just how family dynamics, entanglements and disfunction can warp and skew things for generations to come."
"If you enjoy period entertainment this is a must," one impressed viewer noted, while another praised the "excellent acting, staging, production, costumes, make-up, sound". "Ensemble cast captured and held the audience attention," they continued.
"It is a magnificent show," another person chimed in. "You can not miss it. Love is complicated. No one is absolutely right or wrong."
Some admitted to being "in tears" whilst watching the drama, which explores Soames and Irene's troubled marriage. "Beautiful and so well acted that I cry every single time," one confessed.
Another viewer shared: "Unexpected plot evolves in suspense filled episodes. Character development excellent. You come to know these peoples and get quickly involved in the story. I want to watch again."
"Fantastic timeless series!" someone else enthused. "Watched three times since 2002 and still hits the spot. Brilliant!"

Jake Paul's next fight against pound-for-pound star on Netflix is revealed after talks with Anthony Joshua broke down
Jake Paul will take on Gervonta 'Tank' Davis on November 15th in an exhibition live on Netflix. The Youtuber-turned-boxer had been in talks over a possible showdown with Anthony Joshua but that has not materialised. Instead, Paul will be facing a smaller opponent in the 5ft 5in American on November 14. 'Tank' has never been defeated as a professional and has held the WBA lightweight title since 2003. The 30-year-old will be giving up a significant height and weight advantage against 6ft 1in Paul. Paul responded to confirmation of the fight on X by writing: 'Gervonta has been disrespecting my name for too long. 'His nickname might be Tank, but I'm an FPV drone and I'm about to disable tiny boy. Yes, he's 1 of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. The 5ft 5in Gervonta Davis will be the opponent for Paul, who stands at 6ft 1in 'And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath.' Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Netflix announced the fight, which will take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Davis may be small of stature but packs a punch having knocked out twenty eight of his thirty one opponents to date. He is a controversial character, previously accused of domestic violence in 2023 by Vanessa Posso, who is the mother of Davis' daughter. Posso has since publicly withdrawn her abuse allegations. In July, he was arrested again on a domestic violence charge. As seen in jail records obtained by Daily Mail, Davis is now facing a battery charge after being arrested in the early hours of Friday, June 15 in Miami Beach, Florida. In his latest defense Davis retained the WBA lightweight title via a controversial majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr. Prior to that result, he was No 8 in the pound-for-pound list and among the very best boxers in the world. His fight with Paul will not place that belt on the line and is purely an exhibition, following on from Paul's clash with Mike Tyson in November 2024. It remains to be seen whether the AJ fight will still materialise next year, though it appears Paul is confident. His reference to going on to 'slaughter Goliath' seems to clearly reference his intention to face the Brit, which would no doubt be his biggest and most dangerous challenge.

The unexpected match will take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and is scheduled to air on Netflix. The exhibition format addresses the significant weight and height disparity between Paul, who last fought at cruiserweight, and the unbeaten lightweight champion Davis. Paul announced the fight on social media, engaging in verbal jabs against Davis, who is renowned for his powerful punches. This bout follows Paul's failed negotiations for a fight with Anthony Joshua and comes as Davis was reportedly considering a rematch with Lamont Roach Jr.

Love Is Blind UK star forced to apologise as he says ‘never meant to make your Mrs cry'
The second part of Love Is Blind UK season 2 sees multiple contestants in tears and several stars walking off set. *Warning - This article contains minor spoilers for Love Is Blind UK season 2 episode 8.* The eighth episode of Love Is Blind UK season 2 saw things get very heated between two contestants, as rumours swirled about one star's 'flirty' behaviour. In the second instalment of the Netflix show, 28-year-old health coach Javen was seen flirting with multiple rejected contestants from the pods during a reunion party while his fiancee Katisha looked on. Later that night, Javen left the 31-year-old nanny from Dumfries to go on a night out with some of his co-stars, leaving her home alone in tears. Soon afterwards, Katisha's friend Megan, who is engaged to Kieran from the pods, came round to tell Katisha about Javen's behaviour on the night out. She claimed to Katisha that he had spent 'the whole night' with the single girls, including Kieran's ex-flame Sophie, and even went into a photobooth with her. Later in episode 8, Javen invited Megan and Kieran round in order to 'clear his name', but things quickly turned hostile as an argument broke out. He claimed that Megan had told Katisha 'half-truths' about what had happened that night, which had caused Katisha to leave him. Javen insisted he had spent time with some of the boys, including Patrick and Demola, that evening, but Megan said she had 'only ever seen him with Sophie, Yolanda and Aanu'. Things got particularly heated when Javen disagreed with the couple about his time with Sophie in a photobooth, with the former claiming there 'was no curtain' while Kieran and Sophie said the 'curtain was closed'. 'Do you think I'm stupid enough to… I don't know. I don't even know what you're insinuating that I was doing,' Javen fumed. Kieran then stepped in to defend Megan, saying: 'Everything that Meg has said to Katisha is what she saw and I also saw that, so there's no bull****.' 'No it is bull****,' Javen responded. 'To say I was with someone all night, bro, I was there for three hours.' Javen and Megan then began shouting over each other, with Megan eventually losing her cool and stating: 'You were all over Yolanda. You were all over Aanu. You also mentioned how Sophie is someone you'd like to f*** but you would just leave her.' 'I never said that,' Javen responded, as Megan insisted: 'You did! Mate, I don't care. I saw what I saw and told Katisha. Don't be mad about it. All I think is Katisha deserved to know what you were doing.' 'I already told her that!' Javen yelled, as Megan asked: 'Then what's the issue?' See you never, Jav. Have a good life you f***ing pr***.' She then stormed out and burst into tears on the balcony, telling the cameras: 'I've had many arguments with people like Jav who just go over and over the same thing and try and deflect the argument onto the other person, so I had to remove myself from the conversation, because we were going nowhere.' 'I think he knows what he's done so agree to disagree. You go live your life, Jav.' Javen then apologised to Kieran, saying: 'I never meant to make her cry, so I apologise. 'I apologise for making your Mrs cry; that was not my intention. But I wanted to have this conversation so you guys knew where I stood. That is literally it.' 'Yeah,' Kieran simply nodded, before leaving the room to go and check on Megan, giving her a hug. 'You did right by your mate and that's all you can do,' he told her. Is it curtains for Katisha and Javen? Will Megan and Kieran tie the knot? We'll have to keep watching. Love Is Blind UK season 2 episodes 1-8 are available to watch on Netflix now.
