Willie Nelson's July 4 Picnic in Austin to go on despite storm damage

Express Tribune21 hours ago
The Outlaw Music Festival's 10th-anniversary concert scheduled for July 1 in El Reno, Oklahoma, has been canceled due to significant storm damage sustained during a severe weather event in Ridgedale, Missouri.
However, Willie Nelson's highly anticipated Fourth of July Picnic in Austin is still expected to take place as planned.
According to a post from the Outlaw Music Festival's official Instagram account, the weather event on June 29 at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena caused heavy rain and high winds that forced an evacuation. The storm left the band's equipment and several artists' instruments severely damaged and waterlogged.
'The potential damage has halted the festival production as they recover and replace what's necessary for the tour to resume,' the statement read.
Refunds will be issued for the canceled July 1 performance at the Lucky Star Amphitheater in Oklahoma.
Despite the setback, the festival plans to continue the tour with its next stop at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on July 4. A representative for Willie Nelson confirmed to the Austin American-Statesman on Tuesday that the Independence Day show will proceed as scheduled.
Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnic is an annual tradition that draws thousands to Austin and is one of the most iconic live music events in Texas. Fans can expect performances by Nelson and several other artists, celebrating Independence Day with music, food, and fireworks.

Gracie Abrams just soft-launched her relationship with Paul Mescal

Gracie Abrams has fans buzzing after posting a cosy photo with actor Paul Mescal following their time together at the Glastonbury Festival. On July 2, the 25-year-old singer shared a carousel of photos from the iconic U.K. music festival, which ran from June 25 to 29. The Instagram post featured candid snaps of her friends, family including her father, J.J. Abrams and a string of sweet festival moments. But the highlight? A laid-back shot of her lying beside the Normal People actor, 29, on what looked like a picnic blanket. Gracie, in a rose-coloured top and bandana, looked relaxed as she lounged next to Mescal. Another clip showed her perched on his shoulders, belting out The Cure's 'Friday I'm In Love' during Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith's surprise performance, a moment that only added fuel to the dating speculation. The Grammy-nominated artist also posted a group selfie that included Mescal, as well as images of her with Lorde and a video of Paul McCartney enjoying her Glastonbury debut performance of 'That's So True.' '❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,' she simply captioned the post, leaving fans to read between the lines. Abrams performed a well-received set at the festival, singing hits like 'Close to You,' 'That's So True,' and 'I Love You, I'm Sorry,' along with a crowd-pleasing cover of 'Just Like Heaven.' She and Mescal were first linked in June 2024, when they were spotted out together in London. These new photos suggest the connection is still going strong and fans are here for it.

Kylie takes the next step with Timothée Chalamet, but he's not matching her energy

Kylie Jenner has made a subtle but bold move in her relationship with Timothée Chalamet and fans are paying close attention. The 27-year-old beauty mogul has officially followed her boyfriend of two years on Instagram, marking a rare social media acknowledgment of their low-key romance. As of July 1, Kylie follows just 119 accounts on the platform with Chalamet now among them, while she boasts a staggering 393 million followers herself. Interestingly, Chalamet, 29, hasn't returned the favour. His Instagram account still shows zero follows, suggesting he may be sticking to his long-standing preference for privacy on social media. Still, Kylie's move has reignited interest in the couple's famously private relationship. The pair, who first sparked dating rumours in early 2023, have mostly kept their romance out of the spotlight. But they've shared the occasional public moment, including a headline-making courtside date at an NBA playoff game earlier this year, where they were spotted kissing and cheering on the New York Knicks. Though neither Kylie nor Timothée has commented publicly on their relationship, this latest update suggests the two are still going strong. For fans keeping tabs, the Instagram follow may be small but it's enough to set the internet buzzing.

Nicola Peltz Beckham subtly shuts down rumours she's 'controlling' Brooklyn

Nicola Peltz Beckham is addressing recent drama in the most 2025 way possible with a single Instagram like. The Lola actress, 30, appeared to respond to speculation that she's 'controlling' her husband Brooklyn Beckham, 26, by liking a fan comment dismissing the claim as 'absurd.' The moment came after Nicola posted a birthday tribute to her father, billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, on June 24. Amid well-wishes in the comments, one fan wrote: 'The fact people are in this comment section talking bs about someone controlling a GROWN man is absurd... Leave them be and stop blaming women for everything.' Nicola liked the comment, seemingly aligning with the sentiment. The move follows renewed online criticism after Nicola and Brooklyn skipped David Beckham's 50th birthday celebration in London last May, fueling rumors of strain between the younger couple and Brooklyn's famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham. Some followers took to Nicola's post to voice their disapproval, with one writing, 'Funny how you're so happy to be his daughter but you don't allow your husband to celebrate his own father.' Others suggested she was keeping Brooklyn from his family, continuing a narrative that's persisted for months. Despite the drama, the couple appeared united during Nelson's 83rd birthday celebration, sharing photos from the party. Brooklyn even posted his own tribute to his father-in-law, writing 'Happy Birthday, Nelson. We love you,' alongside a photo of the three posing together. While neither Nicola nor Brooklyn has officially commented on the family tension, their social media activity continues to fuel speculation and, in some cases, defend their decisions without saying a word.
